I'm not sure what the last person's problem was exactly but we would have been there around the same time and had no problems at all!!! The location was great, right down the end of the street and on the beach front, so easy access for either a day of shopping or a day of relaxing in the sun! The staff were all really friendly and mostly spoke english very well.

We had a Deluxe room with Club Benefits and would definitely reccommend. This meant we got water and soft drinks throughout the day, afternoon tea with cakes, and then beer and cocktails from 5.30 to 7 with a little fingerfood also. We always made sure we were back in time for this and the staff in the lounge were lovely.

We also ate in the hotel quite a few times as they had different theme nights which always interested us. I can also highly reccommend the Chocolate Calzone with Strawberry icecream!! We even went back one night purely for dessert! The Buffet breakfast was also great, with lots to chose from and I would definitely suggest getting the Chefs to whip you up a banana pancake! The restaurant staff were also great, really friendly and always remembered your name!!

Our room was lovely also with an outdoor shower. The airconditioning worked wonderfully and the decor was traditional but still modern enough to not look old or anything. The only slight problem I had was with the bed. The pillows were huge (which some people may well like as they are luxury style pillows), but housekeeping happily arranged for me to have some thinner pillows, and I could feel the springs through the mattress, which was a bit uncomfortable. Fridge also probably could have been cooler. But we got bottled water everyday and the rooms were really clean and never had bugs or anything in them! I also found the room plenty large enough and had really good storage for all our clothes and stuff.

So all in all, we had a wonderful time at the Mandira and thought the location was great, really central and we were able to walk both to Kuta and to Seminyak. Would definitely go back again.

I booked this hotel from the internet based on the photos and description. The hotel is extremely run down and tired. For the price we paid our first room was appalling and tiny. The next room wasn't much better. We obviously booked out the next morning. There is no personalised service at all.It is a massive old,run down hotel. Please to anyone thinking of staying here DON'T.For the same money there are plenty of quality places.

Dear guest,

While we are well aware it is impossible to please everyone, I apologize for whatever ruined your experience while here at our hotel. I do believe we have great people, product and service. Every marketing campaign we have done reflects truth and every image we post is real and easily recognizable when here and would be happy to assist with that. Once again, I apologize our hotel did not suit you; we have well over half of our guests coming from Australia they love it here, have a great time and a great percentage are long time repeaters. We are also currently updating rooms, expanding them and would love to have you try our hotel again next year if you would like.

Hope you enjoyed the reminder of your vacation.

We have just returned from 1 week in Bali. We stayed 6 nights at Bali Mandira hotel and were very impressed.
The grounds are immaculate, the staff are always very friendly and the setting is fantastic. Just a short walk from the pool on to the beach - body surfed every day.
The breakfasts were great - included with the room. The room was good - we changed rooms after 1 night so we could get a room with an outside balcony, which we would recommend. Room was only let down by the bathroom, which needed some work - mouldy grout in some of the tiling and around the bottom of the door (but just things that happen over time in a wet area). The room was overall very good.
Highly recommend this hotel, we all thought that it was great.

Have just returned from a 16 night stay in a Deluxe room. Firstly, the hotel location was excellent and the staff genuinely friendly. However, we were disappointed with our room as it was quite dated, particularly the outside bathroom which had chipped tiles, missing and stained grout, stained toilet seat, a sink that took forever to drain and a chaotic shower head that ensured you were drenched while adjusting the taps prior to showering. While in the bathroom it was easy to conduct a conversation (or share other noises) with the people in the adjoining outside bathroom. In our case it was our traveling companions, so was not a big issue. Also the noise from the room above showed that little or no consideration was given to privacy insulation. The 'king size' bed was comfortable except for the join down the middle. ( two singles pushed together ). The TV (old CRT) had poor reception and less than half the channels available as some other Bali resorts. The hair-drier was under-powered and according to my wife almost useless. If you want an iron, take your own as the hotel will not provide one. Instead you will need to send your clothing to the laundry a day before you want to wear it. Not expensive, but inconvenient. The room our friends occupied and another that a friend of their son's had, also were dated. Certainly not 4 star rooms! In spite of what many contributors to this forum have said about cleanliness, we found the paving around the main pool was dirty and gritty and didn't look as if it had been properly swept or hosed down for months. The pool on occasions did not seem crystal clear. After being bitten by bugs the first night we got a can of insect spray which we used daily. Unfortunately I lost a room key, the usual plastic type, and was charged A$9.30. I spoke to the manager concerning the charge as I was, and still believe that the key cost about A30 cents and to the best of my knowledge was replaced free of charge by the vast majority of reputable hotels. He insisted that the cost was US$7.50. Even the conversion rate was biased in his favour. Considering that we spent A$2152 on the room and over A$300 on incidentals at The Bali Mandira I think his 'key policy' is anything but 4 star and just plain dumb PR. Our next holiday to Bali will be our 11th and we will stay in either of 2, four & half star hotels that we have previously stayed. Either of these by comparison, would put the Mandira at best a basic 3 Star.

I've just returned from a lovely 10 night stay at the Mandira. The grounds are breathe taking, staff are very helpful and the atmosphere is so pleasant. We would like to give a big thank you to all the staff at Mandira who gave us a holiday that will never be forgotten. I highly recommend this hotel for all ages - couples, families, elderly and party people who like to chill out during the day with a nice view and a few cocktails.

We were married at Bali Mandira in 2005 and returned in 2007 & are returning in 2010. We love this hotel. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. If you are unhappy with anything they will go out of their way to fix it and make sure that you are happy.
We had our wedding ceremony on the grassed area overlooking the beach and our reception at the restaurant overlooking the beach...we could not have asked for better service, presentation or value for money.
When we returned 2 years later the staff remembered us and constantly made us feel at home.
Mind you...we do not stay in the deluxe rooms/cottages...we prefer the tower block at the back and in particular the premiere rooms...you pay a little extra but it is worth it for the new furnishings, new aircon, fantastic view from the balcony and no outside shower...i don't like insects! The grounds of the Hotel are superb...so beautiful, quiet and Balinese. The upper level pool is our favourite...no kids allowed and a cocktail on the upper deck at sunset is fantastic. The room service is prompt and reasonably priced. The rooms were being refurbished last time we were there so check out where your room is on the website and contact the hotel to ensure you are not near any work being done.
It is close to everything without seeming like it...once you enter the grounds the bartering street vendors seem a mile away. We love Bali Mandira and cannot wait to return in a couple of months.
