There is a Double one and a Double one two...confusing. Two different locations Double one is on the ocean side Double one two is across the road. One is a bit nicer and more popular we booked #2 (cheaper) upon arrival there was no Wifi as advertised so they moved us to the other hotel. There is frequently no wifi as advertised (it's not a 1st world country) so it was really awesome of them to move us to the nicer hotel give us breakfast and no Hassel.

Room Tip: Pay the extra and stay at one but two was also good for the price.

Three friends and I stayed here for a week in April 2013. I think it is fair to say we all loved it.

Upon arriving in Bali, we stopped one night in Ahmed. Being close to the road and quite noisey we decided to look elsewhere. Taking a motorbike and heading west to east along the coastal road, I stopped and inspected more than 10 hotels in the mid to budget price range before plumping for Double One.

Initially we were three, so we took a room with one single and one double bed. It was amicably agreed that an additional mattress would be provided at no extra cost when the fourth member of our group arrived. The room itself was very spacious (even with the additional mattress), tasteful and modern. It had uber comfy beds, a large bath, walk in shower, air conditioning, coffee table and chairs, mini-bar, Wi-Fi and party sized verandah. Given the very reasonbale low-season price, we felt we like we were drinking champagne for the price of Cava!

As the bungalows are down stairs and away from the road there were no noise issues. The lush setting was peaceful and relaxing. This was only enhanced by the infinity pool and sun-loungers situated next to the restaurant on the beach front. Sadly, the pebble beach wasn't so attractive, but that didn't bother us.

Breakfast, consisting of tea or coffee, fruit salad or fruit juice and two eggs any style with toast, was promptly and efficiently served each morning. We were all more than satisfied, which made
the rest of the menu a bit hard to fathom. Sadly, staples like pasta and burgers were below par and dissapointing, encouraging us to dine out each night at the plethora of local Warungs. That realy was Double One's only drawback.

The Manager, Sophie, was warm and helpful, as were the staff. I would have absolutely no hestitation recommending this place or going back there again myself.

Room Tip: The complex of bungalows is terraced. Larger rooms in the middle or at the bottom offer closer prox...

We, my husband and I, spent 2 marvellous days in Double One Villas.
Nice room in front of the Ocean, Nice staff and good food and services! The staff help us to rent scooter and give all informations we need.
We just relax and enjoy the swimming pool and the Ocean.
We will come back to Amed and Double One Villas and recommend it to our friends.

This group of villas is built into a hillside, with the price getting higher as you get closer to the beach. It was worth it to us, to have a nice view. The villas have nice big porches with chairs. There is an outdoor restaurant and a small pool by the waterfront. The beach is not really someplace to go swimming--rocky and very small. The restuarant was ok--but the servers were very friendly. We had a big downpour at night and the one place the roof leaked was right over my suitcase-don't put your suitcase on the couch in the villa closest to the water! The reason I liked this place was because we had airconditioning, but there was a vent all along the roofline, so we could hear the ocean waves all night!

Room Tip: Pay for the rooms closer to the ocean

Double One Villas was a peaceful, pretty refuge after the busyness of Ubud. My room was spacious, well furnished and clean. The covered porch was a great place to sit and enjoy the lovely hillside garden. The staff was friendly and helpful. Although the beach was small and rocky, I could get in the water and swim a short distance to the adjoining resort where the snorkeling was excellent. It was a short walk to another cove where there was a sandy beach and even better snorkelling. I describe my experiences at Double One Villas in “Two Journeys: Swimming from Darkness to Light,” a book I wrote about my adventures in Bali as a solo traveler (available on Amazon and Wattpad).

2 star hotel, local management. Clean and affordable. Big balconies and big rooms, they have 10 villas, few nites I was the only guest but on xmas/new yrs it was fully booked, also popular among local Bali people. Next door is Puri Wirata by internation management, embroided towels, own spa etc, small differences. Lot of stairs, kitchen was sometimes a lotterykitchen but overall food was ok. On the beach there are some snorkling gear sellers who do not work for the hotel. They are quite aggressive and one of my Usa friends got sexually harrased by one of these guys. They left Amed because of that. We spoke to the management of the hotel. Snorkling in front of the hotel was not good, try Lipah beach.

Room Tip: Choose rooms closer to the sea, less stairs going to the restauramt/beach.

Double OneAmed Resort is situated in the north east of Bali facing out across the sea towards Lombok. The Amed area is often referred to as the "REAL" Bali. We are only a two hour drive from the hustle and bustle of Kuta and Denpasar but the difference is remarkable. Time is not measured in hours and weeks here but by the setting and rising of the sun and the appearance of the full moon. By the gentle sea breezes of the dry season and the monsoonal downpours of the wet season. Here life continues onwards as it always has done - with a calmness and tranquility that leaves the mind and body soothed and peaceful. ... more   less
