“Beautiful view, excellent staff and all round lovely guest house”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

We initially booked to saty at the Lemon House for only 3 days as we are never sure about commiting ourselves to one place for too long. We ended up staying a week and would have stayed longer but they were fuly booked. I cannot rave about this place enough. The manager Ketut is fantastic, he is friendly helpful and funny. The breakfast in the morning is delicious with a choice of pancake, toast and eggs or toast with honey or jam. We stayed in all the rooms whilst we were there. The air cooled rooms are a little warm but nothing unbearable. The aircon room is amazing! It is a bit of a walk up the stairs but it is totally worth it as the view is amazing. The entire hostel and the rooms are all spotless. I cannot recommend this place enough. We met some lovely people there and there is a friendly vibe to the place. I woul definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: The aircon rooms are noisier with the chickens but much more pleasant. The double room is very nice...

Stayed here for 6 nights in June, and I loved it! Room was fantastic; spacious and clean (I stayed in one of the big private rooms).

Breakfast each morning was delicious, and there was a great friendly vibe there. Often the other guests and I would spend nights hanging out in the common area or balcony chatting. Great view, 10 mins from dive shops and 15 mins from white sand beach (with big waves to jump around in).

Very close to ferry port for those going on to the Gili's but well worth hanging out in Padangbai for a while.

Friendly and helpful staff; can't recommend this place enough!

Lovely place, clean and great people!

Highly recommended. Breakfast included, rooms with A/C and private bathroom are available as well as dorm rooms. Not suitable for people with mobility issues, about 60 steps to get up there.
The view from the balcony over Padangbai is stunning over sunrise.

The staff are fantastic and made my stay very enjoyable.

Location on Google maps is incorrect, it's close to the temple near the ferry port.
Padangbai is a great town to spend some time. Still has quite a local feel to it and it's a shame that most people only stay for a night before catching a ferry. Their loss!

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have a view of the sunrise over the bay.

We stayed here for a week in April and enjoyed it. The staff were lovely. The breakfast was good, especially the pancakes. It was a good base from which to see Padang Bai and well worth the money and the trek up the steps.

The only thing of note was the daily temple call, which happens several times daily, including in the middle of the night. It won't disturb the dorms, unless you're a very light sleeper, but a couple in the double room had to leave on account of it being too noisy. It's not the hostel's fault and you'll hear it anywhere in Padang Bai, just saying.

Room Tip: I'd go with the dorms to avoid the temple call.

The Lemon House is situated on the side of the hill to the right of the large boat dock. It's really nice to pass through the narrow local streets to find the house. The walk up the steps isn't that far at all.
My hubbie and I stayed here for 2 nights. The room had a double bed, fan and shared bathroom. We paid IDR 200,000 per night including breakfast. The house has great free wifi and a nice lounging area and balcony to see the stunning view over the bay. The area is quiet so we got a good nice sleep. The house also has dorm rooms and bedrooms with brivate bathrooms all at different prices.
Sadly the two days we were in Padang Bai it rained constantly (middle of May) but we were able to walk 15 mins to the Blue Lagoon beach which is truly beautiful once the clouds parted.
I would definitely recommend staying at the Lemon House during your stay in Padang Bai.

We stayed at Lemon House from 24-26 April 2013. Chose this place because of the view and we were not disappointed! IT's a bit of a hike to get up there with luggage but it's nice to walk through local back streets and see tiny temples, shrines and homes. Do visit the local market only 5 minutes walk from Lemon House. Make sure you get the AC room with window view, the back rooms are very hot & stuffy. Breakfast is great too! Padang Bai itself is a fantastic chilled out town, nice and small, not very touristy. Just beware of noise - the large ferries coming in from the islands can be heard all over town and there is a temple very close to Lemon House that plays traditional music very early in the morning.

Room Tip: Make sure you take the A/C room for Rp300k

The best hostel we stayed at in all of Bali. The view over the town is spectacular throughout the day and during religious holidays (which was happened to be everyday we were there) the chanting/singing from the temples rolls up the hill to the hostel for an amazing soundtrack to the stay. Padangbai turned out to be the best location we stayed at in part thanks to this hostel.
