We had a nice stay at the Anda Amed. Loved the pools and the location.

Amed is a sleepy coastal place and the most detracting thing about the place are the jigalow men hanging around looking for single ladies- or for that matter any lady.

We soon realised there are cheap hotels on the beach and a nice one we saw was benten enjung bungalows on a nice beach.

Enjoy amed!

Thank you for your review. I am glad you liked staying at our resort. I would like to point our that the gigilo boys are not hanging around our hotel although I know they are at some of the bars in the area. Hopefully they did not spoil your holiday.

I think a review should be as fair as possible, so let me say a couple things that I really liked about Anda Amed. It has a wonderful view of the ocean, very good staff, and beautiful rooms with just what you'd want in Bali: AC, a TV, lovely patio areas, etc. The pictures on trip advisor seemed accurate.

Here's what my wife and I found difficult. Fist, the bug situation. Bugs are obviously unavoidable in Bali, and we were well aware of and comfortable with that. But the bug netting hanging around our bed in Anda Amed was a bit dirty with bugs and light stains. We did a quick check of the mattress for a certain type of bug that can make life very difficult (we've had an infestation once before, and so we are particularly cautious when traveling) and found a disturbing amount of dark particles in the mattress seams--which are the telltale sign. Upon bringing this to the attention of the staff, who were exceptionally kind and accommodating, we were shown another room, but it had similar problems.

Second, and here's what really made things difficult that day, when the staff brought these concerns to the attention of the owner, she came to us and began to scold my wife and I for even daring to suggest her hotel had a bug problem in the mattresses. By that point, we were ready to leave for another hotel. We were willing to pay for that night, but she insisted we pay her the sum total for all the nights we had booked. Needless to say, we weren't happy about that.

This may all sound pretty bad, and to an extent it is. But there have been many positive reviews of this hotel, and I would urge those who have read this to have a look at the positive reviews also. Many people have apparently had a very good experience here, and chances are you might too.

With regard to this review I was aware that it would be made as the threat of a bad review was mentioned by the guests when they did not acheive their goal. Firstly this hotel has been open for more than 10 years and has never had a problem, complaint or a circumstance where bed bugs have been found. The guests arrived and pulled all of the sheets and mattress protector from the bed, they found a few specs of dust between the mattress and its trim and proclaimed these were beg bugs. To my knowledge bed bugs are not visible to the naked eye, only when the little critters bite do you become aware of their existence. The couple were not scolded, it was pointed out that the booking they had made had policies where by if the booking was cancelled prior to arrival there would have been no charge but as stated on the website and with agents that unless there is an emergency guests cannot check out without honouring the booking. As a hotel we must honour our guests reservations & cannot just cancel them if we are offered a better price for our room, so it works both ways. We are a very small boutique hotel and every room counts, there had been other enquiries for this room which we had declined due to the reservation. My staff were informed by their driver that they had looked at other hotels on their journey and decided they would like to stay else where (obviously this is only hear say), but I guess this was a good way of getting out of their booking. I have always thought that trip advisor was a great idea for people looking for places to stay, however, lateley it has become a weapon by an unscrupulous few to threaten hoteliers & restaurants into unfair and unreasonable demands & that is a very sad thing.

There were a number of things we really liked about this place, from the two cute resident ducks, to the beautiful flowers and gardens. We loved the turndown service at night, and I especially liked the black currant tea in the room as well as the Moroccan Apple tea at the restaurant. The fresh flowers in the room and the gardens looked and smelled lovely, especially the tuberose, plumeria, and hibiscus. We enjoyed our welcome drinks of watermelon juice and slices. All the mosquito repellants they provided were really helpful. They also gave us a mobile phone to use, since our villa was far away from reception. The flashlight they provided was also very helpful, as the path can use a bit more lighting at night. Our girls enjoyed the bunk beds, but the top bunk was a bit dirty. We were there for Christmas and really enjoyed the tree, ornaments, and garlands on display. The staff was really helpful and friendly.

I wish the wifi would have reached into our room, but it was nice to have that added help to unplug for a bit as well. The geckos do make quite a mess, and it would have been nice to have it a little bit cleaner in that regard. A larger selection of children's/family DVDs would have been appreciated. Fresher towels would have been nice, since ours smelled like mildew. The water pressure in our shower and bathtub was too low to use (for warm water) on one of the nights we were there. We had one small 240 ml plastic cup of water (with no straw to open it) in the room provided for our family of five. We certainly would have appreciated more. Also, more shampoo and conditioner supplies would have been appreciated as well, since we are a family of long haired individuals, for the most part. There were two little shampoo sample packets and two conditioner sample packets.

As we were staying over Christmas, we were invited (through email) to spend Christmas dinner with them after we booked our villa, but there was no indication of price, so I mistakenly thought it would be included in the price of the room which they quoted us to be $130 USD per night. We were unpleasantly surprised when the price we were asked to pay upon checkout was a little over 4 million Rupiah for our two night stay. The Christmas dinner (buffet), which was delicious, cost us an unexpected 600,000 Rupiah for our family of five, including three little girls who don't eat much at all. We would have appreciated more upfront and clear communication about price at the time the invitation was extended. We had to ask the staff what time the dinner was and they let us know it would be at 7:30pm, so we came down at that time and were then informed it had been pushed back to after 8:00. We have small children and we were all very hungry, trying to save our appetites for a delicious dinner. We were grateful they brought out some drinks, chips and popcorn to munch on while we waited. We also felt a bit out of place at the dinner because we weren't officially greeted or introduced to anybody and we were expecting a more social experience.

We also didn't realize the beach would be quite so difficult to get to, no quick and easy path, even though it was advertised as being only 100 meters away and across the road. Good thing we had our own family vehicle, so we could go down the road a ways and find some good snorkeling in front of a beautiful resort (Hidden Paradise Cottages) which allowed us access to their showers, bathrooms, pool, and lounge chairs, just for renting a little bit of snorkeling equipment.

Amed is such a beautiful place and we will certainly be back, for an even longer stay next time, but we will choose a place directly on the beach, not Anda Amed Resort.

A little away from the action, limited as it is in Amed, but very well appointed with a quite pleasant restaurant with good food. Certainly has that Greek Island feel. Our room number 1 was quiet and secluded however, like many Asian rooms, there was nowhere other than the floor for luggage despite having plenty of space behind the bed area for a luggage table or rack. The grounds were well maintained and the pet ducks amusing whilst dining.

Room Tip: Ask for a secluded villa

Thank you for visiting us at Anda Amed Resort and giving us your feedback. We will look at getting luggage racks for behind the bed area. Regards Kim & staff.

My husband and I stayed at this resort for 10 days last July.
It's really comfortable:room so nice(and huge too!)and quite;a little view on the see even if it is not directly on the beach.
Saff is really nice and amenable.(5 stars to them).
There's a nice swimming pool not so big but I think it's enough(we go to Bali to see Sea and not swimming pool..;); a lot of choose about good food (International and good local food).
The only negative annotation for us:the street is really near and overtraded(to be in Indonesia obviously)and the relax sometimes is interrupted by honks.

Room Tip: Rooms are 11 and all are quite far from the street but more near you can hear motorbikes and cars

We had 3 totally relaxing nights at Anda Amed. Our hillside ocean view bungalow was clean & comfortable - the gardens & views are just beautiful. The airconditioner did struggle to cool the hot & humid weather and it would have been nice to have a wndow to open. However, the friendly & attentive staff outweighed this - arranging tours; moped hire; snorkelling equipment. Cocktails by the pool, looking out the ocean, was just devine. We would definitely stay again!
