“Relaxing and Chilled Bali Getaway”
Reviewed 28 April 2014 via mobile

Alila Manggis is a small, quiet and relaxed hotel with beautiful grounds and fabulous service. All staff were so happy and friendly all the time and were so welcoming. I felt very at home here. I would say the only negative and this is not really Alila Manggis's fault it is the location is quiet. Nothing much happens at the hotel, everything is quiet pretty much by 9pm and the local town a few mins drive is also quite sedate. If you are looking for a quiet getaway from the noise of the usual resorts in Kuta and Seminyak then this is the place for you. If you are looking for a lively and entertaining time, then this is NOT for you. Stunning hotel, gorgeous food, beautiful pool and surrounds but not in the epicentre of Bali. I highly recommend the day trip to the local beach for lunch at White Sandy Beach. This was a divine beach and just what u look for in Bali. The holiday was ideal for me and what I wanted. Thank you Alila!

Returning to Alila for the third time was like coming home. Chef Santika's food is fantastic (especially the slow cooked pork), breakfasts are innovative and beautifully presented and afternoon tea enables you to sample local sweets. The setting is so relaxing and the grounds beautifully maintained. Dewa is a wonderful host and ensures that all aspects of your stay are to your satisfaction.Thankyou again Alila for a delightful experience.

Room Tip: Request a balcony room as it is so relaxing sitting on the balcony overlooking the sea.

We stayed at Alila Manggis for 7 nights with our 2 year old. The staff were fantastic- very welcoming & attentive without being too intrusive. Our little girl was made to feel at home from the start!

Although we had all our meals at the hotel's only restaurant, we were never bored with the selections! The food of a very high quality, fresh and delicious! We were so impressed that we took a cooking class with Chef Santika in the hotel's organic garden (located a short ride away) and enjoyed it immensely. You get to enjoy your lunch afterwards in the garden's shaded pavilion.

When we had a problem with the our room's air conditioning unit, the staff and management were prompt in attending to it and following up to ensure everything was ok.

The pool is a little on the small side and can get crowded. The rooms are spacious and comfortable.

We enjoyed a few of the activities organised by the hotel- including a nature trek along paid fields and a boat ride out. The hotel also provides shuttle buses to the nearby town of Candidasa (for a few more restaurant options or purchasing knick knacks) and to Tenganan, which is famous for its basket weaving.

A very relaxing stay in tranquil location!

we arrived in Alila Manggis after a very long flight & felt immediately at ease. the staff was super friendly, the hotel is quite small and has a really nice pool and nice views across the ocean. we got a free upgrade because the hotel wasn't fully booked & got a free bottle of sparkling wine because of our honeymoon.

the food in the restaurant is also really good and we followed a cooking class with the chef. went to the market and cooked our lunch afterwards in the open air restaurant. if you like to cook, it's a must-do!

the hotel is really quiet & excellent for adults without children.

definitely will come back someday!

We wanted to relax for several days and after reading reviews we chose the Alila Manggis. First of all being met by the manager and called by our christian names to welcome us to the Manggis was impressive. After swimming in the beautiful pool, being spoilt every day with afternoon tea and nibbles, a sumptious breakfast in lovely surroundings such lovely and polite staff throughout the complex a room that was larger than most hotel rooms and all in working order which is unusual for Bali and the regular shuttle into candidasa this hotel ticked all the boxes. Did'nt want to leave but had shopping withdrawals! Will return, thanks for a wonderful stay.

We spent 11 nights at Alila Manggis, it was amazing!

We would highly recommend this resort, the service from all of the staff is outstanding. The management introduced themselves and all week checked in with us to ensure that everything is OK, they recommended trips that we could do based on what we like to do or see. We mentioned that we would like to try Bali's suckling pig, to one of the waiters, he then mentioned this to the executive chef, who asked us what day we would like it!
The rooms are cleaned twice a day and are a high standard, the pool is fun as its an inverted pyramid. There are staff who work around the pool, preparing the sun-loungers, keeping glasses topped up with water and taking any food or drink orders from us.
The food is Fantastic - the restaurant Seasalt - where you have breakfast is great. Fresh fruit, bread, pastries, juices and hot food all served to you.
We ate at Seasalt quite a few times as it was such a good standard, the tapas, lunch choices and the Megibung - a traditional sharing meal from East Bali is a great way to sample the local food.
We went on 2 of the hotels trips, one to Lempuyang The Holy Temple, we trekked up - was great fun, and the catch and cook - a great experience especially if you like to cook!

We did not lift a finger the whole time we were there - a magical place.
Thank You!

Room Tip: We had a deluxe room on the first floor - great views across the pool to the sea. A bit more private...

I don't really know what to start with.
Alila Manggis is a 4star resort with a 5+ service.
Not even one mistake or delay. Very careful with food allergies and preferences, saying it once was enough for the whole stay. All staff knew our names, were extremely friendly and also very helpful.
Breakfast was great-not a buffet-with different things to choose from every day so one doesn't get bored. The food is really fresh and tasty, the coffee is among the best and there are some very nice organic tea blends also. There's fresh coconut jam, banana jam, papaya jam, loved them all.
The hotel has its own organic garden (a 10 min drive) and you can go there for breakfast.
Every day there's complimentary tea, coffee and sweets by the pool, at around 5 pm if I remember well.
All rooms face the pool.
We were upgraded and had a room on the 1st floor with a nice balcony. There are beds on all the balconies and they give a mosquito nest so I actually slept outside. That was a great experience.
The rooms on the ground floor have direct access to the garden and a nice outside sitting area.
The bed was good and the room clean. Toiletries are all made by Alila with natural ingredients, the soap was absolutely amazing.
All these products and a lot more are available at the spa and in the boutique shop.
Tried the spa and that too was good. You can choose to have your treatment either inside or outside. The outside room was really nice, I recommend it.
Close to the beach there's an open yoga/ taichi place. It is the perfect spot for this. They have complimentary classes as well as private ones or you can just do it on your own.
The only thing I didn't like too much is the beach. There's not much left of it but you can still go for a morning walk or swim.
The hitel has a free shuttle ( every 2 hours) to/ from Candidasa and the White sand beach. This is one of the nicest beaches I've seen in Bali. Not crowded, some ships, places to eat and sun beds. In the evening you can see the locals fishing too.
Snorkeling and trekking are on offer too ( for an extra charge ).
The hotel has only one restaurant butfor a change you can always go to Candidasa.
This is a quiet place, perfect if you wanna relax.
Many thanks to all thestaff at Alila Manggis, especially Mr. Dewa. The service here was better than what we experienced in olaces like Mandarin Oriental in Singapore and Kuala Lampur.
See you again for sure.

Room Tip: All rooms are good.
