“A Nice Place in Bali to Stay!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 October 2012

The Jayakarta Bali Beach Resort's merits include: (a) it is located around a 30 minutes drive from the airport, and around a 10 minutes drive from the Seminyak area, which has many interesting eateries and shops; (b) it is located right in front of the quieter section of the beach in the Legian area; (c) there are many eateries and shops all around, as well as within walking distance; (d) despite being almost 30 years old, the hotel is well maintained and clean, and the gardens here are amongst the most beautiful I have seen anywhere in a hotel; (e) the room was spacious and the bedding was excellent; and (f) the staff were efficient.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the gardens. Note that there are no rooms with a direct view of the se...

We recently stayed at the Jayakarta Beach Resort at Legian Bali. This hotel was referred to us as being friendly, comfortable and close to the beach. This was correct as we had a nice time. The beach is right outside and to my surprise clean. On my last visit to Bali we went to Saminyak and the beach smelt and what appeared like raw sewerage was flowing from the creeks. But Legian beach was so much better. Spent every day of our 8 day holiday on the beach (in between shopping & eating). For AU$3.00 we had 2 beach lounges and an umbrella. The location of the hotel was good for walking to restaurants and shops. Plenty of transport available when we wanted to sightsee. The transport company located within the hotel grounds was just as cheap when negotiated direct with the driver as with most other places. Wayan & Mambo were really good drivers and loved a chat. The hotel is in need of maintenance, but that was being completed to areas of the resort while we were there. Our travel agent Natalie from Flight Centre warned us before booking. There was also a constructions site next door, but that none of these works caused any inconvenience. Our room #208 was close to the beach, pool, hotel restaurant & Sunset Bar. Brilliant positioning amongst the very well kept grounds. The room was a suite with a bathroom. It was cleaned every day and the bed very comfortable. Linen is not replaced unless requested (which we found was a great initiative). Bath towels were replaced every day. The only concern I had with the hotel was the pool bar where the staff allowed patrons to drink bottled and glass beverages in the pool. However the staff in general were helpfull. The nearby restaurants along the beach front (turn right out of the hotel on the beach) were all good value, great food and cheap drinks (average meal with food & drinks under AU$30 for 2). Unfortunately we found the cheapest Bintang at AU$1.50 on our last night. Discovery Mall was a nice 40 minute walk along the beach. Great chance to walk off the food and Bintangs. Other shops in Seminyak & Legian were much closer and within easy walking distance. Overall the Jayakarta is worth the money considering the location to the many shops, restuarants and especially Legian beach. Would definitely stay there again and have recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Ask for the beach side rooms #207 to #214. Right next to the beach and close to all hotel amenities...

My family which consisted of 2 mid aged children, my husband and I were suppose to stay here. We checked out within 10 hrs as it was so awful. The apartments are smelly, noisy and dirty. Prior to checking in we had stayed in 3 other hotels in and around Bali, these were fantastic and beautiful, which just highlighted the horrid Jayakarta. I last holidayed in Bali 20 Years ago. I was pleased that this was not our 1st return port -of call, otherwise I would have returned home. There are so many nicer cleaner, cheaper places to stay. Also Sth Kuta you will find cleaner beaches, sand and a lot less hassle. Don't waste your time and money staying here

Once again ( we stayed here last March too) we had a great time. We stayed in The Residence which is adjoined to the main hotel. Although we didn't stay in the main hotel buildings we had access to all amenities at the hotel, pools, restaurants, massages etc. I understand the main hotel rooms are not quite as nice as the adjoining buildings rooms ..... I think most of the adjoining apartments are privately owned so the quality comes down to the efforts of the owners. Highly recommended !
Once again, we dined a fair bit at Wali Warung on Jl Padma Utara no.16 ( just down the street and around the corner) the people there are just so nice ! Food is always good and at prices that make you want more and more.Overall, the Jayakarta complex is one of the best places to stay in Legian, we have been there many times and always recommend it. Unfortunately, Bali is becoming somewhat 'gridlocked', the amount of traffic is unbelievable so allow extra time to travel to almost anywhere. A lot of major roadworks are underway so hopefully, when done, travelling around will be easier. Bali is and always will be a fantastic place to visit so give it a go!

Room was good, no wifi until breakfast but that's OK. Pool full of kids and sunscreen. It is what it is... Cheapish, all the usuals (a/c, breakfast, sky tv, balcony... That's about it). Perfect if that's what you are keen on. Legian Beach is also what it is...busy, touristy, hassle city etc. don't expect a cruisy, calm experience. Nothing wrong with the room or service though.

My mum and I stayed at the Jayakarta Bali Hotel for 8 nights last week. We found the hotel grounds to be absolutely stunning. The care that is taken, and the effort that is put into the beautiful gardens was amazing. The room was certainly dated but would have been fairly flash in it's day. It was fine for what we needed. The bed was comfortable, the linen clean and changed regularly, the shower pressure was great. There were signs of age on the tiles in the bathroom and the balcony furniture was cheap though comfortable. The room was adequately spacious and would have benefited from an in-room safe although we used the deposit boxes at reception and had no issue with that (no charge).

The service was impeccable. Check in/out was a breeze and the welcome drink much appreciated. I had to call for fly-spray due to a cheeky mosquito in the room and I think it took them 3 minutes to get there at 11pm at night! The room was cleaned and serviced daily with linen changed every second day. They must have had a shortage of hand towels as we had to ask for them on two occasions but once again, they were at our door in no time with what we had requested.

The breakfast is good. There is a lot of choice and, although busy at times, we found the egg station to provide fresh food in a timely fashion. The hotel is very large and I feel, given the volume of people, that they do a fairly good job. We did not dine at the restaurant for any other meals.

The location is excellent. Although in Legian, the hotel is located slightly away from the main street and directly on the beach. This made it quieter than some of the hotels in Seminyak and certainly quieter than Kuta but we found we could get to either of these destinations very easily in a meter taxi (> $1.50). The sunbeds by the pool were always very busy but we could always get one in the hotel grounds overlooking the beach or just walk across the street and pay $2.50 per day for one on the beach.

My main complaint for this hotel is the price of beer. It makes me sound a bit ridiculous because I am complaining that a Bintang is $4.70 but I just can't understand the justification for this when we pain no more than $2.50 ANYWHERE else in Bali (including on the beach out the front of the hotel). It's just not upmarket enough to justify this cost and just meant that we didn't enjoy a Bintang by the pool.

Overall, I would recommend Jayakarta as long as you know to expect older, slightly worn though comfortable rooms and expensive beer! :)

Room Tip: We were in room 434 which was quiet and slightly (though not too far) away from the pool and in a 2...

I visited the jayakata with my family in August 2012. The hotel has lovely grounds, pool area, gardens etc. the rooms are very run down in all aspects. Very basic and tatty.
The bar is extortionately expensive. More expensive than more upmarket hotels. Drinks by the pool. ?? Bring your own as more expensive than drinking in a nice hotel in Australia. I was shocked!!
Location of resort is fantastic as right on the beach.
Breakfast average. Staff very nice.
Would I go back. Not sure as rooms upset me a bit. So basic !! Bed very comfortable though.
