Despite the one bad review that i read about this place, i chose to book this place. Im so happy i did!! It was a whole different story once we reached. We went there for our first anniversary. they have five beautiful sea facing rooms with open bathrooms ;) we have stayed on a lot of beaches in India and i havent found one that comes close to this & definitely not with this price.
The other places that are around here - palm beach etc are way too overpriced considering its the same location!
The rooms were well maintained, clean bathrooms, towels, bed linen. Despite power cuts, they had a generator & thankfully there were barely any power cuts! There's a geyser in the bathroom - so ther's hot water any time, its also connected to the taps in the open bathroom. They have a shower outside the rooms, so you can have a quick wash after the dip in the sea! The hammocks right outside the rooms provide the perfect setting to laze in the afternoons. It was not too hot when we were there, so we chose to go with non AC rooms. Its in probably the best location on Alleppey beach. We didnt want to swap this place to go stay in one of those house boats or lake properties, which have to deal with mosquito issues! Stayed here for four days and it was so peaceful.
On weekends, the beach gets crowded with localites... but by night its calm again. Sleeping & waking up to the sound of the waves - days spent around the tranquil beach. They have beach beds & some tables facing the sea - perfect for mornings - watching dolphins!!yes!! Witnessed so many dolphins splashing so close to the beach :D
The food is ok, i think they bring food from outside if its not basic stuff you order. There are many options on the main beach side, so walking there is the best. We bought lobsters just on the go & they cooked it for us. A very simple thick gravy kind, but it was delicious. Dont expect fancy food. They charged us very minimal amount for cooking the lobsters too.
The staff are very friendly. oh! they give complimentary fruit bowls in the mornings & something sweet - local food in the late afternoons & nights too. Sometimes, your too full after eating out that one almost feels bad saying no to the sweet Sabu:)
Shaheen helped us find a good ayurvedic massage place & it was one of the best massages i've had!
Finally! It was the surprise that the owner Jeevan organised for us. A lovely cake (it was unbelievably tasty & spongy - never expected that from a small town) & flowers. The staff, Jeevan & his friends were there to celebrate it along with the other wonderful people who were staying there! They made it so memorable for us :D Thankyou :)
Overall, you have your privacy too, so its just the sun, sand, the beautiful ocean! I would recommend this place to anyone who loves to stay by the beach!
PS: just one thing, bcuz this the only place with trees in front of the property - there are random men, who sit around under that & smoke! It would be great if the staff paid attention to this & kept them at bay!
