When we land in Bali this is where we start off our holiday. Great staff , pool restaurant and breakfasts. Shopping just a step away and the beach to watch sunsets and have a Bintang on Legian Beach. You can pay alot more at other places for alot less. 206 and 207 good rooms for view and sleeping.

Room Tip: 206 or 207

Stayed at the Rama on my last 3 visits and probably about 10 times overall. Would have to be 10 out of 10 for location. Found the staff all very keen and friendly. From the 2 Made's and Yeoman out back to Jeffrey the security guard/driver out front and all the bar staff are excellent. Anis the manager was always there for any problems we had and she dealt with them promptly. Bad points. 1 Breakfast is very very average (Restaurant was brilliant for everything else ) 2 A bit expensive for accommodation 3 far to many trainees who could not speak English. Overall looking at booking again for August if I can get right price. Cheers Dave.

My husband and I stayed here in March 2014.

The hotel is in a fabulous location with Garlic Lane and Legian Beach very close by. It is close to many restaurants. Even though the location is perfect, the hotel is very quiet.

We had requested (and received) a room upstairs. We didn't have a problem with the stairs, but they are quite steep, so if you have knee problems, maybe a room on the ground floor would better suit you.

The room was nice and the bathroom was huge, although there were a few mosquitos in our room when we checked in. There was a window in the bathroom that didn't close properly, but I stuffed a few bits of toilet paper in the holes and we didn't have any other issues with mosquito's from then on.

Our room was on the Garlic Lane side, but was very quiet and we didn't hear much noise from the lane.

Our bed was lovely and big and one of the most comfortable beds I have slept in in Bali. The air conditioning was also in good working order. As previous reviewers have stated, the linen does need to be updated.

There are not many lounges around the pool (seems to be pretty much the norm), but in saying that every time we wanted a lounge chair, we got one each, so that was good!

Breakfast was not so great - we ended up only eating it the once, then went out elsewhere after that.

The wi-fi worked in our room which we liked, although the password is always being changed, so it's a bit of a pain to get the new passwords all the time.

The staff were not rude, but certainly not the friendliest I have encountered in Bali.

I would definately recommed this hotel to family and friends and would also stay there again.

Stayed for 9 days returning to Australia yesterday. The hotel was good enough but a little disappointing in some areas. There was 9 in our party with 5 rooms.
Pros
* location is great.
* quiet! no street noise.
* most rooms acceptable.
* reasonably clean.

Cons
* hotels staff were friendly and somewhat helpful but only when requested. They were all polite but definitely not the best service by a long shot.
* rooms varied a bit. Some were good however our room, 105, was located in the back of the hotel, no sun and right next to the service entry. Additionally this room seemed to be neglected. Leaking AC(almost standard for bali) but worked well, towels on the floor from the day we arrived till the day we left due to bath and water leaks. Toilet worked only sometimes. Shower involved the use of numerous towels to dry the floor after due to a number of leaks.
* even though we were located next to the service corridor rubbish would remain on our table for a couple of days.

After numerous visits to Bali and in particularly this area, I would rate this hotel average. But only if you can get the rooms at a reasonable price not the $100+ per night they regularly try and get.

We needed a stay in the area and this place was recommended by a friend so we thought we would give it a go.

We have probably passed this hotel a hundred times and never reflected over its existence. The entrance looks like a bar but the small walkway to the back reveals a lovely pool and garden. The layout reminds me of the old tv show Melrose Place.

We arrived early in the morning and the hotel were lovely enough to give us an early check in. The room wasn't ready when we arrived but they made it available within 30 minutes and I have to say I am impressed with that.

We got a room on the second floor, all rooms has its own entrance with private stairs and a small seating area outside. If you have problems with stairs, ask for a room downstairs as they are quite high and narrow. The room itself looks very nice and the bed is one of the most comfortable I have had in Bali. The bad thing is that it smelled but at that stage I was way too tired to care and ignored it. In the end we ended up getting incense to take away the smell.

The black out curtains were good on the door and window side but there was nothing to keep out the light from the windows in the bathroom and into the room from the bath and the one blind they had over one window was not very effective. We ended up getting a couple of cheap sarongs to cover the windows so that we didn't wake up by the sunrise.

As others have mentioned, the rooms look lovely but they are in dire need of a linen upgrade. They were washed and cleaned but old, tired, grey, spots and marks and even holes and tares in the towels.

Cleaning was very prompt, they saw as you left and asked if they could clean immediately and they did. Restocking was a different issue though. Never during our stay did they refill the amenities and the towels, well... one day we had two bath towels and two wash cloths, one day no cloths or hand towels... but they arranged them beautifully on the bed in the shape of different animals and that was so fun to come home every day to see what they had done next.

Breakfast was just awful. You got to order of a menu and it was made to order but the toast was cold, butter melted and I didn't even start on the Kopi Bali (coffee) and that was the only choice. Orange juice was nice and the omelette was ok but we ended up going for breakfast down the road instead.

Staff were all friendly and nice. They kept an eye on the area, who came and went and it felt very safe. We even forgot to lock up our safe a couple of days during cleaning but no problems, it was all there when we got back.

One complaint I do have is the fact that the staff often sat under a set of stairs in the pool section and smoked and if you were on a lounge, in the pool or an outdoor seating around the place you could smell that cigarette smoke everywhere.

They have free WiFi but you have to get new passwords all the time and it only works in the pool and restaurant area.

But all and all I have to say it is a really good budget choice in the area and I would definitely stay again.
