“Lovely, relaxing & friendly frangipani haven!”
Reviewed 8 August 2010

The Ramada Camakila is a lovely haven. My husband and I enjoyed the happy smiling service. The facilities are good at this hotel. A lovely pool in the middle of the complex and a fabulous horizon pool at the front of the hotel. The breakfast was good and plentiful. The food at the Toa Beach House (by the horizon pool) was excellent and the Mojito's a joy to behold at happy hour. The location is very good being on the beach and having good resturants close by on the beach front. The rooms were very clean. The Bathroom had a couple of flooding issues, due to bad design and we were assured this "project" was being addressed. The Spa had a happy hour time slot when we were there, I had two very good strong massages, the staff once again were very happy and accomodating. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would definetely consider staying again.

I stayed at the Ramada Resort Camaikia for 8 nights in July along with my extended family. The location was perfect if you want to stay out of the hustle and bustle of Kuta and even Jl Padma and Jl Melasti, it is located with direct access to the beach which makes it easier when walking up towards Jl Double Six or towards kuta without the crowds. The hotel itself has been refurbished, which gives it a fresh new look, the staff were always out and about cleaning and maintaining the hotel surroundings. The check in was simple as we had pre-booked with a travel agent so all we had to do was pay for incidentals like room service and the mini bar at the end of our trip. The room was nice and big with a King Bed and plenty of room, the A/C worked really well so it was always nice to come back to a nicely chilled room after walking in the Bali heat and humidity. We had a little courtyard which opened straight into the pathway leading to the pool, so easy if you just want to run and jump in the pool, but a tad annoying that you couldn't lock the sliding door from the outside, we usually just went around through the front door.

I found the staff to be extremely helpful and friendly all the time, nothing seemed like too much trouble. The concierge are great as they booked our Bali Hai cruise with 2 days notice (for 6 adults) and contacted us with all of the information we needed. They also made table reservations for us to make sure we didn't miss out on our fave restaurants. (Ultimo's in Seminyak and Queen's Tandoor in Seminyak are my fave)

We had plenty of cocktails, with my favourite being the Strawberry Ginger Mojito, which were always good quality, no problems with the ice and they even had a happy hour with cocktails 25% off between 5 - 7pm. Perfect on the rooftop bar overlooking the crashing waves of Legian and the beautiful sunsets.

I would definitely stay here again, and would happily recommend the Ramada to anyone looking to visit Bali. It is a great mid range (I would rate 4 star) hotel with excellent staff and convenient location (100m from the Jayakarta).

First trip to Bali during school holiday. travelled with Hubby and two children aged 3 and 1. Travel agent phoned morning of our arrival into Bali to advise the hotel had been overbooked. We were told to book in to Ramada Bintang which is in Tuban, however we were advised upon arrival at the Bintang that our room was available and the concierge organised to pick us up to check in for our 9 night stay.

location is fantastic, hotel backs onto legian beach and is between Bali Nikosima and Jayakarta. close to restaurants, close to main shopping strip of legian and easy to find good transport.

Staff were fantastic! Made us feel like we were apart of their family! we booked a baby sitter and she was so sweet! We got back to the hotel and both girls were fast asleep and she had cleaned the room for us. Our daughter actually begged us to bring her friend back to australia which was cute.

Rooms are a good size! Super king size bed is enough to make you want to spend the entire holiday in bed. Its comfortable. We also had a cot booked. Only downside is that when travelling with children you'd expect more blankets. we had packed our own, however we didnt think to ask the staff im sure they would have supplied the blankets.

Bathtub can become slippery as does the bathroom floor.

Hotel was very busy, had a lot of children which was good for us. Pool loungers were always taken so be sure to get in quick. Roof top pool is great, its smaller and not alot of people go up there. and is also opposite the beach!

Food was delicious, try the creamy cabonara! was my favourite!

overall we loved the stay loved the staff! loved the location!

Very bad hotel lay out with main pool surrounding by rooms making
it very noisy all day and night long.
No privacy on ground floor rooms.
One good thing the balinesse staff are very helpful and so friendly.

We recently stayed at the Camakila for what was supposed to be 9 nights. When we arrived at the airport we were told they were overbooked and we would have to stay at the Ramada Bintag for the first three nights. As we booked the hotel 9 months prior to travel we were not impressed at all. The Bintang is in Tuban and the Camakila in Legian. The day of transfer they advised us they would collect us at 1pm and by the time we checked into our rooms it was 2.30pm. So quite a waste of a day, with packing and unpacking.
The Camakila is a great hotel. The staff were always helpful and very friendly. The rooms are large and white/clean. The only concern is the bathrooms which have mould under the sinks. This is because of the glass counters and they are unable to clean beneath them, where the water gets trapped. The shower/bath when used creates a lot of water spillage, so be careful you don't slip.

The pools are small and if you travel in school holidays as we did, don't expect to get a lounge by the front pool unless you arrive by 7.30am. The larger pool stays quite cool as it doesn't get much sun

The location is great with plenty of restuarants and shops nearby, and within easy walking distance to Seminyak. We would definetly stay again.

The manager did end up giving us one night free accommodation but it doesnt make up for the 3 nights that we were inconvenienced and the wasted day of the transfer.

.

We stayed at the Ramada Camakila recently after being unable to book into our usual hotel. We chose the Ramada because of it's location and we thought we would give the new kid on the block a try. On the evening of our arrival, I requested the fold away bed I had booked for my daughter be put in her room, but was told that I must have been mistaken, I hadn't booked a bed for her and she would need to sleep on the "sofa" which would be made up for her. One of the staff members on the front desk was quite rude, which is very unlike Bali and probably upset me more than the bed issue. If you look at photos on the website, you will see what they call a sofa next to the beds. It's really just somewhere to sit your bags and not suitable for sleeping on for a 3 week stay! I contacted my travel agent the following morning and we received an apology from the Duty Manager and the bed was placed in the room immediately. We were booked into a suite with an adjoining Deluxe room. I will say that the rooms are very big and nicely furnished. However, our suite was straight above the kitchen, so we were woken up very early every morning by the kitchen noises below. The airconditioner in the main bedroom must have had it's intake in the kitchen as well because the room filled with cooking smells and sometimes cigarette smoke every meal time. I love Nasi Goreng but I don't want to wake up at 5 in the morning to the smell of it cooking!
The Ramada has 2 pools, although I didn't visit the pool closest to the beach because it was always crowded. The main pool is very nice, but because it's set in between the buildings it doesn't get much sun and it can be difficult to get a sunbed as there just aren't enough of them for the size of the resort. Not a problem if your happy to hire a lounge on the beach. Unfortunately, a lot of people don't observe the pool times, so if your room is overlooking the pool you will be woken by early morning and late night swimmers. We are regular travellers to Bali, so we understand that things don't always go to plan and we are happy to go with the flow, however there were a few other small issues that didn't spoil our trip but were just annoyances that you don't feel like dealing with on holidays. The staff in general were friendly but perhaps need a little more training to bring the Ramada up to the standard of other similiar resorts in the area. We will stick to what we know in the future!
