“Unique for the deity worshipped”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Located in Haripad, Alapuzha district, Kerala, the temple is unique for snake deity worshipped here. The temple has the speciality that it is the biggest temple dedicated to snakes. The moment you enter the gates of the temple compound you are in a totally different world, surrounded by big trees resembling a wild forest. The complete temple walkway and is lined with idols of snakes sculpted on black stone. The atmosphere is so mystic that you feel very happy at heart.

“A different temple”
Reviewed 30 April 2014

This is a temple devoted to the serpent god, Nagaraja. This is situated in the midst of a forest with images of thousands of snakes and this place is supposed to be frequented by all kinds of snakes. A very different and unique temple.

“Totally an accidental visit”
Reviewed 15 April 2014

We never even had heard about it before but it was something that was dropped in the middle of a conversation with our local guide and he was the one who took us to this temple that is set right in the middle of a forest claimed to be inhabited by a lot of snakes and understandably the temple itself is devoted to snake god and though the whole idea of maybe coming face to face with a snake was a scary deal, the whole aura and the customs associated with the temple was too good to leave away. Moreover having a female priest was even more exciting at the place. The temple is not as fancy as some of the other temples that you can see around the country but for what it stands, it totally is worth the visit.
