Wawa Wewe II Villas
Reviewed 3 November 2013

Wawa Wewe II continues to be the laidback retreat it has always been. The villas are a little worn, but they keep it very clean, and my villa had a new air-con. The restaurant is still serving simple, fresh and honest food, and the service is exellent and friendly.
Since my last visit one year ago they now accept payment with credit card - apart from that, not much have changed.

Picture this for a way to start the day: banana pancake;fruit salad of paw paw, pineapple and watermelon; thick, rich Indo coffee; sun streaming down as your perched hilltop between the rolling waves and the infinity pool. Heaven and all before 8am!
This place is divine. Set off the road so the only noise will be the waves rolling across the black stone beach below.
The complex is made up of a group of villas set in lovely gardens.
We stayed in a $50 AUS a night village, which included a loft bedroom with a double bed - great for our teenage son.
The stairs up to it are a bit hairy ( with no handrail) so best to avoid with little kids.

Each villa has a table/chair setting outdoors as well as a day bed. Our's had a garden view - lovely - but there are a couple facing the beach.
A light Breakfast is included - highly recommend the banana pancake and food is served all day. Cheap and delicious - try the Gado gado (35,500) and the nasi campur (35,500).

The staff are happy to organize anything for you - boats, snorkeling gear, motorbikes.

Highly recommend

We stayed 4 nights here. We booked this place at night, so it looked nice during night with the switched on lights.
During day we could see that the whole resort not very clean. The rooms were dusty, the floor dirty. We told the staff to clean the room again for us. They just sweeped it with a broom - no wet cleaning. This place could be very nice if it would be better kept. The view and the pool is really nice.
The manager needs to put more pressure on the staff. They have a lot of staff, but most of them just sitting somewhere in the shadow most of the day.

New Wawa Wewe places are popping up all over the coast and there is rumour of a number 5 near Amed village soon leaving the Wawa Wewe II bungalows(number I has been refurbished and opened again) the oldest.
The place has still got a very peacefull and relaxed ambience, the villas are a little bit worned out, but still great value, and nothing beats the infinity pool.
The included breakfast is generous, service is informal, friendly and relaxed - the comission driven "side sales" that could be irritating a few years ago are completly gone.

Room Tip: The small villas (1 double bed) are good value at 250k.

This is the motto from Wawa-wewe's own website and it really is true. If having a frangipani placed on your pillow every night is important to you, then this isn't the place for you. But if you want to be left alone to relax in pleasant, safe surroundings, read on.
The atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff are very relaxed too but so very helpful whenever you ask. Breakfast was OK, and we found the other food to be really fresh and delicious, especially the barbecued fish. We stayed for 4 nights and didn't get bored with the menu.
The outdoor bathrooms aren't glamorous, but functional. Some fittings and furniture around the place are showing signs of wear, but it's nothing that matters. (The mosquito net in our room was new). The daybeds on the verandahs are a nice touch. And the pool - well the photos say it all! It is awesome.
Wawa wewe is very child friendly. There is a small kids pool, kids menu and the sleeping lofts in the rooms are very popular with kids. It can get pretty warm up there so ask for a fan.
When you are just relaxing with nothing to do but swim and snorkel, you have all you need.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 have sea views. Rooms 3, 4, 9 and 10 are the largest so ask for one of these if you ar...

Though we only stayed for one night, but we were really impressed by the staffs, rooms and sure the Pool!. for 400 K IDR, It was really great value.

Breakfast was nice, they have about 5 Choices of simple Breakfast. we asked for late check out at about 2Pm and they were OK.

Each room has two beds (duplex) and each bed has a mosquito net (mosquito repellent provided at room), outdoor shower and the day bed in front of the room was so relaxing.

We will be back again for sure!
