Cafe is hotel, dive center, minimart, in center of the village. The restaurant has a real cook..too much of the food on offer is limited to a few "balise" dishers. Few have a real cook - Sail, another up the beach

We stumbled across Amed and it turned out to be our favourite place in Bali. We stayed in Amed Cafe & Bungalows in their rooms across the road from the restaurant. The rooms/pool/surrounds were GORGEOUS - felt like I was in paradise. The rooms were nicely furnished and clean, but not over-the-top or too expensive. Also, the staff were always friendly and relaxed. We all thought we could have happily stayed longer than the 3 days we were there.

Room Tip: The rooms across the road from the restaurant were nestled in beautiful gardens and very peaceful.

We were at this hotel for 3 nights in April 2013. Staff were excellent, room was really Balinese style, beautifully clean with beautiful balcony and daybed. No tv which was fine because we read, relaxed and would generally socialize more. Breakfast was good, just enough. Pool was outside our room and went in on hot nights for a swim. Beach is rough coral and not ideal for swimming in my opinion, very sore on the feet, no in room safe, but front desk gave you a key and kept a key and had 2 locks on the bag so it was good. Staff really make this place. Great restaurant within walking distance for seafood. BBQ shrimp in bali with rice and balinese sauce is absolutely delicious.

Once we found this place in Amed we ate here at least once a day. The Chef's peanut sauce is the best Ive ever had. It is local fresh balineese food. Best food in Amed. We recommend it highly it was so good.

Dined twice to give them the benefit of the doubt, both occasions dined as a group of 3. All meals arrived separately & by the time the 3rd was delivered 2 were cold.
Doubt the sauces are anything but out of a packet.
Won't be returning

I travel for a living so I am picky about customer service, location, pricing and amenities. My wife and I looked at 3 places in Amed ( 2 from Frommer's Guide) and Amed Cafe (recommended by our great Amed-based driver Atang.

We found the best setting, room and price in Amed Cafe & Bungalows. Our first night was in the beachside bungalow which was very cute, had great ocean sounds, but had not air-conditioning. Our fault. So the rest of the 5 nights we had the Agung View 1 room which we loved! Volcano, ocean views and sounds. The room was clean, spacious and excellent air-conditioning. Outdoor shower was cool.

Remember folks, this is the tropics. Outdoor critters ( a few bugs) can come cruising into a outdoor shower. If you can handle that ( plus the way cool jungle sounds) you will love this.

-- Awesome Customer Service --
I want to give special thanks to office staff Rapiani and restaurant staff Ni. Both did everything to make stay pleasant and fun.

We are vegetarian and found the food and service for breakfast, lunch and dinner to be good and portions fine.

The Amed Cafe staff and facilities also helped with snorkel equipment, motor-scotter and massage.

I recommend Amed Cafe for a great central location, food and attentive friendly customer service.

Stayed for 2 nights recently in a room that cost $40 per night. Great value. The room was clean and staff were great. Food in the restaurant ok. Handy shop right on site to buy supplies. Hotels location enables the chance to walk to restaurants close by. I love the Amed area.
