I agree with the previous review. I stayed in their lovely room above the restaurant which couldnt have been nicer with veranda looking over the water and a/c but i was aware the rooms across the road werent so peaceful. However this isnt unique to this guesthouse as there are alot of local noises such as roosters and builders. Overall the pricing was too high, i only ate at the restaurant one night. I later moved to cheaper beachside accommodation down the road where i felt a bit cosier. The snorkelling out the front is impressive. The dive master really knows his sites and was able to direct me to some great hidden finds but yes, there is a lack of respect for the marine life and i felt there might have been a preference for catching rather than viewing some of the fish we saw. I was more inclined to go and find someone else to book further trip arrangements.

I stayed at Diver's Cafe in Amed from November 19-26. I was told by email that if I dove and stayed with them I would get a package price. Most of the local dive shops advertised prices of about $60 a day which included diving and a room. I was the only person in the resort so I assume it was their low season. When I went to pay for my room I was given a bill for full price of $25/night for the room and 275 for the 11 dives at $25 each. I asked for my discount as promised me. The owner went into hiding and would not respond to my request to discuss the bill with him. Now that I am home I see that he charged my VISA $300 for the dives. I don't know exactly why my VISA charge is more than the price on my receipt unless there is an currency exchange charge.
The rooms were fairly nice, but they don't clean them more than every 3 days, and the hike up to my room was a fairly long trek. There were many noises like dogs barking, roosters crowing and cats fighting, that kept me from getting a peaceful nights rest. The food in the restaurant was overpriced compared to the place down the street. A fish dinner was $8 at Divers and down at Three Brothers it was $2.50 for a better meal. The food service area is not clean. The location on the reef is good for snorkeling right out front.
The dive master was a not trained like most PADI divers to have respect for the sea life. He is also the owner of the resort. He brings a long metal skewer along on the dives and uses it to poke into the sea creatures. An octopus tried to hide and he poked at it for a very long time and I feel quite certain that he damaged it. I tried to pull him off it but he resisted my pleas.
I would advise anyone considering using this Dive Shop or the Resort to reconsider. There are much better options available. I met some people staying down the street who had a much better experience. They were given discounts on the room and on their dives and were guided on how to dive with respect for the sea life. This was at Geria Giri Shanti Bungalows which I would highly recommend
