Reviewed 14 June 2011

This is the first time i have stayed at suriwathi, it is right in garlic lane, near the legion, billys and bali beach, in the heart of legion not far from the art market, the rooms were clean, sheets towels and rooms cleaned daily, great swimming pool, and the best staff, nothing is to much trouble. I was there originally for 28 days, but had to return to Perth 10 days earlier, management refunded my money, for all unused days, the gardens are beautiful, and maintaned. I would reccomend the suriwathi to singles, families, and groups.

Room Tip: You can always ask for a discount.always be polit.

My family and I stayed at Suriwathi for more than one week, and another couple of days following a week out on Lembongan Island. The pool was great, massage and haircutting, deli and restaurants, all close by. Their beds were comfortable, clean, everyday the cleaning staff did a great job, clean towels and sheets. They offer free breakfast; toast, egg, cereal, pancake, coffee, OK--nescafe probably, tea, some fruit.. not fancy, but satisfying. They have a restaurant in the hotel where you can order food, soda, beer, all day, if you like. The staff were very helpful. We hired the travel agent there (Made, many of those with his name, but his office is next to reception, can't miss him!). Made drove us to Ubud, Monkey Temple forest, Elephant Sanctuary, and lunch, for a reasonalbe price, and provided our family with history of his country, wonderful tour guide! He helped make calls when we decided to go to Lembongan Is., to set up the ferry's free taxi service. Aussie tourists were there, and they return to this place, a few Europeans were also staying there. This was our first time to Bali, it was not super fancy hotel, the price was right, and it was quiet although it was in the middle of town. I would highly recommend it. It did not have internet, but across the street there was an internet cafe, very cheap. The beach is nearby, but not too clean. We chose to go to Lembongan Island for a real treat, surfing, snorkeling, diving, only 25 min away. My famliy consists of 2 middle-aged adults, 1 child, and we enjoyed, and would go back to them next time in Bali.

Stayed in Deluxe room 17A @ $37AU/night, largish room & ensuite. It was clean had a larger fridge, AC, TV with Indo channels only. For the price this is a great Hotel, rooms clean, sheets clean, towels a little dated but clean. Staff were friendly, so no complaints at all. My brother stayed in Deluxe room 20 (even larger room), which he said was a little musty smelling, but OK after airing out for a bit. Breakfast basic but can purchase extra, pool clean.

I don't know what people are complaining about in these reviews, I loved the stay I experienced for three weeks in June/July 2009 and a week in May 2010 at the Suriwathi in Kuta. I think some travellers just need to remember that this is a budget hotel so do not expect all the frills of a five star hotel.
We loved the staff, always catered to our needs and the few we made friends with would always love a good chat with us. The breakfast was basic, but seeing as we were never really home until around breakfast time it sufficed for us and there are good quality restaurants just outside the hotel on the street if you needed more to eat.
The rooms we had were spacious and always being cleaned and neatened, the staff were very helpful when there was a day it looked like it was missed,
This hotel is also in a great location with great restaurants, bars and shopping on the one street, including the infamous Billy's Bar and Restaurant who have amazing staff.

Hi just thought Id write to say that this hotel is great value for money. The deluxe rooms are spacious and I found them to be clean. The staff are friendly and the resturants breakfast is only basic but you can always order extra and I found the staff happy to serve us each day.The pool was recently retiled so is good maybe small for some but for what you pay its great to have a pool. The location is what we luv close to shopping and not far from beach. We find all the drivers great including Agus he usually takes our son to Ulus etc and Dane loves his humour. So altogether i would highly recommend this hotel to anyone as when we have stayed here we have always made great friends.

We stayed for one night and found the rooms to be dirty and there was blood on the floor. When we arrived they put the coffee table over it and we didint realise it til the morning. The pillows were brown so we slept with our beach towells over them.We could hardly wait til the morning to go and find another place. The breakfast was very average,The place was very dirty and run down.

I was here in April 2010 with my partner, stayed in superior room at 350,000 rph per night. Rooms are comfy but the closet was a bit old, airconditioning & hot water works, the only thing that bothers me was the mosquitoes,,,but then after a long & tiring full day tour you don't really bother about it until the next morning you'll see mosquito bites all over your legs & hands,,,hahaha,,,anyway, I had a wonderful stay,,lots of shops around the corner,,,i'll recommend this place to my friends.
