There are certain homestays which touch your heart and soul and their memories stay with you forever.
We could feel the warmth and comfort as soon as we entered. Serene music which was playing, amazing fragnance surrounding the place, beautiful plants and the best part is amazing hosts!
Biju made delicious juice when we entered and it was THE best juice I ever had in my life. Apart from this charming Natasha gave us company and helped us to plan out our short stay. Our tiredness completely wiped away when we saw the cozy 'Bali' room on first floor. The sitting area, balcony, rooms..everything is constructed keeping every minute detail in consideration. Its clearly visible that lot of thought process has been given in making the place special. Breakfast and juices were amazing. The restaurants were also nearby. First place I have seen where you can have any amount of water, tea, coffee etc. and nothing is chargeable. I would recommend this place to everyone who is visiting Kerala. All in all we had an amazing time and thanks a lot to Birju, Natasha and Mr. Jack :). Hope we will see you again in future!

After two weeks travelling through rajistan, agra and delhi, we came to Bella home stay, and it was the perfect way to end the our trip. Natash, Biju and Jack were so warm and welcoming, i felt instantly relaxed. The rooms were very comfortable, with great airconditioning. Bijus juices really are as good as everyone says. Biju and Natasha also booked a housboat for us, with biju taking us to the boat to introduce us and ensure everything was perfect. The houseboat was fantastic. Amazingly delicious food, really lovely friendly staff. Highly reccomended

I stayed there for 2 nights in Jan 2014 during one of Kerala colorful festivals. Arrived to Alleppey by ferry from Kollam, all rikshavallas seemed to know the place very well, so it was no problem to find the house, that is in a small alley close to the houseboat jetty. It is really a home - stay, as the owners live there with the guests. The house is colorfull and warm, with dense greenery in a small garden in front of it. The hosts - Natasha and Biju are very nice, helpful companions. Can't forget to add that Biju makes the best welcome drink.

Natasha, Biju and Jack were wonderful hosts - genuinely friendly, not at all pushy with selling tours, informative and honest (this was the only place where we've found tuktuk prices not to be inflated) and they made wonderful breakfasts and smoothies. Jack was so upset when we left that he chased after us in the tuktuk and barked angrily at the driver who was "taking us away"!

The place itself is serene; it's just their house but with beautifully lush gardens and just 4 lovingly decorated rooms. The rooms were really comfortable and very clean. Lots of places around the house just to chill out. Oh and strong wifi service (a first on our trip in India!). Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet.

This is an ideal place to stay in Alleppey and it is really a treat: it's all about the hosts and the location. We stayed here for 3 nights and can absolutely agree with all the other comments about Bella being a wondeful bolthole in Alleppey. The main drag is less than 10 minutes' walk away but Biju or Natasha will happily call a tuk tuk for you; the drivers they know are great, and there is no need to haggle or explain your destination. Our room was on the first floor and was very peaceful. There is both a fan and AC and the bed was fine. A minor grumble would be about the shower, which whilst producing hot water, does so with a mind of its own. But it would be very unfair of me to make anything of this when the rooms are such good value.

The other high points: just around the corner you can get excellent coffee (even better than Biju's) at El Cafe Paradiso and there are various-sized boats waiting to take you out onto the Lake. And then there are the breakfasts. We were treated to Keralan pancakes plus Biju's fabulous juices. And perhaps the nicest thing of all about Bella has been sitting around on their 'porch' listening to the birds, and Natasha and Biju telling us about how things are here: very illuminating.

So, in summary, unless you like spending lots of money to stay in shiny hotels, this is the only place to consider if staying in Alleppey.

When we think of Bella Art and Meditation House in Allapuzha,
what first comes to mind is style and grace. Natasha and Biju
have created a home that is warm, kind, generous, modern,
yet traditional and classic. There is a splendid stereo system,
in fact, new Sony speakers just came in, and throughout the
day quietly in the background one hears gentle, meditative
Indian, soft classic American jazz, and European greats
throughout the centuries, always a joy and never at the
giving up of one’s private space or peace of mind.

Natasha and Biju are a contemporary couple
of the world, both Asian and European, wise,
gentle yet strong, curious, knowing, yet open and
vulnerable to the world. As protection against the
cruelties and indignities of life, their home and
gardens are sunlit throughout. There are flowers
every where. The same flower motif flows through
all the house with Natasha’s curlicues of painted
flowers on doors, walls. The top floor has a glass
enclosed room as big as the house itself, and
given over to peaceful meditation as one looks
over endless trees and flowers far as the eye
can see. Of course, given their sweet grace and
kindness, Natasha and Biju offer this wonderful
space gratis.

The home and grounds throughout are immaculate.
There are two young ladies who help. They are ever
so sweet and kind, always ready to help in any way.
Biju prepares breakfast with them, and serves
personally and splendidly indeed on the front
veranda, with lovely linen table cloths and delicate plates
every bit as charming and classy as China bone or Waterford.
Breakfast is a splendid affair, with large mugs of fresh
brewed coffee, or various teas, freshly made fruit juices,
breads, jams, eggs, kerela, all done to perfection.

Natasha and Biju’s home is always a place of
contentment, joy, rest, grace. There’s
little places, corners, divans, chairs, one
finds for cool reading as the grace of the
home embraces.

And then of course there’s Jack, the ever
so charming French pug who guards
the house with every bit of courage his
little body can command. He’s a charmer
indeed, and very much his own presence
in the house.

If you are in Alappuzha, by all means put
Bella House of Art and Meditation
on your must do list. If you do nothing more
you will indeed have had one of the
best times of your life.

Room Tip: All the rooms are en suite and grand. No need for AC, although there is if one wants. Bottom room i...

no idea what to expect as this was booked by our fantastic host in marari and was just one night prior to a trip out on the backwaters. Set back several streets from the main town you enter through an unassuming pair of gates to an oasis of greenery and tranquillity. What a contrast to the urban dishevelment that is Alleppey. First to greet us was Jack (the Pug) followed by Natasha and Biju. Second previous guests the comments about 'smoothies'. we had a room on the first floor that was compact with increased coziness as there were three of us - but for one night it was fine. My son and his partner had one below us and found it well furnished and equipped. The rooms were very clean the ambience tranquil and restorative. Lots of spaces to sit and read etc. It was difficult to believe we were in alleppey so quiet and calm. Leaving early in the morning Natasha sorted continental breakfast and omelettes although I understand Biju cooks a traditional kerala breakfast during 'normal' hours. All in all ideal and Jack was a little star.

Room Tip: all the rooms looked well furnished and peaceful
