“Bungalows next to the beach.”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Small pleasant place to stay for a few days. Rooms small, no TV, fridge, or hot water. Air con works well. Supply simple breakfast. Manager Pari nice friendly guy, helpful if u need a motor bike, fishing trip or diving.
Nice clean swimming pool, only 3 lounges, not enough for 6-7 rooms, and worse is they are in the direct sun, NO umbrellas. I have mentioned this during 2 other visits, but the owner does nothing!!!
Snorkling right out the front of Villas, but have to walk on small stones to,get into the water in this area.

Room Tip: Ground level rooms seem quieter, top level you can hear the motor bikes going up the hill.

This hotel is located right on the beach and very reasonable. Pary and his brother go out of their way to make an unforgettable stay. The rooms are clean and spacious. Take a trip up the hill either by bike or walking for an amazing view at sunset.

Room Tip: No hot water and a small but adequate pool. Hawkers do not bother you in Amed as this is the nice pa...

Sometimes it is hard to think you are going back home when you are not convinced about a place.

This is what happened to us while staying in another place nearby. We left asap and found De Potrek. Here we feel le going home.

They are located right at the harbor in front of Eco Dive (also a good pick to dive the USS liberty). The place is cute and simple but the most important: clean, Air Con works great and the beds are good.

The 2 brothers running the place, as mentioned in other comments, are really a Gem. Super nice and good advices. They will NOT push you to stay. They want it to be your decision as they say because this is gid vacation. They can help you find restaurants, drivers, local Highlights.

The breakfast are good as well, right next to the pool. If you like snorkeling, it will take you a... 20m? walk across the beach.

You can also get massage here. If you want a safe choice, simply stop by, have a look and see if your feeling matches this review.

De Potrek is an excellent place to stay when you are in Jemeluk. We also recommend Jemeluk as the best base to explore the Amed region. De Potrek is situated right in front of the place were the Kuda Hitam express docks. The rooms are quite big and cheap (400k) but very clean. The pension is located on the beach, just 50m from the best place to snorkel, the pool isnt that big but very clean. The rooms upstairs have à nice seaview. The walls arent thin, but the ceilings and windows arent isolated, which means you can hear your neighbours and the noise from the scooters and roosters outside, but earplugs are the solution! The breakfast is delicious! Omelet or pancakes, fresh fruit juice or fruit, coffea or tea,... Pari and his brother are really helpfull, they arrange a scooter or shuttle for you for a good, normal price, advies you with your itinerary and best places to go. À very nice and affordable place to stay!

Room Tip: An upstairs room!

We wound up staying here accidentally and didn't regret it for a moment. The two guys running the hotel are fantastic and really helpful. The rooms are a little small but are much cleaner and tidier then any of the other places that we stayed in Bali. The hotel sits right on the beach with excellent snorkeling and the gear can be rented from the De Potrek. If you get dropped off by a shuttle in Amed then it isn't too far to walk to get there.

We found this little place when looking around to stay somewhere in the Amed area to do some snorkeling. We planned to stay for one night and ended up staying three ... would have stayed longer if we had more time in Bali.
Great price at 300,000 Rp ($30 AU) per room per night, including breakfast. Rooms very clean, air conditioned with tasteful design and decor.
Even a small shaded swimming pool which was great to relax in.
Great location, situated right on the beach. Walk out into the water and snorkel around the coral with beautiful coloured fish and even a small submerged temple approx 30metres out.
Down south is a small Japanese wreck and a short drive north to Tulamben is the USS Liberty wreck which is spectacular. You can dive or snorkel there.
Pari (the friendly manager) can organise transport (bike or car) and snorkeling gear.
Plenty of restaurants in the area

Room Tip: All rooms were top class

We went to Amed on the recommendation of the owner of a hotel in Changgu and were not disappointed. We stayed a night further down the coast but moved to De Potrek Villas for the remainder of the stay. The rooms were reasonably priced and well laid out with good air conditioning and bathroom.

However as mentioned in another review the main highlight is Wayan/Pari who runs the hotel and really made the trip. He was really friendly and as we were the only people staying he took us out every day to interesting places like local waterfalls and temples before letting us have a few drinks (and an impromptu gig) with his friends, which was an amazing night.

The villas have a small but very good pool and it's right on the beach (where we got a fisherman to take us out fishing at 5am).

I would love to go back and stay here again and cannot recommend it enough (genuinely fully 5 stars below).
