“a well kept secret?”
Reviewed 25 January 2011

we arrived around midnight and were greeted by waiting staff with lovely fruit juice cocktails. Were conducted to our rooms(spacious, clean, pleasant)The Youngest of the family (6) couldn't resist a dip in the pool in the moon light. All slept well in comfortable beds.Breakfast buffet was adequate and nourishing.Personnel was very accommodating and service was prompt..Villa is situated in a quiet street alongside a river .Guests were a mixture of people from around the world and we were soon chatting around drinks and children playing in pool .
A five minute walk up the street took you to a lovely lady masseuse(excellent)salon. Her husband happened to be a taxi driver and we used their services. They made our stay very interesting by showing us the Balinese way of life in the country side.
Our party included elderly people and children and rails would have been appreciated around slippery steps around pool.
Villa is very good value for money.

After arriving in Bali with my Husband and 2 of our Kids, we stayed for 7 days in Kuta then decided to send the Kids home and Myself and hubby stayed on an extra week, We went out to Villa Diana on our arrival felt very welcomed just to find we where placed in a private villa, with basically your own swimming pool, it was bliss for us after our first weeks stay in a not so very nice hotel, everything was just a phone call away and the service was wonderful nothing was ever a problem for the staff, even the cat was very friendly (hope she had those kittens all ok)... I would be staying here again on our next visit to bali in December 2011...Highly recommend this place to everyone...

I read hundreds of reviews on TripAdvisor before choosing this hotel. First trip going solo, I wanted comfort, security and value for money, and Villa Diana didn't disappoint. The staff are so lovely and helpful, one of the girls at reception even paid my cab fare from her own wallet when I didn't have change!
Everything was just like the photos, my room was comfortable, I had virtually my own pool, hot water for my morning tea was a phone call away, the room was fully serviced daily, the outdoor shower was fantastic, the wireless connection worked, the private outdoor lounging area was very relaxing.
Being further away from the centre meant peace and quiet without the scooters going all night, and during my day walks I met many locals who were friendly and helpful - one even gave me a lift into Legian as he was taking his girls to school.
There are excellent local places to eat or have a great massage, or a cab gets you to central Legian in about two minutes.
I looked at rooms in three other popular hotels while I was there, and would prefer to stay at Villa Diana again. Five steps from your room to the pool, which is never crowded, cocktails brought to the lounger, that's a holiday!
Yes it's looking a little tired if you get your magnifying glass out, and yes you do have to walk to the beach, but as previously mentioned in other reviews here, you should check a map before booking. A little peeling paint and thin towels are the worst you can say about it, and paint does peel faster in humid climates.
The sooki la la's from Wantirna have obviously forgotten that Bali is still a third world country. It is unfortunate that the river is polluted, but it didn't smell or look as bad as I feared, especially after a good rain. This is a hotel away from tourist central if that's what you're looking for.

We were picked up by the complimentary airport pick-up service without a hitch. The hotel/villa (depending on which you got) is abt 15 minutes drive away. We were informed that we'd been upgraded to a pool villa upon arrival - it wasn't exactly a private pool villa but more of 3 different rooms sharing 1 pool, but i'm not complaining!

it is true that a river (not a drain!) is immediately outside of the hotel compound, but none of the rooms face this directly, and unless you spend all your time sitting with the security guards under a tree beside the river, this shouldn't be a problem at all!

The bedroom wasn't huge for a villa, but it was enough. it had a poster bed and a tv with your usual channels (HBO, Star Movies, ESPN, Discovery etc.) but what I liked was that the canopy over the poster bed prevented the air-conditioning from blowing down directly onto you while you slept. The mattress might not feel like much but I had no problem sleeping at all! There's a ceiling fan if you don't feel like air-conditioning.

The toilet was nice and spacious and the outdoor shower was one of the best I've ever experienced! Shower pressure was strong (perhaps a bit too strong haha) and there was always hot water. We never went into the main pool but the private pool was sooo full of chlorine so we didn't use it much - plus who needs a pool when there're so many beaches ard!

Breakfast was a disappointment - the spread wasn't good, the food wasn't good and on top of that, it was cold and hard. There're so many other good eating options in Bali so I don't suggest wasting a meal in the hotel.

it's a 15-20 minute walk away to Double Six beach and maybe just 10 more minutes from there to Seminyak. There's nothing much in the area but taxis are cheap and allow you to get to Kuta/Seminyak relatively inexpensively.

If you're after a 5 star sanitised Bali experience then Villa Diana is not for you. However if you're looking for a peaceful retreat in the madness which is now most of Bali, then Villa Diana is a gem. Yes it's a decent hike from the beach, and yes at the front of the hotel is small river, and yes the linen in the bedrooms is a little tired & the breakfasts are limited, but the setting is gorgeous, the staff are friendly & helpful & I would return again in a flash. I stayed for 2 weeks in one of the small villa rooms - away from the main pool area and it was very private and very quiet. The room was spotlessly cleaned every day. I was a solo female traveller and I felt completely safe walking back to the hotel at night - yes it's a dark street but the locals are very friendly - felt much safer than leaving the clubs in Kuta & Legian in the early hours of the morning with none of the hassles! There is a good warung about a 5 minute walk from Villa Diana on your right as soon as you turn onto Jalan Nakula if you're looking for a quick cheap lunch and can't be bothered walking down to Jalan Legian or the beach. They don't speak much English but the menu is in English and the food is fresh. Once you're on Jln Legian, the large Bintang Supermarket is about 10 minutes walk away where you can stock up on anything that you may need. Lots of great restaurants along Jln Legian - the Japanese restaraunt just down from Bintang was superb - Cafe Seminyak also highly recommended - the best gado gado I've ever had! For a fantastic massage or facial, I recommend BodyWorks at Seminyak.

We booked it as part of our honeymoon and was a terrible place to stay. It backed onto a river with stagnant sewage and not close to any town centres. When walked outside the room it backed onto 2 run down buildings with squatters and barbwire around it, human waste could be smelt. It also lacked basic facilities such as a kettle etc. Furthermore there was a wasps nest sitting on a chair on our balcony and a birds nest in the roofing squawking the whole time. When confronted reception about the above issues they were not helpful at all. We gave our travel agent a call and got out of there as soon as possible, Photos were extremely misleading!
Should not be 4 star!
I could go on but wont
