We were there for 2 night, quite and serene environment; I like the location of the cafeteria, high up, giving a good view of the vicinity, the breakfast were wonderful.

setback... undersize air/cond... not sure about other rooms; the hotel should provide pickup from the air port, and more shuttles service to the UBUD Town.

Room Tip: Go for a higher floor , better views!

There was only one problem with this hotel; I had to leave. After staying in a number of big name brand hotels this was a breath of fresh air, The place is obviously a labour of love and oozes character. The staff are among the most professional I have ever encountered, warm without being over the top or false. The food in the restaurant is fantastic - no half-baked fusion but excellent European and Indonesian. The view from the restaurant is worth the trip alone.

This place is simply amazing. The staff are the nicest. The facilities are amazing. The grounds are so cool, it's kind of like entering Jurassic park crossed with the shangri la.

Our room is amazing. I'm in room 307 now (we still have 3 more nights here) and it is so blissful.

The morning breakfast is amazing. Afternoon tea is amazing. Dinner is amazing. The pool is amazing. The river below is amazing.

Just stay here. You won't regret it.

I stayed here with my boyfriend in November/ December after a recommendation from a friend, and it was unbelievable, unimaginable and simply unique.

After a dodgy taxi journey from Nusa Dua, we were welcomed by a trio of terrific staff. Check in was easy and given a lovely cocktail whilst sorting the paper work out.

The rooms were humongous, and the bathroom had a shower and a bath.

The minibar was free, which had leading brand drinks in, however there was no milk, but this was brought to us upon asking.

The bathroom amenities were by far the best I've ever used in hotels, and smelt delicious.

The carvings, art work and sculptures were out of this world. As others have previously mentioned I was told that all pieces were from the owner's personal collection.

Tip - Afternoon Tea is served at 4,30pm and it is free of charge, I don't think this is something that is well known, whilst sat looking over the jungle, rice terraces and in the far distance volcanoes you are presented Ritz standard sandwiches and cakes, this is completely heavenly and delicious...but there is a BIG issue with why you may be unable to have it!!!!.....

The last shuttle bus into Ubud is at the same time (very clever Ayung) if you want to get the shuttle into Ubud for your evening meal then you will need to get this one..(sorry if you weren't anywhere this hotel isn't in Ubud, it's around 20 mins car ride away)

The lack of shuttle buses, - or just the timing of them is what lets this hotel down, this is also why I'm unable to give this hotel 5*. It's a real shame as we would definitely travel back to Ayung Resort if it wasn't for this problem. This ultimately means they've lost future business because of this small issue, many more would agree. A taxi from Ubud wasn't extortionate and you can negotiate the price, but the taxi drivers are reluctant to go less than 90,000 IR (4.50GBP) due to the distance.

Breakfast was the best in Bali, completely unreal, it's hard not too order too much because everything is so scrumptious, the restaurant oozes Fine Dining as everything is presented so perfectly, no words I say will even give this wonderful breakfast credit.

One qualm I did have with breakfast was that the staff were impeccable on the first morning, but from then on service really slipped considerably, perhaps it was busy for them, yet there did look like there was plenty of staff on duty, it took nearly 15 minutes to get a menu! I did look around and others were the same. I found this infuriating especially when I knew how good they had been!!!

We ate at the hotel on the first evening, which yes, was pricey for Balinese standards, but the service, quality and presentation of food was out of this world, Western hospitality has a thing learn, all over Asia everything is completely faultless. We paid around 475,000 IR (23.50GBP) for a one course meal and one drink each, which is pricey, we didn't order starters, but luckily enough the restaurant gives a health shot, breads and oils as a starter anyway, which is a lovely touch.

The pool at the hotel was practically our own private pool and didn't once see any other swimmers, this made you feel the peace even more!!! - complete luxury.

It's worth a walk down to the river at this hotel, you can get a lift with one of the staff on the golf buggies, but it's worth seeing the Ayung River channeling through with its exhilarating, powerful and breathtaking current. You can also book to Raft down the river with the hotel but we weren't really brave enough!

This hotel is simply magnificent and invigorating, you will never go anywhere like this anywhere else in the world.

Just sort the shuttle buses out!!!!

After being in several places that were totally different as they look like in booking.com we arrived to Ayung Resort with some worries... Once we checked in and especially went to the restaurant all these worries dissapeared and became happiness and joy.

This is the best hotel we have been during the whole month we were on vacation. Excellent staff, wonderful meals and most important is all of them were focused on bringing magic to our vacation.

This means a lot at least to me, involved into the tourism business since I was born.

Keep on like this and never change. See you soon!

After reading all the reviews already posted here, I had high expectations before checking in. After my stay, all I can say is "WOW". I am extremely satisfied with the service and the greenery of the hotel. The facility is top-notch for a 4-star hotel (almost feel like a 5-star to me). Highly recommended and definitely will come back. By the way, they have free yoga session in the morning. so bring your yoga gear and enjoy the vacation!

We stayed here back in October and loved it! The resort is a little drive out if Ubud centre but we'll worth the extra journey. The resort itself is beautiful, the staff are attentive and the food at the restaurant is amazing -especially the breakfast! The all round 'guest' experience was probably the best I have encountered. will definitely be back in the future.
