“The best experience!!!”
Reviewed 25 March 2010

We visited Pristine Island resort during our honeymoon. This was the first place we visited after our marriage. What an experience!!! I still remember each and every moment in this resort.

1) Resort has floating cottages located in the middle of a lake. The experience was awesome!!!
2) As soon as you reach the place, they take you to the resort using a boat and it is a thrilling experience to see the island resort while travelling towards it.
3) The rooms are spacious and each room has a some open space at the back side and you get a beautiful view of the entire lake with boats, fishermen & birds.
4) They have a very good floating restaurant serving excellent food.
5) They provide boating facilities (Rowing boat, Peddle boat & House boat). We took Rowing boat at 5pm and the sunset view was too good. The next morning we took peddle boat and the good thing is that the guards keeps watching the boat from the resort to prevent unwanted incidents.

Overall experience was excellent with affordable price. But we tried massage at ayurvedic spa located at the shore. Even though message and steam bath was good, the price was little higher.

Well, where should I start? Hmmm, the onshore reception already gives you a taste of what's expecting you. Not very well maintained and in a crappy building. Then you take a boat to the Island Resort and the entrance kind of reminded us of the entrance of a concentration camp. Then we were showed our rooms. The more expensive "floating cottages" are facing a dirt square, that used to be a water pool and now is supposed to be something like a badminton field. 1/3 of the island is in very bad shape, the restaurant included. Half the island is under construction, there is trash lying around everywhere.
There's really nothing to do on the island. There are 2 wooden sunbeds that have no cushions and 2 hammocks - one of them is broken. What you can do, is take a sunset boat trip, but that's about it. The food is OK, though not great. About half the food on the menu is not available.

Hotel is located a wonderful place in between Lake Wayanad. Paddle boating around the restaurant in early morning has it own charm.

Sit in the step-out and enjoy the sunset.

The infrastructure is good. Service level is just above average. Food quality is very good.

Overall wonderful experience.

Really recommend this place for every couple. Enjoyed the stay very much. The resort is located in midst of the backwaters. So this creates a very good look for the resort. I regret that unfortunately i stayed in this resort for only a day. I would surely like to visit this resort again.

What a ripoff. Would not pay more than 1000 Rupees a night for this place. Instead I paid four times that much. Staff were overbearing, calling us to find out what we wanted to eat and asking us to checkout early. Island was overrun with children and natives who apparently lived there; made much noise during sleep hours. Food was overpriced and not very good.

Also, fairly far away from Allepey. Taxi to and from Allepy was over 6,000 rupees.

Pristine Islands is an island getaway - and true to its word, its a getaway indeed. Decent place if you want to snuggle up in your room all day, bad place if you want to explore.

Pros-
1. If you are looking to spend all your time within the confines of your room, the resort is a good place to be - the scene from the bedroom balcony is breathtaking during sunrise and sunset. Not much within the island to disturb you.
2. Friendly staff, and they know a fair amount of English and Hindi, so communication isn't too much of a trouble.
3. Very eco friendly - water is recycled and they have taken pains to maintain the lakes ecosystem.

Cons-
1. There are very few facilities actually on the island - a carrom board, a volley ball court (unusable due to it being filled with swampy muck), a walk that takes you around the island and a few hammocks to laze around in. Thats it. For anything else, you need to visit the mainland.
2. Visiting the mainland could be a breeze if you are lucky. They have only one motor boat, so if that isn't working, you're done for. We, unfortunately, had a tough time. Water-hyacinth carpeted the lake during evenings and mornings making it very difficult to ferry across. On the second day, the motor boat broke down and we had to to make do with a row boat - a good 20-30 minutes in the sweltering heat for each trip across.
3. Food was good, but were priced at 5-star rates. We didn't feel it was worth it, so we preferred to visit restaurants in and around Cherthala.
4. Massage was a huge letdown. They are tied up with Ayurkshetra to provide this facility. The masseuse was a trainee and really didn't have a clue on the amount of pressure that should be applied. They hardly knew any English or Hindi, so when we complained that our eyes were really burning, they smiled, said sorry and continued doing their thing.

All in all, we had a fairly good time on the first day, but were bored by the second. Nice place to visit once.
