“A little oasis”
Reviewed 10 April 2013 via mobile

What a little find this hotel is. Got it by word of mouth. It appears like a little oasis of calm amid the frenetic riot that is Denpasar. The service was spot on. Every request was fulfilled easily without fuss. The room was large and tastefully decorated. No restaurant on site but the staff put together a snack when it was late and I was hungry. Several cafes and restaurants close by either walking distance or get a scooter. Although they have no official scooters for hire they were more than willing to get one for me for US5 per day for exploring. To get there and if coming into Denpasar airport exit the airport building and go to prepaid taxi window on right (US25 fixed fee). Have the telephone number of the hotel to hand so the driver can get directions as inevitably he will not know where it is. Lovely grounds and pool of adequate size to get a few strokes in before hitting the end. All in all well recommended for service, value and overall pleasantness.

My wife and I stayed at Rumah Siam for four nights in September '12. I was a little apprehensive at first due to the extremely reasonable price. But, those thoughts quickly went away. Although we arrived on a midnight flight, we were greeted at the airport with smiling faces and were driven to the hotel. The staff met us at 0200 in the morning gave us a warm welcome to Bali. The room was absolutely perfect for our stay. We had the biggest room they offered, which was very spacious. It had a living area, bedroom, and a very large bathroom with a bathtub, as well as a separate shower. Though, in hindsight we never used the living room area so any of the rooms would have been just as nice. The room was well kept for the duration of our stay, with the bed sheets being changed out every day. The entire compound was extremely quiet and relaxing, providing my wife and I the quiet retreat that we were in search of. Every morning, we were greeted to a nice small breakfast (Balinese style). The staff was also very helpful at providing directions and information when needed and never seemed pushy to get us to purchase any services or to use their suggestions.

There was a pool available that was kept in pristine condition, but it was hard to take time to swim in a pool, when Bali had so many breathtaking beaches to enjoy. But we contemplated using it numerous times.

There was a kitchen onsite, with a full time cook, but we did not order anything from the menu other than breakfast.

The only negative was that due to the location, you must either rent a car, motorbike, or call a taxi to get around Bali, as the location is about a 10 minute drive from Seminyak. We chose this location purposely though to get away from the crowds. We rented a motorbike for 5 USD a day, which solved the issue of the distance. Overall, Rumah Siam met all of our needs and we would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a quiet stay in Bali.

Room Tip: Ask for one of the rooms towards the back of the compound that overlook the fields.

Decided to book a couple of nights only after reading a couple of reviews. It seemed to cheap to be any good. It was excellent! Great location for us. Set amongst rice paddies and many other villas so little traffic. It is never a bother to us to catch a taxi for a 10 minute ride to find one of our favourite restaurants. Having said that we did order room service for dinner and it was really good. Breakfast was ordinary but can't complain considering the price. Our room was huge and tastefully decorated. The staff were very friendly and all smiles. We are so excited about finding the Rumah Siam and will definitely return.

Stayed here from 24th December until the 16th January 2012.
The staff were amazing, they worked hard to make the 2 weeks a memorable time for us.
This is a real winner if you want a quiet place to get away from the hustle and bustle.
This is a clean well run local owned and staffed place where the smile is truly from the heart.

It requires you to hire a car or scooter as it is in a semi rural part of town,Umalas.
Don't let that put you off though as the riding around the area is great and it is not that far out of town, also very close to snapper corner,Bali Budha and cafe Mocha plus a plethora of local warung .Rumah Siam does have a kitchen but I only ever ate breakfast and chose to explore the surrounds for lunch and dinner.

Check out Mr Sate ,they are back towards town from Bali Budha.
Just look out on the right hand side for the round yellow signs ,it is worth the visit.
And if you like bakso there is a couple of yummy local places near snapper corner.

Go stay there on your next visit ,we had a wonderful refreshing break there.

Room Tip: All seemed good that I saw. We had a downstirs one at the rear of the hotel and it was fantastic
