Padma Resort Legian
Ranked #2 of 87 Hotels in Legian
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 13 March 2014

We originally booked 15 nights after reading the glowing reviews on TA. We left after 9 nights and went to the InterContinental in Jimbaran.
The positives:
The staff are amazing, one of the best that we have met on our travels.
The Resort and the gardens are wonderful.
Breakfast in the Club room ....excellent.

Negatives
The beach is disgusting, looked like a tip with rubbish everywhere.
Some of the 'guests' leave a lot to be desired.
Club facilities not up to the standard of a 5★ Resort..some chairs are stained and not enough room for all guests to be inside.
During our 9 night stay...we saw no Manager's in the Resort or Club Lounge.

The Padma Resort is on the beach and very close to all facilities eg mini mart, massages and clothes shops.

We stayed in a Garden Chalet with Club privileges eg separate breakfast at the Club lounge, canapés from 5.-7pm.
As stated before, some of the guest's left a lot to be desired, sorry to say as I am from Australia but the major of the guests are very feral local bogans that sit at the 'swim up' bar all day.....with the toddlers next to them.
On one instance we order a salad for lunch, by the pool, where the lady in front of us decided to change her toddler's nappy right in front of us, a fully soiled nappy, and left it open for everyone else to see.....that was the end of our lunch.
Most 5★ Resort that change you Club rates have separate pool where no children under 12 are not permitted. We have stayed in many Club rooms, InterContinental, Westin, Sheraton and The Grand Hyatt.....and they all have separate area's for breakfast and the swimming pool. ...that's why you pay a lot more for the privileges.
The reason that we left early, and we had to forfeit one nights stay, was that at check in we were informed that due to renovations we would receive $50USD credits per day..and our total was $750USD for our 15 nights stay.We decided to check are room bill after 9 nights as we only ate at The Resort....we were then informed that it was only $50USD PER WEEK!!!!
After talking to a few Manager's to try and rectify the situation, two hours later, the best that they could do was to give us a room upgrade. ....and then charge as the extra night as we are leaving earlier....great customer service!!!! Very disappointed.

This resort is mainly aimed at loud families with lots of baby's around, if this suits you then you will love the Padma, for us.....never again.....

As I sit here on our last full day my only consolidation is that we will be back here again some time in the next 12 months. Having spent seven days here I can assure you the renovations in no way impact on your stay even in the lagoon access rooms.
We love the Padma, there is no denying it and would not stay anywhere else however I would like to share the reasons why.
1. From the time we were welcomed at the airport with a cool drink and cold face cloth we knew we were home. The new road from the airport shortens the trip and is just long enough to catch up with the driver on the weather forecast and what has been happening at the resort.
2. Checkin is always a breeze and our room was ready on arrival and we were in the pool within 20 minutes.
3. Lagoon access rooms are amazing and well worth the extra. Especially after you have been shopping or to wake up first thing before breakfast. The rooms are always clean and extremely well maintained by housekeeping.
4. The staff are amazing. Always friendly and willing to help in any way they can. Some have been at the resort for 20 years plus and still they love their job. I can't single out any one team member as they are all wonderful and made us feel so welcomed.
5. The grounds - beautiful gardens with the most exquisite garden art. You can keep those new modern high rise hotels because the atmosphere of the padma with the relaxing gardens is amazing.
6. The pools - yes there are two. Whilst we didn't make it to the main pool, the lagoon access pool was the perfect temperature and of course the pool bar always makes it special. You can have lunch and snacks from the Barong Restaurant courtesy of raising your yellow flag as you sit by the pool and the food is awesome - sheer indulgence.
7. The location to Garlic Lane, Melastie St, a $1.50 cab fare to seminyak or $3 to Kuta is perfect.
8. Garden Club Benefits - well worth the cost and makes for a most enjoyable afternoon cocktail experience in air conditioned comfort.
9. The food regardless of where you eat is fresh, flavor some and with such a wide variety of traditional and western varieties you would be hard pressed not to be impressed.
10. This is not a multi national resort. I understand it is owned by a single family now and they have truly got the formula right in the way they run this resort. Thank you for keeping the warmth and genuine hospitality of the Bali Paradise alive.

As we only have one full day left I am going to go enjoy the pool with my husband, knowing we will be back ASAP to our island home. That will make it our fourth trip to the Padma.

*note: new airport is well air conditioned and we were through in 30 minutes with no VIP service. We had a 4:30pm arrival. Can't complain about that either.

I really can't fault this place in any way. Lovely rooms, good service, great location.
Our spacious room had it's own wifi hotspot, which was great. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent and the breakfast buffet was definitely the most varied that I have ever seen in my life. There are two large swimming pools and bars at both. Lot's of staff around to cater to your every need. I wish I had stayed here two weeks in stead of one.

We have recently stayed at the Padma for the second time & it did not disappoint. From check we were offered an upgrade into a Lagoon Access Room. The young man that showed us the 3 different rooms was extremely helpful & nothing was too much for him. The rooms were cleaned to a high standard & the garden club was good value for money, the evening cocktails & food was amazing.
The staff throughout the hotel from reception, garden club, cleaners, gardeners & special mention to Lina (in garden club & teppenyaki) & Suriani (in donbui) you are so courteous, friendly, extremely polite & very helpful & professional. You are amazing & a credit to the Padma.
We will definitely be back & would recommend this hotel.
The lagoon access rooms are highly recommended.

We were a bit nervous travelling to Bali for the first time so booked the Padma Resort Bali at Legian on recommendation from friends. It did not disappoint! We left the Padma only twice the whole time we were in Bali! The staff were friendly and accommodating, the food was divine, the cocktails yummy, and the pool bar staff so friendly! We stayed in a Lagoon View Room and really enjoyed sitting on our balcony drinking and eating and people watching. We used the gym which was small but pretty much empty so that suited us! We visited in early December so it was very hot but our room was beautifully air conditioned and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed the Teppanyaki at the Japanese Restaurant. Overall we had a really great experience in Bali because of the Padma. Sitting on a sunlounge overlooking the beach was peaceful, quiet and very relaxing. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time we were there. Breakfast was also amazing and had a huge variety of options to choose from. Thank you!

Stayed at the Padma Resort recently. Great experience & friendly efficient staff. The landscaping is beautiful & meticulously cared for. Pool was very clean & we really enjoyed the lagoon pool with additional shade. The Breakfast Buffet is outstanding, with something there to please everyone.
I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Lagoon access pools are smaller, but great for a couple. We enjoyed having a room close to the lagoo...

We had a lovely time on our second visit to this resort. Being right on the beach is a bonus. The staff are very well trained, their English is excellent. They are helpful and seem sincere in their offers of assistance. The resort is a beautiful spot with the gardens and water features, statues and other Balinese structures all around.

The gym is excellent, and the "departure lounge" concept is brilliant, allowing us to store our luggage securely after we checked out and then have a shower before we headed off to a late afternoon flight. Brilliant

Room Tip: We loved our room which was on the ground floor about 15 steps from the pool. The rooms in the chale...
