“Spectacular setting”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 July 2012 via mobile

We had a pool villa and the setting is incredible. The staff was totally accommodating and friendly. The only thing is that the hotel is 30 minutes from Ubud and we did spend a good amount of time in Ubud. But there is a shuttle until 5 and taxi service available. The scenery is tranquil, the spa is peaceful and serene, and we really enjoyed the hotel. And, it had a wonderful breakfast which we really enjoyed.

What can I say about Ubud Hanging Gardens to do it justice?!
My wife and I are STILL here on our honeymoon and I feel compelled to write this review now. Our time here has been THAT amazing!
The location is fantastic, absolutely no question. The views are amazing and, somehow, with 100% capacity they have designed this hotel in a way that makes you feel you are alone. The only time my wife and I have seen more than two other guests is at afternoon tea.
The food is also amazing and we have been spoiled. We highly recommend doing the various activities Hanging Gardens has available. We have done just about all of them, but our personal favourite was the secret dinner at the village temple across from the resort (after dinner we sat through a ritual in which they blessed our marriage).
However, a hotel or restaurant is only as good as its staff and this is where Hanging Gardens excels. It seems not only that every single member of staff knows our names (including random staff we've never met before!), but also they know our room number off by heart and even know our itinerary for the day. They are thoroughly organised and efficient. Above all, though, they are incredibly good-natured and polite. In fact, I would go as far as to say they are the most polite hotel staff I have ever come across.
This is the long-winded way of saying if you have the opportunity to visit Hanging Gardens then absolutely take it!

The resort:
The resort is located in the rain forests of Bali just outside Ubud. Every villa has a private pool with a deck. The rooms are massive and overlook the rainforest. As your step out you can hear the river flowing. There are no irritating golf carts, long and winding roads here. just a funicular which takes you up and down. This isnt your typical antiseptic international resort. Its almost like the resort is cradled by the forest.

The resort has an excellent restaurant called Beduur, where Chef Attakrit dishes out some pretty incredible Local cuisine as well as some continental favourites. Despite my being a vegetarian, they went out of their way to ensure I had some of the best south asian food ive ever had. Be it Mee Goreng, Nasi Goreng, Massaman Curry, Phad Thai, almost everything on the menu is fabulous. Would go a step further and compare it to Four Seasons at Sayan: Beduur has better food. Anyday.

The Service:
Exemplary and warm. Emmanuel and his team will go out of the way to make you happy. The staff are well groomed and extremely pleasant to interact with. All activities (Spa Treatments, organising the trekking at Mt Batur, Yoga sessions, Balinese Cooking classes) are organised on time and efficiently.

Overall, this is easily one of the best resorts I have stayed in a long long time and I will definitely go back. Worth every doller, Ruppe or Rupaiah that you spend.

Room Tip: The villas are all good.

Fantastic hotel in a beautiful tranquil setting. My partner and I stayed at the HG for 3 nights, which is a perfect length of time. The hotel is not in Ubud, which isn't neccessary a negative comment, as Ubud centre is quite manic, and the hotel do offer free shuttles.

My only negative on the HG would be the pricing of the food and wine. The food was very tasty and presented extremely well, but to be fair the prices are more than a good restaurant in London. our room was very clean, and loved the traditional decor. Also, never seen a bath as large. I was pretty gutted that I didnt see more monkeys, and yes there are bugs, but not sure what you would expect being smack bang in the jungle.

I would recommend anyone to stay here, but wouldn't advise more than 3 days. A perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle, but please bear in mind, you will have to take a taxi / hotel shuttle where ever you want to visit. I would also strongly recommend the rafting - one of the highlights of my 2 week trip in Indonesia.

Enjoy

A great romantic getaway or honeymoon spot not a place for families unless the children are a quiet bunch who will not disturb the peace. It is situated in a secluded moutainside, which is great, getting away from the hustle and bustle of bali. Absolutely recommended if you want a complete peace and tranquility with really stunning views and a fantastic personal pool villa.
