“Would stay again in a heartbeat! A slice of paradise”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

I'm a solo traveler - first time to Bali. I decided I wanted to do something off the beaten path so I chose this place based on other tripadvisor reviews. I loved it. Beautiful property and facility. Best banana pancakes I've ever had. The family and folks that own the business are very genuine and such a pleasure to meet. Amed is a bit of paradise. Incredible snorkeling just steps from your room...food, store, ATM all within a minutes walk but you wouldn't know it when you are out on the bulkhead enjoying the views, watching the fishermen and relaxing. I would highly recommend Bubu Racok.

We are two backpackers who can`t give a lot of money on accomodation. This homestay made us feel like king and queen. The owner, Wayan, helped us whenever he could. When a boatcompany did forget to pick us up, Wayan helped us to bargain with the company-owners so they would bring us the same day to the Gilis for no extra money.
The room was very clean (very), hot shower, an A-MA-ZING VIEW and WIFI.. The most important things a backpackers needs...

Cozy new home-stay facing the beach with side view of Mt.Agung and Mt.Batur. Only that could be mark of a great place. But there is also Wayan, owner of the guesthouse, his hospitality, wonderful breakfasts, stories about old times, fishing and of course the fresh fish. For us it was best stay in Ahmed and, I would say, even in whole Bali. One day I hope we'll have a chance to come back.

Our stay at Bubu Racok was truly delightful. Amed is a small fishing village on the NE coast of Bali, in the shadow of a large volcanic mountain. We were seeking a slow, relaxing, quiet and beautiful retreat from the mega-touristy southern peninsula of Bali, and that's exactly what we got. Wayan is as genuine and friendly of a proprietor as can be found: his discreet presence was just enough so that we felt well cared for and attended to. Our room was simple, clean & comfy. Coffee, tea & hot water were available 24/7, right on our own shaded private deck. Fresh juices were served whenever we asked. The homemade breakfast and dinner was absolutely to die for: the tastiest and most authentic Balinese cuisine we had during our entire Bali trip was at the Bubu Racok. Wayan also hooked us up with snorkeling equipment, and all the best recommendations for what to see and do in the area & how. It took us about a day to catch the slow rhythm of the Bubu Racok @ Amed, but once we caught it - we didn't wan't to leave. "Slowly, slowly.." he always said. A very wise man, indeed!

Room Tip: Only 2 rooms here: upstairs & downstairs.

I've been stayed in Amed in 2 days ago. Exactly, I've been stayed in Bubu Racok. Bubu Racok is a place for enjoying amazing view and beautiful underwater. Bubu Racok has a good room for ‘lazy time’ with beautiful view in the top one, and also in the 1st floor We can enjoying view near from beach. Specially, I can't forget "Bli Wayan" the great people with all the kindness and hospitality. Wanna eat more great breakfast in Bubu Racok! Thanks "bli"!

One of a kind experience, mainly thanks to Wayan, the owner of the guesthouse. The accommodation, the location, the fresh fish, the hospitality of the locals, all these things and many more will certainly make a superb holiday, but what really makes it unforgettable is being hosted by Wayan and thanks to him getting to know a little more about this little piece of paradise.

Apart from the superb setting, simple but clean rooms a real highlight is the owner who is so helpful and knowledgeable about local snorkeling spots (his advice led us to see turtles on 3 occasions). The mackerel grilled on the beach with Balinese sides was delicious too. I would love to go back.
