“Beautiful garden and pool”
Reviewed 19 February 2013

Stayed here many times, the rooms are outdated, tv is not working, but what makes Panorama nice are the nice gardens and the great swimmingpool. It is totally silent there, out of the busy hazzle from the overbusy Kuta/Legian area and the prices are also ok, in comparisation.
Don't expect luxury, but when you are easy happy, it's a good place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 7, it is next to the entrance, but is is a lovely room. Or one of the upstairs rooms with 2 lev...

When we arrived at night the stuff brought us to our “all rooms come with pool or garden view and terrace or balcony” standard room. It was an old fashioned dirty room in the 2nd floor without balcony. To avoid depressions we moved for 1 night to the luxury room for 680.000 IDR. But even in that room we found only 2 towels and no safety box.
The “breakfast is included” comes after a hard try to order, from young inexperienced girls, with 2 slices of (maybe) toasted toast. The omelet might be made out of a baby egg aside from a very small slide of butter and some jam. Try out to give your day a good start and order “Bali coffee” – maybe with milk. There is no milk; maybe they offer you some “creamer”.
From the 2nd night on we get our “standard room with terrace”. The room was tiled with green tiles and a wooden roof and small windows - all in all very dark. The highlight was the energy saving bulb hanging on a cable. Inside the bathroom we found a bathtub where you could shower if you sit. The ugliest thing was the toilet bowl, the toilet lid was formerly white, very formerly and the flush was a lever at the wall.
The cottages area is really like a garden, so it was only clear that the gardeners had to use very noisy machines during the day to make your time in the compound really good. The pool is nice, the chairs are old and the mattresses are ugly and broken and don’t fit on this chairs with fixed back of the chair. Of course like elsewhere on Bali they have plenty of stuff but there is no service at the pool.
After sunset mind the mosquitoes. I spent many times in Bali and I never ever found a place with so many mosquito’s like the panorama cottages. For some reasons, maybe it’s not enough water if the compound is near a river; they have a pond which invites millions of mosquitoes to suck your blood every night. All rooms have air conditions, so inside the mosquito’s should be no problem, but the rooms are open around the old windows, open at the roof, open at the not closing door, that it makes no difference if you are in- or outside. The fixed mosquito net in our standard room was too small and too short to cover more than 1/3rd of the bed.
In summary: the so called standard rooms are the worst I ever had during many times in the Kuta / Legian area. The panorama cottages 1 are, to say it friendly, on a low budget backpacker level in africa ;)

Still perfectly located, central to major Legian areas, Panorama 1 cottages offer a range of accommodation, nestled around two private pool areas. Many expats live in the complex and business people, some retirees. Owned by the same Balinese family as Three Brothers, the grounds and buildings are very similar in style. Probably a 15 minute walk to the beach, so therefore, prices are reflected accordingly, pretty good value if the beach front is not a priority.
