The alila ubud gave my wife and I the perfect start to our honeymoon. We spent 5 nights there around the start of May and the hotel and location are truly tranquil and beautiful. The pictures of the pool really don't do it justice. Our room was spacious and clean and the outdoor bathroom was fantastic.

The staff there are so helpful and genuinely friendly. They really cannot do enough for you. We went on the balinese lifestyle tour and our guide Puriana was absolutely fantastic. He tailored the tour to what we wanted to see and a trip that was meant to be 4 hours ended up lasting 6 because we had such a great time with our guide.

All in all a great hotel and somewhere a little different than your normal beach hotels.

This hotel is like a secluded paradise, far away from anything else! The huts are lovely with their own little balconies overlooking the hills and a decent sized bathrooms with great toiletries from the spa. The huts are very rustic feeling and dont even have a TV, so you really feel like you are away from it all!

There is free wifi which worked perfectly the first day of my stay and then would not work again for the remainder, which was slightly frustrating.

The infinity pool is beautiful, but there should definitely be some more sun loungers around the pool as these were difficult to find at times.

The restaurant is amazing with a great a la carte breakfast including pastries, fresh fruit, porridge, juice, smoothies, hot chocolate and also local specialities.
We were given a free tasting menu dinner at the restaurant one night which was delicious and a good sample of the food on offer. Cocktails from the bar were nice, if a little bit on the weak side.

Staff were very friendly and would always greet you when walking past.

Afternoon tea at 4pm every day is a nice touch, just watch out for the monkeys! Also if you get chance watch the local young dancers practising their routines by the pool, they are really good!

There is a shuttle bus to Ubud town several times a day, try and get there a bit early as it can get full up.

There isn't a gym at this hotel, but there are bikes you can hire if you are brave enough to go out on the road!

The spa is lovely and good value for money, I had an hour long massage and an hour long facial for under £50, thanks to the $20 discount I was given on check in. I also bought some of the products from the spa which are great quality, and there was an offer on where you receive a free body scrub or face mask when you spend a certain amount.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again if returning to the Ubud area.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights from the 6/5/14 and it was the best start to our honeymoon!
We were upgraded to a deluxe room which consisted of a huge outdoor bath and shower plus a small walled garden with an amazing view.
We particularly enjoyed breakfast as there was so much choice and it was table service opposed to the usual buffet style we were used to.
I also used the spa for a scrub treatment which was the best I have ever had!
The pool is beautiful, the photos really don't do it justice as the view is breathtaking.
On several occasions we saw monkeys around the hotel, our favourite occasion was when a whole family were on the wall in our garden!
The local town is really nice too and quite buzzy. We went here for dinner on a few occasions and would particularly recommend The Bridges where it is best to book for if you want to sit at the edge which is best.
We would highly recommend Alila Ubud to anyone looking for a special time away, we certainly would love to go back one day!

The hotel is superb. Nice pool and garden. Visitted by wild monkeys during the afternoon tea :-)
The employees are very friendly and very helpfull. During diner time however, a lot of chaos and long waiting times. But this is a general thing in Asia... The food is very good but Western prices.
The Alila is too far from Ubud to walk but they have a free shuttle until 6pm.
Rooms are minimalistic -no tv- which is great to relax and forget about daily stress. Everything was clean, but the bathroom could havd been cleaner for a hotel with such high standards.

In general terms, a hotel you should certainly visit!

The Alila Ubud is an isolated beautiful property 25 minutes from town. We stayed in a second floor room which had a great view of the pool and jungle. Monkeys would frequently hang out on our balcony. Everywhere you looked you couldn't help thinking about the peacefulness of your environment.
While I rate the property as excellent, a few things could use improvement:
Internet service is spotty, at best
There are no drawers to put away your clothes
There aren't enough chairs at the pool
The restaurant is expensive

What is spectacular is:
The staff-they are all kind, calm and out to please
The breakfast-cannot imagine a better breakfast anywhere
The pool...oh my goodness, it is what dreams are made of

We cannot wait to go back!

Room Tip: Ask for a second story room.

Dear MindyLZ,

Greetings from Alila Ubud and thank you very much for taking the time to review our beautiful resort.

I 'm glad to report our new internet line is now up & running with a dedicated 4mb link for our guests to utilise complimentary, much improved over the existing 1mb link.

In regards to the pool chairs, we are also in process of ordering further chairs and look forward to having these added to the pool area by the end of the month, it's far too wonderful a view for everyone not to be able to enjoy poolside!

Our new menu and wine list have recently been introduced in both The Plantation and The Cabana. Many of the dishes and drinks on these lists have been revised to a more appealing price point for our guests and we have been receiving positive feedback on both the value for money as well as the quality. Whilst we will never compete with a local warung for pricing, we do believe that the location, service, food safety practices and quality of our cuisine justifies the current pricing, as well as being in line with other resorts in our competitive set.

Thank you very much for the great comments on our team, breakfasts and of course, the pool, enjoying this area in real life is certainly one to tick off the bucket list!!

The team and I look forward to welcoming you back home to Alila Ubud on your next visit to Bali.

Kind Regards,

My wife and I recently had the opportunity to spend two nights of our honeymoon in Bali at Alila Ubud, and the hotel absolutely delivered, right from the start:

A glass of cool, fresh watermelon juice to refresh after your journey, sir?
Why, yes, thank you!
And, will you join us for local-flavored cocktails, like Spiced-Mango Martinis, in our Art Gallery this evening, sir?
Of course!

The General Manager, Mr. Davidson, and his staff provide the best service; they always greeted us with big, warm smiles and offers to help. TIP: Make sure to check with the hotel regarding activities that are scheduled during your stay dates. Our first night there, we happened to arrive on "Spice Market" night, held at the hotel's open-air restaurant, which became one of the highlights of our honeymoon: a fun, festive combination of native Balinese dancing, traditional music, and 5* food (best Babi Guling I've ever had).

Ideal for discerning travelers and couples. A great base to explore Ubud (you'll need to taxi) and you'll want to make sure to get outside to the countryside to explore the villages, but between the spa, the bike rentals, and the Terrace Tree Villa we rented, I could easily lose several days on the property. If you are an early riser, you might have a chance to share a sunrise swim in one of the world's most-beautiful pools with family-friendly monkeys playing in the trees right next to you. It was a magical experience, we cannot wait to return someday soon.

Thanks, Alila!

We stayed here for three nights after staying at Alila Manggis. Alila Ubud was not as good as Manggis. The hotel very busy during our stay and the pool area was too small to accommodate all the guests. There were also lots of bugs, but the hotel is like being in the jungle so there is not to much you can do. The room was a little old and I didn't feel as though it was super clean. The food and spa was better than Manggis however. It was nice to stay outside of the city of Ubud, it was very easy to get a cheap $7 taxi into town and back. I would try another hotel if I ever return to Ubud.
(Also, there was a wedding on whilst we were there. It looked amazing, the hotel did a great job for the coiuple).
