“Perfect relaxation”
Reviewed 17 July 2014 via mobile

This hotel was the first stop for our honeymoon in Bali and all I can say is that it was the perfect place to your relaxation after all the stresses of the wedding.

The service was amazing, everyone was extremely friendly and always out to please and help you.

Breakfast was always excellent and every morning it would be different. We were treated to a free taster lunch which was really nice, as well as a free rice paddy tour which was really interesting and fun.

We stayed in a deluxe room which had an outside bathroom. The room was spacious and clean and very well organised.

All in all I would recommend this hotel to anyone that needs to relax and get away from it all.

Alilas surroundings are amazing being located on the river the view is incredible! The breakfast was delicious!! Our stay was very enjoyable! However being one of the furthest rooms it was a bit of a trek back and forth to the pool and reception! Would defanitly recommend to anyone!!

Stayed here for a few days I remember not wanting to leave at all. The rice terraces, lush forest and zen-like ambiance work wonders to recharge the tired city dweller. Not forgetting the pool...simple sublime. Indeed one of the best hotels I have stayed in recent times.

Room Tip: Take the villa if you can afford to splurge. Otherwise the deluxe room would be your choice if you l...

We spent three nights of our honeymoon in a Pool Villa here and it is a stunning place to be.

The Pool Villas are beautiful. Set in it's own walled garden room 404 is a detached villa with large bedroom/sitting room, dominated by the huge centrally situated bed. The bed faces the patio doors out on to your pool and comes complete with suspended mosquito netting which is dropped into place during turndown. The room is well equipped with TV (why you'd watch TV here I have no idea), Apple TV, drinks making facility and daily ice delivery. You do have to search for plug points for your tech. The bed is very comfy, not too soft or too hard with lots of squidgy pillows.

Through the double doors behind the bed is the bathroom/dressing room. His and hers sinks with separate toiletries for each are a nice touch as is the insect repellent. Good toilet and shower rooms and nice dressing gowns. There's plenty of space for clothes and cases in the two wardrobes. The feature of the room isn't actually in it but through the doors to the sunken bath. This is set in the pond that surrounds two side of you room. It is amazing to lay in the bath watching the fish and listening to the frogs. They supply plenty of candles and mosquito coils to keep the insects away but I love that they encourage you to feed the fish (bread from breakfast) who eat the mossies and their lava. A great eco solution and we didn't see or hear one when we were there.

Outside in your fully screened garden you've got your own decent sized pool (just remember to slide the lock over on the gate for total privacy at turndown time) and great sun loungers. The pool is a good depth and heated by the sun. The garden is also home to the fish (already discussed), lizards, frogs and you may be visited by a family of monkeys. These are amazing and we got the feeling when they visited one morning that they were watching us as much as we were them.

It's worth noting that this resort is a bigger property that it looks on-line with a lot of rooms spread along the hillside. If you don't like walking up hills or steps you may want to look elsewhere. No problem for us and you soon learn to remember to take what you need with you when going out or enjoy a vigorous climb back.

The hotel Spa is a lovely and very welcoming set of buildings. We enjoyed a couples treatment from two very skilled therapists at a price you'd have trouble buying some hand cream in a UK spa. The list of treatments is extensive and very interesting.

Breakfast in the restaurant is lovely. It's an a la carte arrangement with interesting international and local options. It's not a fast processes but remember you're on holiday and enjoy the view, the monkeys and the squirrel things. If you are tight on time, going out or checking out, let the staff know. It won't speed things up but it's nice to talk to them. We enjoyed dinner in the Spice Market themed evening with dancers and music plus a really good local buffet. Dinner in the restaurant is a very good. The standard of food is as good as any you will find, well served and excellently presented.

We now come to my only negatives. To get to the main pool are you have to climb the steep, long stairs. It's built on a hill so there's nothing wrong with this but it is worth noting. If you have trouble with stairs you wont get to the pool. We found the pool busy when we were there with all the beds taken as some people seem to have a bed in the sun and one reserved near the terrace. The pool itself looks stunning but when you have your own in the villa who cares if people want to use all the beds.

The hotel has no actual bar. You can sit in the covered terrace by the pool and order drinks and food from the menu but no actual bar which is a shame to my mind as I like to sit in the bar, pre dinner or lunch as it makes a nice focal point. Still nothing wrong with the food or drinks served. Plus the complimentary afternoon tea is a nice touch.

All in all this is a five star property, well run, with wonderful staff and stunning views.

Suksma Alila

Room Tip: Get a Pool Villa for space and privacy. Standard rooms look to be two story so I'd get an upstai...

Stayed at Alila, Ubud for my second time in two years. Was greeted by the lovely staff: "Welcome home". Everything about the place is wonderful....staff, grounds, pool, and the breakfasts are to die for!! If you are wanting a quiet, relaxing beautiful place to stay (just a short shuttle or taxi ride from Ubud) - this place I can highly recommend!

Room Tip: I prefer the standard room (with a balcony); this time stayed in a superior room with lovely outdoor...

Set 15 mins from Ubud town this hotel was in the perfect setting surrounded by greenery.

I was initially given the superior room but this was quiet small and felt basic I upgraded to the valley villa definitely worth the extra money as it had more space the decor was better and the Panoramic windows heightened the experience.

This hotel had the best breakfast in town the food was fresh and al a carte as opposed to a buffet sat there for an hour.

I tried the yoga class here well worth getting up for.

I loved Ubud for its culture, nature and history highly recommend few nights here if your staying in Bali.
