“Beautifully Relaxing”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

I really enjoyed my stay here. My favorite thing: The pillows. They were grand. The rooms were very clean with great ocean views. The bathrooms had large showers with soap and shampoo wall mounts. The room has a light, airy quality and a nice little balcony. The walk down to the pool and reception was very steep from our room, but most of the hotels in Amed were like that. One of the pools was a little cloudy, but the other was beautiful and really pleasant. The views over both pools to the ocean were wonderful and we spent a lot of time eating and relaxing while staring out over the ocean. It's not on a stretch of shore with very good beaches, so don't expect to lay out on the sand. The food was fine but not exciting at all. The dining area is relaxing and open-air and we enjoyed socializing with the other guests.
Amed is mostly a place for diving, so we did very little other than relax and dive. There did not seem to be a lot of activities or walkable attractions/shops.

We stayed in a Bungalow room.Bed was just ok and no kettle in the room for morning coffee.
Breakfast was not available until 7:30
Only had breakfast there which was ok.
Best feature is that there is two nice pools both with an ocean view.
We only stayed one night then moved elsewhere,to a better snorkling beach.

Room Tip: Bungalow is large and except able for the price.

The location is very nice with a beautiful view of the see. There are two clean swimming pools to be enjoyed and we were lucky to get a beautiful room with a see view for two nights stay. However, the next morning we were disappointed to hear that we have to leave our room unexpectedly as it was booked for another guest. We were not informed upfront about this and it somewhat left us with the bad taste. The stuff was impolite and offered us another room but much darker and not of the same standard. We were offered no gratification for our forced move, therefore left very disappointed. The stuff requires more professionalism and politeness and understanding of working in the hospitality business.

Great stay at this hotel. As two couples, they gave us side-by-side rooms with a shared balcony and beautiful view of the ocean. Rooms were a good size, immaculate, and quiet. Service staff was friendly and efficient, and did whatever they could to make our stay more than comfortable. The food wasn't too fancy, the menu offering basic balinese, italian and american dishes, but it was easy to go elsewhere for some tastier grub - good restaurants within walking distance (15 min). Daily scooter rentals are available for a good price - required and highly suggested for getting around to the beaches, villages, restaurants and phenomenal snorkelling spots that are interspersed along the scenic ocean- and hillside road. Bali Reef Divers dive shop is conveniently located on-site, and offers great diving deals.

Stayed here in December 2013, weather was stormy in the afternoons which was perfect for having a banana lassi, a bintang, and playing cards under the umbrellas. The best part of this hotel is it's relative quietness in comparison to other hotels in Amed - there are hardly any people around/neighbouring hotels, so much that it feels like you have a part of the beach to yourself - and there are limited people coming up to you to ask you if you would like to go snorkelling in comparison to other hotels. So, you have peace here. The second thing that stands out is the beautiful pool overlooking the sea and the lawn chairs that you can lounge on with your feet dangling over the sea. This combination was extremely relaxing. We negotiated a good price (make sure you check different online booking companies, as prices can be competitive for this hotel and the management has deals sometimes), so we were booked in two very nice adjoining rooms with a shared balcony overlooking the sea. I actually really liked the rooms. I liked the balcony to read a book on when the weather got bad, and the four poster bed was nice and rooms were spacious, even though a bit dated when it comes to decor. The food in the hotel was okay, service was very good but I think you can get better fish down in Amed itself at a local fish restaurant, but given that you don't have much option around you, the restaurant is pretty decent :) All around, an extremely relaxing stay here, which was exactly the type of trip I was going for in Amed!

Room Tip: higher level rooms that have a balcony overlooking the sea are better.

Stayed here in Nov 2013, weather was great. Nice snorkelling right out the front of the hotel. Good dive shop at the hotel. The diving was all shore based but was well worth it, and it was cheap. Think I got upgraded to a maser suite which was excellent. Great view over the ocean. Food at the hotel was good, reasonably priced. Service couldn't be faulted. Recommended place to stay and dive.

Room Tip: Corner suits that faces the ocean generally have the best views.

The first thing I should say in this review is that we got upgraded to a Master Villa room (which we didnt book). But fair enough, it was empty and they upgraded us, so they deserve the praise. My ratings are based on the room we actually got, as I cannot comment on the room we should have got! But one needs to take this into account.

I should also point out that the beaches at AMED are not the lovely white sand beaches you can find elsewhere in Bali. These are black sand (volcanic) and stoney beaches, and quite narrow. This area is good for snorkelling and diving. More on that later, first the hotel.

We were very happy with our (upgraded) room (#331). It had a huge lounge (nice entertainment system and lots of TV channels), a fully equiped kitchen (but who is likely to self-cater here?), large master bedroom, large bathroom, and a huge terrace. Well appointed in all areas. So utterly superb. By far the best room we stayed in on this trip.

Service in the hotel was fine, perhaps a bit slow to clear tables. Food nothing to complain, nothing special either. The staff were friendly and helpful.

There are two small pools. The one we used was quite nice, although the bottom was continually sloping which made it a bit awkward. The other is a bit bigger, much deeper and frequently used for dive training it seems.

I snorkelled off the beach in front of the hotel which was not totally amazing (there are better sites nearby) but was nevertheless pretty good. Many interesting corals, many large and colourful fish. as is the case with many hotels in karangasem, as soon as you step out of the beach you are likely to get hassled by people wanting to take you on a boat trip (to places you can actually get to quicker by car or motorbike). Not really the hotels fault, I guess there is nothing they can do to stop the "beach mafia". Best to ignore or say no thanks. If you need a mask/snorkel, they will rent you one at reasonable cost.

Would defintely come back again, indeed I am already thinking of bringing my daughter here for a longer stay and more snorkelling. Enough said. Thank you Puri Wisata!

Room Tip: We were in Villa Flores (#331), I think its the best room they have and would highly recommend it!
