Situated strategically on the Alappuzha - Kottayam highway, this restaurant should have been a boon to the travelers. However, those wishing to try out authentic Kerala food as per their claims would be a bit disappointed. We tried Puttu (Steamed rice cake) with duck curry and Pomfret fry. The Puttu (Their mascot item - after which the restaurant is named) was a total disappointment. Though it had hemispherical shape, as when made in coconut shells, it had no flavor, unlike the 'chiratta puttu' with distinct coconut smell. Grated coconut was virtually absent. We tried the wheat puttu which again turned out to be a huge disappointment. The duck curry was mundane and could hold no patch to what is available elsewhere in Alappuzha, for example the Brother's restaurant. The pomfret fry was small - nearly one third the size of what is available in the famed Paragon restaurant of Calicut at the same price.
This place is owned by a business house which sells packaged powders for making Puttu, Idly etc. All in all, a poor advertisement for their products.
