after 2 hours by plane and reach here 4 hours by car from Ngurah Rai Airport, we were very tired but excited! first step into the resort it was very nice, good ambience, natural but luxury. The room was nice, there is 3 hot spring water in this resort, all very relaxing so heavenly. In the morning we took a boat to menjangan island to do snorkeling trip. After all day long exploring under water and menjangan island, we had a very beautiful sunset on this resort ( u can see it on the pool and restaurant). but don't play with the monkeys, they not really friendly. :D

beautiful place, we'll come back !

Nice room with a very big hot water bath in front of the room to chill out that can accommodate 4 people (just like jacuzzi) and beautiful resto right by the water. Very near to reach the spot to go diving, snorkeling or birdwatching in the National Park.
Very friendly and helpful staff.

We didn't venture up to this remote part of Bali until our third trip, since the cultural life of a country is our primary interest. But now that we've discovered the joys of aquatic life, thanks to the wonderful snorkeling excursions Mimpi Resort offers, we'll come back every chance we get. The staff expertly and efficiently outfitted us, sped us to Menjangan island, and allowed us to explore the stunning coral reef teeming with fish. We were enchanted and did it again the next day. Back at the resort, we found our room large and attractive, with the only drawback being sound that traveled easily between the wall with our neighbor. Since it was low season and the resort was not full we could have requested a move, but were too comfortable to be bothered. The restaurant is quite good, with quasi-Balinese and international offerings and a fun drink list. Breakfasts are generous, and the fruit was top quality. We loved the spacious, well-groomed grounds as well as the pool that overlooks the mangrove estuary. The hot pools are heaven, and a nice substitute for massage that I passed up because it seemed overpriced. All in all Mimpi Resort is great value -- and a great treat.

This is my favorite place to stay in all of Bali. Located on the west end of Bali, it is a bout a 3 hour drive from the airport but worth it! Many rooms are their own villa with their own pool and natural hot springs. The room are well appointed and the service is excellent. The restaurant has a beautiful view west over the lagoon and you can see several mountains in Java. It is close to great diving at Menjangan Island that has a sunken wooden ship where you can still see bottles of wine sticking out of the bottom!

Room Tip: All rooms that have their own natural hot springs are excellant!

We have stayed here many times as expats living in Bali, the natural beauty & location is stunning....

Picture natural hot spring pools on the beach, looking at the Marine Natural park.
There are plans to develop this area, so best to go there in 2013 to see it now.

The food is far from what it could be in this unique & spectacular location.

We love the location & to have our own hot spring pool in our villa, but the meals are always disappointing, no real Balinese flavors, not enough vegetarian options or focused attention to the menu - meals arrive- bland, standard & uninspired.

For me: a hotel needs to provide, A good nights sleep, good food & inspired activities. This resort definitely offers 2 of the above.

it has been a while that I wanted to visit this area so I decided to go and stayed for 4 nights, alone.

its 3-5 hours drive from Denpasar, depending traffic and the route you took.
Choose via Munduk/Bedugul if you travel by day and you will get a chance to see the 3 lakes.
Dont expect sandy beaches coz there arent any, its a mangrove lagoon.

if you are a diver and don't care for details, then this is the place for you and considering the price paid, its totally worth it.
the room is big and spacious (I stayed in PATIO room) with nice outdoor bathroom and you also have nice terrace to sit around.
the diving center is very helpful and the staff are friendly, as it was my first dive experience, i found it above my expectations.
food in the hotel is reasonably priced and is quite good.
the pool is clean and the hot spring pools are really a treat!

but if you are not a diver and do care for details then here are some important notes:
a. there is nothing around the hotel and the nearest village is about 7km. I tried to go there by bicycle which is feasible if only the bike is well maintained (tires flat and rusted chain) and if you are not scared of the local traffic
b. if you are a snackers, then bring your own peanuts and chips coz there's nothing in the fridge
c. make sure you bring your own supply of medicine even for the small stuff (again, nothing around)
d. despite the friendliness of the staff, the service is rather dull. most of the staff have difficulties with their english and to simply explain some menu in Bahasa, they lack of knowledge of their own menu
e. transport fee are very expensive even to go as far as 7km
The hotel should offer motorbike rent instead.

Apart from that, as a solo traveler, I get what I paid.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for KING SIZE/DOUBLE BED otherwise they will get you twin beds.

Found Mimpi Resort by chance, we initially balked at the cost but other resorts in the area were more expensive. It was dark by the time we checked in. We had a spacious twin room with lovely outdoor bathroom. We enjoyed a nice Indonesian dinner (reasonably priced) and a couple beers (very expensive). In the morning we got to see the beautiful grounds, it's a paradise! The hot springs were a treat. There were only 6 rooms occupied so the place was really peaceful. The staff were very nice - helpful and friendly.

The resort is a long way from Denpasar and seems to cater for divers. The local village doesn't have places to eat which leaves you eating at the resort's restaurant. But I could see myself coming back for 2 or 3 nights for an escape from the world.
