“No doubt, the best Hideaway on the Island!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2012

Everything in this place is intended to help you relax and get this unforgettable feeling of being part of Nature. Surrounding trees and flowers, your own grass lawn, crushing waves and of course the staff who does its job accurately yet not intervening your privacy.
Oh, yes, and food! It alone is worth traveling here. All comes from property's organic gardens (fish comes fresh from the sea) and cooked just right not to spoil its natural taste and health.
There are quite a few attractions in the area but we barely forced ourselves to go for a short tour given that the main attraction around is TBH itself!
Villas and suites are spacious and clean. We stayed in Mandala suite which is just 30 meters from the ocean so we could observe it playing not leaving our large bed.
And if you want some cons about this place, there is one - no Turtles :-)
We definitely make our way here during next trip to Bali!

After staying in five star resorts, we really wanted a different experience and something away from the main tourist areas of Bali. This was certainly the place to fulfill this need. We stayed in the honeymoon villa for three nights with our own pool and enjoyed the privacy of swimming and simply lounging around in our own time. The staff were friendly and never intruded on our privacy except to take our meal orders! The food is fresh and very tasty and I think we worked our way through just about every menu item during our stay. We also enjoyed some outings to local attractions for about 2-3 hours duration which was sufficient since we wanted to spend the bulk of our time at the villa. Our only criticism was the mattress and it could do with an upgrade to facilitate a more restful sleep. Other than this, Turtle Bay Hideway is a perfect place to unwind.

If you have your own transportation & want to get off the beaten path this little spot is a real find,
it's not real close to anything, but that's often the point of getting away from it all. That said if you're looking for a place to just chill this is a great spot to do it, with tastefully decorated classic
old wooden Sulawesi structures to rest your tired bones & your sure to sleep soundly & comfortably in your netted beds, with sea breezes blowing through the open air building, which resonate with the soothing sound of crashing waves into the sea wall, only 20 meters away. When you rise in the morning take your complimentary organic breakfast at your private table on the deck, then lounge in a recliner enjoying the view south to Lombok & the unspoiled natural coastline & then when you've heated up, sooth yourself with a refreshing dive into the gorgeous infinity edge swimming pool, right on the sea wall. When your tired of your solitude, you can head down the road to one of the nicest white sand beaches around, to rub elbows with a few other discerning travellers who have also roughed it to find a slice of Bali of old. Go east & you find the reconstructed Water Palace & one of the loveliest desereted mountain roads in Bali. Then for dinner enjoy fine locally grown organical dinner on your own from the helpful & corredial local staff.

Far from Bali's madding crowds is Turtle Bay Hideaway, 3 authentic wooden villas in an incredibly beautiful setting right on the beach with views south to Nusa Penida and Lombok. It is charming, peaceful and an ideal venue to spend some quiet time in nature - gardens, ocean, beach, ricefields, coconut groves, starry skies at night as well as volcano views on clear days.

All of the rooms, as well as the 2 swimming pools, look out over the ocean - crashing waves, clear waters which can be good for swimming if the waves aren't too big. The wooden villas are elegant and authentic, simply furnished with daybeds and dining tables on the terraces overlooking the ocean, perfect for reading, writing, eating and watching the waves.

The bathrooms deserve special mention, especially that of Villa Pandan which has a 'garden bathroom' with an outdoor shower and big bathtub with views of the ocean. Set in it's own garden, Pandan is totally private and peaceful with it's own pool and secluded spots for dining.

TBH has organic gardens and the food is really good quality. Lots of choice, healthy and delicious, with plenty of options for vegetarians. If you enjoy a glass of wine or beer with dinner, it's a good idea to bring it with you as selection is limited.

The private beach is black sand and rocks - great for sitting and watching the waves, but not always great for swimming. 'White Sands' beach, one of the best beaches in Bali, is just 10 minutes drive away - turquoise sea, great for swimming and simple seafood warung on a white coral beach - is a great option.

Finally - if you get the opportunity, do get a massage with Tono - a really skilled and intuitive therapist.

TBH is highly, highly recommended!

Room Tip: We have stayed in both 'Villa Kelapa' and 'Villa Pandan' and enjoyed both equally...

My girlfriend & I absolutely LOVE this place. We have lived on Bali for eight years, and have enjoyed many visits to Turtle Bay Hideaway. It's location on the east coast of Bali feels like a hidden secret ... go down a winding dirt road, past the bucolic brown cows, and through a beautiful coconut grove, to arrive directly on the sea, with majestic views looking towards Lombok.

The houses are from Madura, Northern Sulawesi, and give it an antique & rustic charm.

The food is delicious, prepared with art & love from their kitchen, and comes direct from their own organic gardens.

The place is owned by an ecologically-minded, passionate and progressive humanitarian, who contributes a lot to the health & well-being of Bali.

Absolutely Sublime!

A most unique place in an island which is getting a bit damaged by tourism. Wonderful organic food, the sea crashing at the foot of the terrace, traditional balinese architecture and especially - wonderful Balinese staff with all of the warmth and concern for other's happiness traditional on the Island. There is a fine stretch of sea right in front, where swimming is safe and easy (no oceanic currents). We will return!

Room Tip: There are only two bungalows, and both a great

From the organic garden to the comfy inviting bed... TBH is a fantastic destination for those looking to get off the beaten track and really slow down to breathe, eat delicious food, star gaze and gently fall asleep to an ocean lullaby. To go for a beach walk you take a short drive to White Sands beach, which is the most beautiful clean beach i've seen in Bali.
