What a wonderful stay we had. Beautiful, well maintained public areas, gorgeous, spacious and spotlessly clean villa with stunning views. Service was fabulous - nothing was too much trouble and the smile never faded. Food fantastic - out of 12 meals we ate only one elsewhere and regretted it terribly. Only a shame that the beach wasn't more accessible with our small children but the staff was wonderful about driving us back and forth at a moment's notice. All in all, our best experience in Bali! Would recommend to anyone.

We stayed here the final two nights of our trip and it was a great way to finish up. The one bedroom villa was unbelievable with our own private pool, living area, and kitchen overlooking the ocean (beautiful sunrise). Only major complaint is that the room had an open air bathroom. I would highly recommend adding a door at least to the toilet and sink area, so you don't have to fight off the Mosquitos if you need to use the bathroom at night. It would be a simple enough fix and make a hug difference. Since we were here during the rainy season, it would also have been great to have the living room screened in so we could sit outside in the evening. Other than that, we had a lovely stay and I would recommend this place to anyone looking to escape the crowds of seminyak, ubud etc. Amed is a sleepy little fishing village, perfect for getting away from it all. Plus, we got a great, off season price!

Thank you for your kind comments and for your visit at The Griya Villas and Spa. During the rainy season unfortunately mosquitoes are also more common, but we always try to put a special emphasis to regular mosquito fogging. Usually this is not a major issue since the Griya is located in the higher elevation and we are enjoying quite regular breeze at the resort. We are sorry if you felt uncomfortable about the mosquito (which we will work even harder to minimize in rainy season), but at the same time we are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your holiday and The Griya. We are looking forward to welcome you back as our guest soon again.

We spend at The Griya 4 days around New Year 2014. At the New Year evening there was two choices of Restaurant where to eat you dinner. At Safka Restaurant had buffet and Maku Wine & Dine had a Tasting menu. We end up choosing Safka and buffet. Food was excellent and there was just enough choices, really great combination for western and indonesian food.
They had a live music, great band was entertained us while we had a dinner. Later on there DJ palying dancemusic at Safka Terrace and we did have fun time dancing, having drinks while everybody was waiting to fireworks and year to change to 2014.
There is also Channa Spa, and it was a relaxing place and really good massage. After massage I was so relaxed, I almost forgot which Villa I was staying in...
If you ever need a break like from everything, and just want to spend holiday in paradise, The Griya Villa and Spa is the place! Villas are a amazing! Thank You The Griya's people for everything, looking for seeing you again.

My family and I stayed at the 3 bedroom villa in January for 3 nights. We were picked up by friendly drivers from the airport and the journey to The Griya took about 2.5 hours. The villa was absolutely awesome with a fully equipped kitchen and a relatively large private pool. The rooms were extremely comfortable with a pleasant woody-grassy smell. The only considerably down-side to the rooms were the occasional lizard droppings on some parts of the bed, but i guess this can't really be helped (just be sure to cover your bed with the sheets during the day).

The service at The Griya was sincere and personalized. The friendly staff would offer to help you with your itineraries and provide constructive suggestions and alternatives. Thanks to them, we managed to have a great short trip around the area and catch the beautiful scenery consisting of mountains and streams. Room service was also available and we were able to have breakfast/ lunch/ dinner at the comfort of our own villa (thanks to all the staff who had to walk/ climb all the way up to our villa, which was situated at the very top).

All the staff (be it reception, housekeeping, engineers, or gardeners) would always always make eye contact with us and greet us with their warm smiles no matter how tired they might be. Major thumbs up to all the members of The Griya; thanks to all of you, we have had an unforgettable experience in Bali!

We stayed there for two nights. It was really a luxury and natural experience. Ocean-view villa is amazing, food, drink, spa and service is really impressive. We believe that we will come again, and it’s for sure that we will recommend this wonderful place to our friends who will go to Bali in future.

I would recommend this place to any of my friends going to Bali!

Travelled as a couple in December 2013 and stayed 6 nights and would immediately return if I only could. The local manager Roma was very helpful and friendly, the atmosphere was very welcoming. You can directly contact the hotel to ask for better rates…

You will not find something comparable if you're looking for a luxury stay with a private Pool in the North of Bali, means far away from the tourist places in the South of Bali. THE GRIYA's Pool Villas are outstanding... in particular compared with reference luxury hotel in the North - THE DAMAI - located in Lovina (where we stayed 2 nights and returned straight to THE GRIYA).

The Pool Villa
We stayed in the Studio Pool Villa No. 3. We also visited some of the 2 and 3 bedroom Villas.
The view over the sea is just amazing. Infinity Pool. Since they are all orientated east, you enjoy the sunrise every morning. Not much to say about the Villa just look at the pictures, new, fully equipped, decorated very pleasantly, especially the bathroom, strictly clean, the kitchen is very useful (with fresh cold/hot water dispenser). The privacy of the pool is great.

Hotel
The garden, restaurant, bar and swimming pool are great, with an outstanding view over the sea. The construction works are finished (only some new Villas on the top of the hill are still under construction). Unfortunately there are some new constructions on the neighbor’s property in front of the main swimming pool but for the time being they are not disturbing. And, with the private Pool, we never went to the main swimming pool.

Restaurant
Great breakfast à la carte. Diner is perfect too. For dining, ask to be seated in front of the main swimming pool with view over the sea. We went out for diner outside the hotel several times, the only comparable restaurant was the COCONUT (SANTAI), which belongs also to THE GRIYA. You can also eat at the restaurant SAILS but it is not comparable with the THE GRIYA or COCONUT.

SPA
The SPA team is very friendly and we tried several treatments, great!
Just one of the massages techniques - the Reiki - was not convincing.

Service
THE GRIYA is a new place and some of the staff does not perfectly speak English, still taking learning lessons with the management. But I learned that they were employed locally and that tourism is young in this area. I personally prefer to finance local people in a place away from mass tourism in the South and completely westernized hotels.

The prices are competitive for such luxury, I accept some imperfectness.
Last but most important, this place is very charming where you can still meet some very friendly local Balinese people!

Traveling time
We travelled in December during the beginning of the rainy season - since AMED is a dry region for Bali, I can recommend it even during this time. We had mostly sunny days with some rain - always warm.

Region AMED
The Hotel is very well situated - of course for diving at Tulamben. But also for the The Water Palace of Tirtagangga with a source (swimming pool), White Sand Beach or for visiting rice fields...

Thanks again!!

Room Tip: Pool Villa 3 has like the other villas a breathtaking view over the sea

We spend some nine days in The Griya Villas and Spa on the October. The purpose was to take a deserved break from the work and to escape the darkness, which dominates the view here up North during the fall.

We selected The Griya based on the recommendation of our friend and didn't need to regret that choice at all. The resort offers - as they promise - a luxury villas, where rooms are cleverly designed around the private pool and which provide a beautiful view over the sea towards Gili Islands.

The service in the resort was all the time very polite and helpful. The food at Safka restaurant was tasteful and in the menu you find a wide selection to choose. The fine dining restaurant Maku was not yet opened during our visit - however we were already very pleased the food served and the people working in Safka.

No need to mention, but Bali is very beautiful island and there is lot to see. We used the resort car and driver for our trips to the other parts in Bali. Even Amed is a bit remote place, it was pretty convenient to make e.g. a day trip to Ubud or a trip around the Eastern Bali.

We had a relaxing holiday in Bali and in The Griya Villas and Spa in Amed. Our thanks to the whole staff in The Griya.
