“Happy with our Stay”
Reviewed 26 February 2014

Enjoyed our stay here in the 4 bedroom villa. Pool was lovely and we were always well looked after. Made use of the villa drivers numerous times as you pretty well always require a lift to anywhere. It would be perfect for groups looking to spend the day lounging by the pool and then head out for dinner or alternatively spend the day out and about and the evening back at the villa where numerous local restaurants seem happy to deliver. The central area of the villa is open but you can lock the gate to your villa and each of the individual rooms (which may or may not be an issue depending on the age of yours kids, we ended up each sleeping with a kid). There is security on site (on a side note security should be given the authority to ask other villa users to quieten down when still partying at 4am...).
My best description of our villa would be a lovely holiday house with a 5 star bathroom. Given the price that you pay to stay we were happy with our choice!

We are staying in villa 3 which is a 4 bedroom villa. 3 adults and 7 young children! Perfect for what we need. The grounds are immaculate and pool very inviting. Great price for what you get ! Breakfast cooked for you daily by the two beautiful girls. Kids loved their pancakes and bacon! Yes the location is not in the central street but a quick cab ride sorts that out. Besides, who wants to have kids right in the hustle and bustle?

We checked out the 6 bedroom villa whilst here and WOW! Gorgeous and sensational value! If you have a large group coming here then it's definitely worth checking out!

I write this review amongst several bodies immobilised from severe gastro obtained at Waterbom Park. Whilst extremely unfortunate and nothing to do with the quality of the villa, I have to make comment on the absolutely wonderful and caring staff here who have been so understanding, compassionate and helpful during this unfortunate time where we are all ill. They would do anything for us and this is something you do not receive at any hotel in Bali. Never been sick on any of my trips here so I'm very relieved that if we had to get sick we are here and safe! They came to check on us and get clean extra towels and took me to the chemist amongst everything else they do. Amazing!!!

We stayed here for my brothers wedding on New Years Eve. My family stayed in the large family villa and we stayed in the 1bdrm villa. The villas were lovely with private pool and indoor/outdoor bathrooms. The staff just couldn't do enough for you. Our breakfast was cooked daily in our villa and anything else you needed they did not hesitate to assist you. The drivers were also great, ferrying us to dinner or shopping etc and transferring us to Sanur for our next stop.
The whole wedding set up was outstanding. The staff worked endlessly to set up the marque, table and flower displays and cooking in the kitchen from early in the morning to cleaning up later in the evening. They were also fantastic with the kids.
Australian based office too for booking etc made everything hassle free.

I have just returned from a week in Bali with friends. I was unsure about travelling to Bali.We stayed in the 6 bedroom villa. Every detail of our holiday was catered for by the magnificent staff from day one. Breakfast cooked every morning at whatever time we desired. Transport arranged for day trips or shopping with very little notice. Laundry attended daily as part of the accommodation. Situated in a quaint street away from the hustle & bustle. A mixture of little shops, villas, restaurants, cafés and rice fields. Amazing. Absolutely loved it. Not long enough!

Room Tip: These villas offer 1 bedroom to 6 bedroom accommodation. Would suit most groups.

Amazing villa and a wonderful location. I was very sceptical of Bali following advice of friends, but staying out of the towns is essential now for the Bali experience you expect.

The villas themselves are wonderful; We were in the four bed villa. The villa itself was a open living area, with four en-suite, air conditioned bedrooms off of the living area and a fantastic private pool. I can’t fault the villa, although I imagine with 4 couples using it may become quite cozy, although for the two of us it was amazing. Wifi access was a bit jumpy perhaps, so don’t make the mistake of relying on it for maps or tripadvisor while away.

The staff are brilliant and go out of their way to accommodate guests. Collection at the airport, breakfast cooked in your villa for each morning and happy to arrange taxis, trips, scooter hire or anything else you require. Note that after breakfast each day they clean the villas too unless asked so they will be around, however after turning the villa down the afternoons and evenings are yours to enjoy in complete privacy if you wish. There is also a laundry service included. I’ve seen mentioned but didn’t have the opportunity to arrange a meal cooked for us in the villa, but at lunchtimes the cost is ingredients only and seems incredibly fair. They also are happy to arrange a driver for you the day, which we used to go pretty much all Bali in an effort to see all the sights in around 8 hours (be honest about what you want to see and they’ll happily take you there and tell you about life on the island).

Just a note that I have seen people on here complain about the wildlife: You are in Bali, in an open villa. If you are particularly adverse to nature (say, a gecko in the bathroom or the odd disorientated bat to swoop in) then you would be more suited to a hotel. I also once left the room one evening to find a cat skulking around our living area, although it took ran off as soon as the door was opened and wasn’t an issue.

The out of town location is great and gives it a little more of the Bali feel that I think people are still looking for. Its wonderful to wake up in the morning to the rice fields and away from the hustle and business although I know this may be more off putting for some. If you need to get into town you can call a taxi from your villa or ask reception to arrange one for you. Its very simple to do and a taxi into Seminyak costs around $5.

Tip: ask the staff to arrange the hire of a scooter for you. Definitely do this. It gives you the freedom to explore the local area without resorting to arranging a taxi or driver for the evening. I was sceptical at first but this simply thing actually turned out to be one of the highlights of my holiday. And definitely, definitely try some of the local restaurants as they’re far superior to anything you’ll find in town. I cannot recommend Nook in Umulas 1, or the nearby Bumbak Coffee for coffee and cake, enough.

This was my second stay at Villa Besar. This time I booked the 2 storey, 4 Bedroom Villa as there was 9 of us. From when we first arrived the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Any problem was solved straight away. Made and Ilu cooked for us every day and we ate in a few nights choosing from the delicious menu available. Close proximity to Seminyak and Legian made it easy for eating out on other nights and shopping trips. Would recommend Villa Besar as a great place to stay.

We have just returned from staying at Villa Besar for 5 nights as part of a month long Bali holiday with friends. Villa Besar, ( we stayed in 4 BR number 3), was our last villa before returning home. We travelled with 4 adults, three 1 year olds and three 3 year olds. Villa Besars main attraction was its permanent pool fence, which gave us peace of mind. The villa had a great pool in a small but lovely garden setting, 4 huge bedrooms, all with open air bathrooms and an open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area. Another plus for our 2 families was the daily free laundry service, the scrumptious breakfasts by Nanik and staff and we also had an evening of Indonesian curries and rices cooked for us by staff. Deera the Besar driver was on hand to drive us anywhere at 20 minutes notice for a nominal amount. Seminyak shopping or Echo Beach were 15 minutes away in traffic. With young kids we mostly ate in and all the local restaurants delivered at no charge, Japanese Seki Tai being our favourite. We had in villa beauty treatments, organised by Annie in the front office, or the nearest salon was 3 mins walk away. The owners Mike and Jenny were great to deal with via email, especially as we only booked 24 hours in advance. We love the real Bali and its people and staying in the beautiful quiet area of Bumbak, surrounded by locals and rice fields was a real find. We have already discussed returning to the 6 bedroom villa with family in the future. Thanks guys.
