“Last minute booking, no regrets”
Reviewed 9 March 2014 via mobile

We did a last minute booking at the Pullman on our last 3 days of our trip. We had stayed in a nice place in Seminyak at the start of our trip however this hotel went above and beyond our expectations. Upon arrival they found out it was our honeymoon and Alfie advised us he would look after us during our stay. Alfie arranged a free upgrade on our room, a fruit basket and a lovely bottle of wine just to make us feel special (we didn't have this treatment at any other hotel during our honeymoon). Everything we asked for we received in a quick fashion and we're extremely well looked after. The room was beautiful and spacious, the beds huge and super comfy, shower had great pressure and was very tidy, the swimming pools were beautiful, one on the ground level surrounded by shady trees and the other an infinity pool overlooking kuta beach (amazing for sunsets and a good view whilst swimming). Our flight departed at 12.30am however they let us stay and use all facilities and locked away our bags until it was time to go, the connectivity lounge was great for the last shower and freshen up before jumping on the plane. All staff were very courteous and welcoming at all times. Thank you so much Alfie and crew, you definitely know how to make people feel amazing and genuinely cared for. We will definitely be back without hesitation.

Nice architecture, huge rooms, wonderful design, an infinity edge pool on the 3-rd floor from which you can see the sea and the scenic sky at sunset, varied buffet breakfast (a minus: not too many local fruits), nice and helpful reception staff. A special appreciation for the girl at the tourist attractions and trips' selling desk in the lobby, who was so cute, with amazing almond eyes. But once you get out of the hotel, the contrasts are huge: the beach on the opposite side of the road just in front is dirty and only good for surfers. Behind the hotel there are small crowded shops and dubious restaurants, which do not look too good, but at the end proved to be a good and cheap choice. The restaurant and the bar in the hotel are 3 -4 times more expensive from the nearby restaurants. It is recommended to go out for dinner, the sea food and fish are delicious, and almost every day there are happy hours" when you can get cheaper buzz.
In what regards overall Bali: there are nice landscapes with the rice terraces like in the movies, and thousands of all-sizes temples (in the courtyards for the family ones, in the villages, on the rocks in the sea, and so on) telling about the rich cultural heritage of this people, there are monkeys and exuberant vegetation. On the other hand, it was packed with tourists (90% Australians) so in some cities you were wondering where are you, it was really, really crowded like stepping on the feet of others. Moreover, in December it's the rainy season and it rained heavily in the first 3 days, and afterwards it was only sun - crazy weather.

Room Tip: The rooms facing inner court might be noisy in the day time because there is a pool out there too, b...

My wife and I stayed here in March, we stayed, here, the Legian beach and The stones to try to get a comparison for future trips.

We cam here in a taxi and the first fail was the security, not even a look at the taxi...just up with the barrier and straight into the hotel. Were not overly sensitive about security issues, but why have it there if you don't use it. This happened to us twice in three days at the Pullman.

The hotel has a great feel about it when you enter the lobby it is spacious and modern. the grounds are manicured and for a big hotel quite small.

We were told we had been upgraded when we checked. In but from the room description it seemed like a standard room. Probably just a marketing ploy to make you feel special.

As a previous OP said the minibar is empty, you have to tell them what you want in it. We complained twice that the minibar was not cold, but nothing was done. i know some will think...get over it...but this is supposedly a five star hotel.

The toilet in the room was so small, i could not close the door when on the loo and i am not big.

The balcony has thick wooden rails on it ,so when you sit down on the chairs you cannot see anything other than the thick wooden rail.

The pool on the roof has a great view.
When we were there it was quiet and there were plenty of sun beds, but i would imagine in the busy periods you would struggle to get a lounger.

The groundfloor pool was nice and it was quite shaded.

A few small tings, no free fruit round the pool, no carpets in the hallways.

Try to get the deal where you get a complimentary spa treatment. the spa is superb and a great experience.

The breakfast is extensive but not replenished often enough.

The place is a reasonable 4 star in a great position on the beach.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view room

This hotel has a great location right on the beach. It's enormous and like a lot of Bali hotels, lacks that extra touch to make it a 5 star experience. Our room was a good size with a good view but for the price $200+ per night - not up to scratch! The daybed/child bed was gritty and dirty when we arrived. Looked like something from a refugee camp - we used it to put suitcase on - but how much nicer to have a comfy modern settee or armchair in the room. Room cleaning is unpredictable and not too efficient. Mini bar fridge not cold and it's empty. No cups and saucers or wine glasses. Coffee and tea supplies not replaced.
Both pools are nice but very warm temp / not refreshing.

Tonight we went to the hotel restaurant for their " Babi Guling Street Festival" - very disappointing. We got some stringy cold pork in pita bread with a lot of lettuce. Asked for freshly carved meat and crackling from the spit and it was served the same but at least the meat was fresher. The appetizers were tasteless, ditto the over cooked nasi goreng and tired salad, and the deserts not appealing to western palate (which is their principal market)

Although the staff are very friendly and lovely they don't really understand . There is also a major lack of information - where are the pools, safety issues, restaurants, tv channels, the hotel offers yoga but no information in room as to where and when! Quite frustrating !

We are regular visitors to Bali and normally stay in Tuban. We booked the Pullman for 7 nights and were not disappointed. We had a few hiccups with the tv and fridge but within 20 minutes everything was rectified. Excellent customer service. The check in process was friendly and efficient. The staff/security people all very friendly. We will be staying again in May and hope to have a ground floor room as we were on the 5th floor (beautiful lookout to Kuta beach on room entry ie not the balcony) but think that a ground floor room would be more suitable with a 5 year old ie the grounds are beautifully maintained - for her to have a run around. As we stayed at the hotel two weeks into the school term there were hardly any children staying at the hotel so when our daughter used the kids club she was the only one. The staff in the kids club managed to keep her entertained for 2 hours to give my husband and I a break for two days of our holiday. They were even kind enough to email us updates as we left the hotel on one of the days so we were relaxed and knew they could contact us if any problems. I would just like to say I would definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to staying there again in May. The infinity pool heavenly. Thank you again. Sorry I didn't get names of all the helpful staff. There were just too many.

Room Tip: Ground floor if travelling with young children so you can sit in your outdoor area and watch them ru...

We have again stayed at the Pullman Bali as we always find the service and hotel excellent. This was our fourth stay and I have already booked again for May this year.

On this occasion, my wife and I invited our two older kids and parents to stay with us. We had booked three rooms and on our arrival, the process of checking in went very smoothly, considering there were three bookings. Erni looked after us and her customer service was excellent. (more on her later).

Our rooms were in the same area of the hotel and they were clean. It was great to see the family enjoy the pool, restaurant and overall relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. Everything went to plan as usual and no hiccups.

My parents had booked a tour with another agency and we were having problems contacting the company whilst in Bali. We spoke with Alfie at reception about the problem and he helped us with calling the company on our behalf to sort out the booking problem. It was not a Pullman booking, but one made in Australia prior to our travel. Alfie’s service was outstanding, and if it was not for him, the tour company that my parents had booked may have been cancelled. Well done Alfie.

Erick and Indra in the restaurant always looked after us and always welcomed us by name. I was so pleased that they had taken time to know all of us and understand what we liked as customers. We were always greeted with a smile any time of the day.

One day we were discussing with Erick about my parents who slipped down some unlit steps during the evening near the road, and he was very concerned. Without our knowledge, he told Management and within a day, there was lighting on all of the steps that we had a problem with. Excellent customer service by Erick.

Once again, we were sad to leave the hotel and spoke with Erick and Erni. Erni organised the connectivity room for us with towels and service. She gave us some water and booked a taxi to take us to the hotel.

It was good to know that we were returning to the Pullman in May and I have already made the booking on the internet. This time is just for my wife and I to relax. We can’t wait to see the team again, in particular, Erick, Indra, Erni and Alfie. Well done to the staff.

I ask that the Management please pass on our sincere thanks to them for the wonderful service they gave my family and I. We look forward to talking with them soon.

Adrian and Jodie.
