“Amazing”

Alila is a beautiful hotel set in an amazing setting. It is very quite and tranquil there and truly relaxing. It is close to central Ubud and there is a shuttle offered from the hotel. But it is only about a $10 taxi ride if you miss the shuttle. Going into Ubud is a great experience, catch the Balinese dancers after dinner while there.

Alila's staff was very friendly and helpful.
You can book excursions directly through the hotel at a reasonable rate. We did a biking tour, The Alila Challenge which was amazing. This bike tour that was lead through the countryside of central Bali with a visit to a Balinese home and market. You can also take the bikes on your own tour which they have maps at the front desk to guide you.
We also did the white water rafting trip, this was a trip down the Ayung river and was also really great.

The grounds were very well kept in an amazing setting (along with a family of monkeys that we saw most mornings), the pool is as advertised on all the photos and the food was outstanding.

A nice place to stay, close to Ubud without being in the chaos of the city. Many reviews noted that this resort was quite far from Ubud, reality was it was about 15 minutes away. We would usually take the hotel shuttle into Ubud and a cab back to the hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights during the Easter holidays with 2 of our daughters aged 12 and 15 at the time and I have to say that we all had an absolutely fantastic time here, albeit rather rainy, but that only seemed to add to its beauty and charm.
The location is out of this world, and contrary to what other guests may have said about not bringing kids here, my lot loved it. The white water rafting on the Ayung river is a must and was probably one of the high points of the holiday, we all loved it so much we rafted the following day on a river about an hour away whose name I've forgotten sorry, but was a grade or 2 up from the previous day and therefore scarier including the 4 metre drop at the end but well worth the hours drive!
Its quite simply lovely here. Make sure you do the yoga class, the teacher at the time of our stay was great, we went out walking through some of the paddy fields which was beautiful, the monkeys would appear at some point every day which the kids thought hilarious and Ubud was really interesting and only a short drive away. The rooms definitely do not need updating, very zen like quality to them, think 4 star boutique hotel in England.
If I could find one negative about the Alila iis that it doesn't have a decent bar area, just a small seating are in the corner of the restaurant, but that really is my only moan!
I would certainly recommend this hotel to singles, couples and family alike. Enjoy!

This is a great hotel, with the most beautyful landscape. When we arrived they upgraded our room to one that had an outside shower... it was great.
The room was big and confortable. Everything very clean. The staff was very nice, like all balinese peolple.
The hotel is in a far location, in the wild, but they have a free shutle to Ubud, wich is very usefull. And it´s great to see all the monkeys just walking arround in the hotel gardens.
Good hotel for relaxing, taking sunbaths and enjoyng nature!
We would definetly go back!

We only stayed at the Alila for one night as part of our honeymoon travelling around Bali. As soon as we arrived we knew we should have booked a longer stay. It is the most peaceful hotel, a real retreat. We ate in the restaurant as we wanted to enjoy the hotel as we weren't there for long. It was a little expensive but it was worth it, the food was delicious. The staff are all very helpful and our room was lovely, amazing views over the hillside. The breakfast was very good, a good choice and cooked beautifully. We loved it here. They have a free shuttle bus into Ubud and back throughout the day which is very useful as the hotel is quite out of the way but that's the point of it! I think a few days would be perfect here to really enjoy the peace and relaxation.

We had 3 great days in Alila Ubud and that was perfect. The resort is only a short taxi ride from Ubud village where there is good shopping and good cheap food.
The resort was wonderfull. Staff were pleasant and courteous and very helpfull.
Rooms were clean and well maintained and serviced regularly whilst there.
The grounds of the resort are in good condition.
The pool was the highlight (and of course the resident monkeys which do not come near the guests).

Stayed at Alila for four nights and have enjoyed our stay. The hotels pictures are a true representation of what you can expect here at the hotel.

The setting is amazing in the hills of surrounding Ubud.

We had booked one of the Superior rooms from the recommendations from this site. We were told on checkin that we were upgraded to a deluxe room which normally would be nice but on this occasion wasnt. We were right at the top of the resort with absolutely no view at all. We made mention of this and were moved to a decent room with no fuss or question.

Pls note, if you are booking a superior or delux room, ask for one close to the restaurant/pool end of the resort or one from 101 - 112, these are the best rooms with views. We stayed in 117 and it was ok.

The pool is great and is lovely at night. We arrived on Friday and they have a traditional bali feast (Fridays only) on in the restaurant which had great food. We also had complimentary cocktails before dinner and canapes which were a nice touch too.

Breakfast was included in our rate. We were a little lost as there was no explanation on how the buffet worked opposed to a la carte menu....we worked it out but you would think a hotel of this standard, we expected more. Bfast is pretty average overall. We asked for baked eggs and were told it would be 30 mins. Upon receiving the meal, it looked like first year cooking class......very very poor.

It is set up for couples which is lovely and romantic. If you are a single and here to write your next best selling novel.......GREAT, if not, you will be bored. Also, if you are thinking of bringing kids, think again. This is no place for kids, unless they are ok to sit infront of a gameboy all day. There is nothing for them to do here!

Negative points for me are - breakfast was underwhelming and cocktails are average for the price.

Overall happy with our stay and would recommend.

If you travel to Bali and love nature, you must stay at ALILA in Ubud. The hotel location is amazing in the middle of a forest and rice fields.

The facilities are great. Nice rooms, very comfortable with excellent views and no TV is a plus. There are no words to describe the pool area (you already saw the pictures)

The service is excellent and the food is great, specially the breakfast. You feel that everybody as one goal: to maximize customer satisfaction.

We use hotel bikes for a ride in local villages and rice fields.

It was great! We totally recommend.
