This hotel is highly overpriced because it is tired, old, has no charm or character, food is expensive for the quality and quantity the hotel gives. Door handles come off in the rooms, there is no room safe which you would need because the doors use standard metal keys (which could easily be copied, so I NEVER felt safe), balconies look like they may fall down (scary with children around), air con noisy, pool has too many chemicals in it (my son's shirt was dark blue but faded to a pink colour within days; our eyes hurt; we had headaches). Originally I thought the hotel staff were nice and accommodating, until I had a complaint about renovations above my room which ensured my baby and I could not sleep during the day! I wanted to be moved to another room, they did not move me, last day they offered to move me (after 4 days of constant noise) but it was not worthwhile doing so at such a late stage. I wanted compensation for the 4 days disruption as they should have informed me of the renovations, or moved me sooner, but they only offered free late check out!! Not good enough, would have rathered a quiet room, I needed a peaceful holiday! Location was ok, but there are better hotels with a better location, look around!

Location is great, several pools with plenty of space, nice tropical gardens, the kids playground is a little lacking though.

We have stayed several times at the private residences out the back so can't comment about the actual hotel, but it has a great location & plenty of good restaurants & bars within walking distance. The beach is the place for sunset beers and it is just across the road.

Would definitely go back.

We have stayed in a private apartment twice. Will stay again soon in September. We have been very happy. Where they are situated in comparison to the hotel room that we stayed in is inferior to me but I like to have easier access to the beach and pool. Apart from that we were happy. Close to restaurants and shopping and a cheaper alternative to paying for multiple rooms. It is what I would 3 star so be aware of that.

Jayakarta is by no means a 5 star resort, however it's a comfortable, friendly stay in an older style hotel with large grounds and beautiful gardens. Have stayed here a few times and prefer the ground floor garden rooms as door opens to small balcony for drying swim gear etc and easier if carrying surfboard. Breakfast is the usual buffet style, eggs made on order so hot and fresh. Pools are clean looking and couple shallow areas for the kids. Pool side menu has everything from hot chips to nasi goreng. Can move to beach side and watch the sun set and all the activity on the beach without leaving the hotel. Staff are friendly and keen to please. Plenty of dining options within walking distance, market shopping all around and several circle k stores close by. BEWARE walking home from a local restaurant on Jalan Double Six a pretend ladyboy on a scooter stopped in front of one of the men in our group who was walking ahead and started offering giggly gig and putting hands on his body - these are pickpockets, do not engage in banter or let them near you. This is the 2nd time I have witnessed this on separate visits - they got the wallet first time and left a new arrival with no cards etc. Shame to see this happen in Bali

Room Tip: I was in ground floor garden deluxe block 4 which was v easy and had good air conditioning, however...

Our travel agent booked this hotel for us when we said how much we wanted to spend. It was a last minute holiday we were new to bali and she said it was central to everything.

We stayed 3 nights (only because there were tours we booked from legian) and then upgraded ourselves to a villa in seminyak to relax away from the other aussie tourists.

The door in our room was warped and a lizard got in among other bugs etc. Thankfully the air con worked but wifi only worked outside the room.

If you are after a relaxing holiday as a couple that arent into getting drunk by a community pool full off urine then best pay the extra like we should have originally.

Positive - location is great
Negative - breakfast was a let down, we went one morning at 630am and everything was going out fresh yet was still cold and fruit flies all over the bakery foods.

I recently stayed at the Jayakarta in their deluxe room for 9 nights and would defiantly go back.
Although the rooms are not 5 star lux, there isn't much you could pick with it for the price you paid.
It is in an amazing location, you can see the beach from their amazing pool, only a minute walk from other extremely nice restaurants if you want variety.
All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Note:
There are no safes in the room, they are supplied though in a separate room.
The wifi is seriously temperamental so if reliable wifi is something you need I would look elsewhere.

There was a good variety of age groups there, not too family dominated or dominated by younger party go-ers.

They also have contracted taxi drivers there that stay out the front and are always happy to take you anywhere.

Also they have a tour desk and a general store with a very helpful shop assistant.

Would defiantly stay again!
