“Cheap, adequate but very dated”
Reviewed 21 August 2014 via mobile

The hotel is in great need of a facelift. The best feature of the hotel is it's location. Right on Legian Beach in the heart of all the good stuff! The outdoor areas are good, especially the pool areas. The service was also good. But 3 stars is pushing it for the rooms. Open wires behind the side table, our bathroom light flickered on and off. The bed was squeaky and uncomfortable. The internet access in the room was practically non existent although the access at the pool area and lobby was strong. Breakfast was included which was good value. Very cheap rates when booked via Agoda so I guess you get what you pay for. Overall a good hotel if price and location are your main concern.

We have stayed many times at the Melasti in Legian. The location is superb as it fronts the beach for breakfast, and the hotel backs on to the street full of colorful shops with easy access to super cheap taxis. The resort has beautifully manicured gardens and boasts 3 pools, 2 with swim up bars. The property is constantly being upgraded, the smallest lap pool being retiled and beautified at the moment. The Deluxe rooms and Cottage Suites are very spacious, with marble floors. Priced to suit the budget conscious. Very popular with Australians. Very helpful and friendly staff make your stay pleasant.

Room Tip: For families book the Cottage Suites as they can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children comfortably.

Absolutely back up 100% everything that Rhianna D stated in below review. She was in the group I travelled with.

This was my third time in Bali and I honestly could not believe the amount of photoshopping on our motel on arrival. Looked nothing like the pictures.
Being a young group travelling without our boyfriends and parents being able to contact the family to let them know how our holiday was going and sharing pictures etc was fairly important, shame that the wifi almost never worked! Room in my safe was broken, not lockable & not repairable, no offer of another room with a functioning safe. Crazy loud until stupid hours of the night unless you were down the back of the motel (unsure if this was bigger rooms or something?

Caught pool bar staff taking sneaky photos of our group and others around the pool, very uncomfortable. Location was ok, depending on what you are after, close to lots of nice beach restaraunts. But not real close to much else (some markets etc close by) I feel that for what we paid it was an absolute rip off. Could have stayed in better locations in nicer residences for the same if not less money.

Room Tip: Unless you are going to be out partying until 3am probably wouldn't recommend

Positive points:

- Charming hotel, local and authentic
- Very good value
- Bathroom nice and well equipped
- Housekeeping perfect
- BIG swimming pool
- Breakfast on the beach perfect

Negative points:

Very good value for a night in a hotel with breakfast. Will recommend to you if you want somewhere to sleep and relax on the beach and go surfing.

The hotel looks nothing like the photos in advertisement. Very photoshopped!
The hotel is very old and run down. I have stayed in much nicer places in a better location that were cheaper!
The WiFi barley ever worked.
I stayed with 5 other friends. We had 3 rooms. Only 1 safe out of all 3 worked, the others were not reparable. We stayed at the front of the hotel and it was noisy every night till 3am. Felt like I was sleeping in a nightclub.
Breakfast is pretty average.. There are nice restraints close by though.
If you stay here bring your own beach towel because there are not usually any left at the pool.
We felt uncomfortable swimming in the hotel pool after we caught the bar staff taking photos of us on the first day.
Buying food & drinks is confusing as the staff don't speak very good English and they only let the person whose name the room is under use the tab. Very inconvenient. Wouldn't stay here again.

Stayed in a Suite on the 2nd floor near the restaurant near the beach. This would have been a really nice hotel in its prime but it is now old and very tired! The rooms still have a key!! The breakfast is quite minimal and the variety just not there. Some days the staff cooking at the egg station where very good on other days not so.... The room towels were very grey and most days had a stain of some sort on them (even though I as sure they were clean) The bathroom was in urgent need of an upgrade as bath, the shower and even the hand basin were in poor condition and had a lot of discolouring (I would not have used the bath if you paid me!) If you like to chill in your room the TV only had three channels in English and was fitted to the wall on the opposite side of the bed so you could not really see if from the bed anyway! The staff seemed friendly enough but as I usually travel to Bali twice a year - this is definitely not a hotel I will be returning to. We only stayed here in the first place as we were travelling with a large group of people for a special birthday and the majority booked this hotel.

Room Tip: Suites are very large and would suit families
