A homestay is amazing because of the hosts. Jossy is an amazing guy and his wife and family were extremely helpful.
The room was very simple, neat and nice. But the location was exquisite. It's far away from most things, so the best thing to do is nothing. If you are willing to just laze about, take a motorboat/ houseboat ride, walk about the town - this is perfect.
The best thing was probably the food - amazing food. Jossy went out of his way to provide us amazing home-cooked food. We looked forward to all meals, or even the tea.
The guy always had a smile on his face.

Will be going there again for sure.

Room Tip: There is a standalone cottage which may be smaller but gives you better privacy. The lazy chairs ar...

Me and my friends stayed in kaits homestay The scenic beauty was awesome. We enjoyed our stay throughly. Eating food out on the river-pavilion is awesome! Mr Jossy and his wife made our stay more special by providing us with excellent food.

Really lovely place on the backwaters, and very relaxing. The rooms were a little dark, but the outside bathroom at the back was a bit of a novelty! Great food (at an extra cost, aside from breakfast), served overlooking the water, and the hosts arranged a motorboat sunrise tour for us. We'd come from a houseboat, but if you want to see the smaller waterways you need to be on a smaller boat, so this was worthwhile. You can also walk along the riverside through the villages and to a little marketplace/shops etc.

We might have stayed longer, but given the time of year the backwaters were extremely humid and there were lots of mosquitos etc...obviously not a reflection on the place at all, but Nov to Feb is probably a more ideal time to go from that point of view. Air con was a necessity here!

We stayed at Kaits Home originally for 1 night but extended it to 3 once we saw the place. It really is lovely - Jossy is an excellent host recommending some fantastic activities, cooking some amazing food, and the place really is just like the photos. You get to have all your meals right on the water in a very pretty gazebo, and alongside fellow travellers if there are any staying.

Two things to consider if you decide to stay here -
1: Grab a business card from Jossy when you arrive. Many of the local rickshaw drivers were unsure where it was, as its not overtly obvious from the main road

2: Consider extra food costs. We booked the room to only include breakfast, and while Jossy and his family make an amazing dinner, you're kind of forced into eating there since there's no other restaurants within walking distance and still very few options if you take a rickshaw. I don't regret paying for dinner because it was very yummy, but it added an extra Rs.1800 onto our final bill (Rs.300 per head for three nights). Just something to bear in mind.

Those things aside we had an amazing stay, the backwaters were beautiful and peaceful, and we'd certainly stay again. Thanks again to Jossy and family.

Had a brilliant time staying at Kaits home. Food was excellent with a variety of meat and veg options, all delicious! And the family are so lovely. The riverside setting is a site to behold with a concrete tiled gazebo-style seating area looking onto the water where you eating your meals. There are canoes you can use and we took a boat onto the river which was fun and Jossy will help with organising boat trips and airport transfers etc. can't recommend it enough here... Warming family but give you your own space too. :-) watch out for the Kingfishers skimming the water!
