We have recently returned from our second stay at the wonderful Villa Celagi and are already planning our next visit.
The villa is fantastic - plenty of living space indoors, but it is the outdoor areas and pool overlooking the ocean that make it absolute perfection for a relaxing holiday. The photos cannot do it enough justice - walking onto the verandah when you first arrive is breathtaking.
Other than the villa and view, it is the people that make this an extra special place. Wayan looked after us so well. She is able to help with any requests (need a scooter, local info etc) and is a fantastic cook - we ate in most evenings. Komang ensures the gardens and pool look wonderful and Ketut is able to provide transfers and day trips - he has a wealth of information not only on the local area but also the history of Bali. He and his wife run the local di Lipah Warung, which I highly recommend.
The owners Theresia and Jonathan kept in touch to ensure all was well with our stay - my only negative comment is that they own this villa and I don’t .
If you are reading this review as you are thinking of booking Villa Celagi, then just do it. You will not regret spending time here.
Villa Celagi is a dream,
1 min after arrival, we ask, whether we have to go out for anything!
The Villa is huge, about 400m² on a ground of about 2000m². We had a big private pool and a private ocean access. The whole property is very well kept by Wayan (Thank you for you excellent cooking and service) and Dirta (Manager) and a private gardener (Koman). A lot of activities, sailing, motorbike rent, tour to the volcano, and and and, can be organized very reliable by the staff. We really recommend it highly and will come back there on our next Bali trip.
Thanks also to Theresiea and Jonatan, the always keep contact to us by mail (only don't know who wrote) and care about very much.
From the moment you walk in the front door and smack eyes on the view out to the ocean you just know you are on a good thing. This Villa is huuuuuuge! And so is the pool! Others have said it, but I have to say it again - the photos don't do it justice (and they are wonderful photos). Plenty of room to move. Superb choice of music to play and books to read. Spotlessly clean. The two bedrooms are very separate so privacy is assured. Meals cooked for you are plentiful and delicious. The kitchen is massive. You can open the entire front of the villa which overlooks the ocean which allows are beautiful breeze to come through. There are plenty of fans and air con in the rooms. Stay here. You will not be disappointed.
We absolutely loved out stay at Villa Celagi. The whole experience was seemless from booking, question answering to the stay itself. We are still missing Wayan and her amazing breakfasts not to mention the Villa itself, the amazing pool and that view! If you are considering this property you will not be disappointed. As other reviews have stated there are a number of steps as the property is on a hillside so I would say it would be less suitable for less able bodied elderly and young children. An absolutely amazing spot to relax and really unwind.
Food wise, having sampled many of the local warungs our pick is Warung Celagi which is about a 10min scooter ride away in Amed, amazing curries and yummy sate and extremely reasonably priced although there are still some good options within 5 minutes if you dont want to travel that far and you can also ask Wayan to prepare a meal for you, she is an amazing cook. Wayan and the team are a wealth of information and can organised everything for you (bike hiring, snorkel gear, fishing trips, drivers etc etc). We will definitely be back.
The view, the villa, the service personal are excellent. There are some stairs, so it might be the only drawback for some people or very small children. Otherwise, just book it, and you won't regret it.
My wife and I shared this Villa with another couple for A month we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it.. The staff was wonderful they're all related in some way our cook /house keeper was awesome. Breakfast each morning was made to order she also arranged A motorcycle for the month we stayed there.
One word of advice if you're planning on staying there and renting a motorcycle be cautious as the roads are narrow and the bigger vehicle the more rights it has!
Also the driving age Bali is 16 button in Amed as soon as your able to reach handlebars you're good to go. We saw kids as young as eight drive/riding so don't be surprised if you get past by a kid who's feet can't reach the ground from the bike. It's a dangerous place to ride, but if you're confident you shouldn't have any problems.
The best part of the house is location and the privacy along with the pool. We were there for the diving and we're not disappointed there're lots of dive shops in the area we used echo dive they were great they're also restaurants within walking distance. But with the bike you're able to access A lot more. The villa itself is large enough for two couples comfortably.
But if you're not into diving most of the activities are quite a drive Ubud three hours, water Temple2 hr but the good news there is a driver you can hire his part of the staff. All and all I think anyone renting this place Will enjoy it ,even if it's just sitting by the pool all day long.
