“HANGING HIGH !”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 weeks ago

What a fantastic choice we made ! One entire week in heaven ! 7 delightful nights !
Upon arrival from Denpasar or Ubud city center, the contrast is huge, as the property is located in the jungle. The only noise you may hear is the sound of birds, roosters and cheeky monkeys. Coming from Paris, France, it was a big change. Our villa was overlooking the forest and stunning sunsets. The in-house pool, had a sufficient size to relax after tours and visits in the village. We did not use much the iconic and splendid hotel swimming pool, even though it was such an incentive on our booking. The bedroom was large and widely open to the outside jungle forest scenery. Furniture and atmosphere were cosy and chic. The bed super confortable. Local dark wood and nice natural fabric completed the high-tech amenities of the huge bathroom and tv/phone connections. The staff is simply well trained, naturally welcoming and is much concerned about any of the guests suggestions and wishes. When it rains you also may relax at the Spa whose staff is once again super professional, skilled, and charming. We enjoyed some great relaxing hours there, in the careful and talented hands of the team. Thank you so much to all of you. We certainly will come back and you deserve our warm congratulations. A true 5***** ! Hung High !

Room Tip: We recommend a villa on hotel level 1 or 2, our room on level 1 was 14.

Been there in Dec 2014. Each room/villa there has a private infinity pool. All you can see while in the pool is immense greenery. Its hard to believe a place like this can exist. The hotel staff is very courteous. Food is simply delicious! Highly recommended.
Despite all this my poor rating is for the sheets. Noticed the sheets had blood stains on them, asked for another, turned out even they had blood stains. While changing the sheets for the second time noticed there were blood stains on the duvet as well. Was very disappointing.

Dear VoyageFiend,
Actually I would like to thank you for your review and the very nice things you are saying about the staff etc and how you recommend highly our wonderful resort but I am also confused over the fact that you say you are reviewing this from your stay in December 2014!
in this case it is a bit difficult for me to check back in regard to the comments about the sheets which I find highly unusual. All of our laundry is carefully done and always laundered after each use. If this is really a review from 2 years ago I can say that we are using a different laundry service with no outwardly negative results.
So if you were here 2 years ago ll I can say is "Come Back Again" We would love to see you again and promise you absolutely clean sheets :))!

This Hotel is very stunning. Yes this place will help you find your inner peace.. Quite far from the cities, you will live in the middle of monkey forest, exotic bird sounds in the morning, enjoying the view while swimming in your private pool, dinner with the temple view, doing yoga in front of the river and having spa in the middle of the forest.. Absolutely, Hanging Garden now is my number one hotel in BALI..
please be aware that this hotel is quite far from Ubud, so we have to manage time carefully. This hotel also have a airport transfer and cost 55 USD..

Room Tip: Rooms on level 4 is the best, you will have view with river sounds

Even if you are not staying here, it is worth a visit. Please go have a meal here. The property is a landmark! One can see waterfalls, a temple and countless trees from here. They even have a heated two level infinity pool that is worth a look!

I just come back from a 3 night stay with my fiancee and have to say, the hotel is highly over-rated. No idea who they claim to be 7 star as one is told in reception.
Yes, the location is breathtakingly stunning. Romantic setting in the middle of the jungle with monkeys, exotic bird sounds..the whole lot.
Further, the room/villa we got 'upgraded' too, was situated directly next to the funicular, which is suppose to run only until 11pm, but runs as long as guests need it..it makes a lot of noise and wakes you up in the middle of the night.
The room was slightly outdated and could do with a bit of renovation, the sink smelled after sewage unless BOTH taps are is use and the minibar nothing worth mentioning.

The service? Well..i am used to stay 5 Star and we are now back in W Hotel Seminyak for further 10 days, then Four Seasons Hongkong...now THAT is seriously 5 star.

Here we were given a bowl of fruit (6 in fact) which were nice and eaten. Turn down service came and closed the curtains, let all the eaten skin and fruit pieces, dirty cffe cups etc as they were.

Only upon us complaining next day they were cleared away, a small bunch of flowers and a welcoming note next to it on the desk.

Somehow not my idea of 5 star...

The SPA...amazing! Nice girls with great massage skills and beautiful setting! SUPER expensive though for Bali circumstances (no prices on the menu..one need to call and ask and then the spa suggests what would be 'good for you'

Over all a nice place to stay but not value for money!

Room Tip: far away from the funicular

Dear LondonClaudia123,
Thank you very much for your honest review. Your feedback is tremendously appreciated, as we endeavor to improve our guest experience with each and every stay. We greatly appreciate your comments about aspects of the room facilities that need looking into.
Our service ethic is of the greatest importance to us so your feed back regarding the in-room turn down service will go a long way in helping us to maintain the quality of service we strive to achieve and maintain.
We have great pride in our Spa and your positive comments are greatly appreciated.
We hope to be able to welcome you back to our resort once again.

With much appreciation

This was the first place I booked for our vacation to Bali. I read that it was the "#1 pool in the world" and from the pictures it looked like so to me. I was so excited so I booked it for 1 night to say I stayed there. The previous night we stayed at the incredible Kamandalu Resort in Ubud and didn't want to leave. I imagined Hanging Gardens must be pretty amazing to take the 45 minute drive up there. We were greeted very kindly and the front desk associate rode with us down the tram to the pool area. The pool was obviously nice but I thought it was a bit overdone. It started raining so we went into the restaurant to grab a drink because our room wasn't ready. Before my bf could even sip his drink the manager came over trying his hardest to upsell the massages by the river. Like can we just relax we don't need to book a massage AT THIS VERY MOMENT.

Another associate came to us and said our room was ready. By this time it was pouring and he handed me an umbrella. I carried the umbrella with my phone, change of clothes, etc. Once we got off the tram to our room there was a series of 2 flights of stairs that were extremely wet and slippery. I ended up slipping on the last set of stairs landing on my elbow and back. The guy was so frantic he didn't know what to do and kept apologizing. Thankfully I am a young 20 year old but I cannot imagine what would happen if an older woman or man did this.

Let's just say most of the evening was in bed and we got the eff our of there the next day. But the manager did give us 2 "free" sarongs and paid for our taxi back to Seminyak.

Bottom Line: Stay at nicer resorts in Bali that aren't so far away and not glitzy/slippery when wet.

Room Tip: Rooms farther down the hill on the tram.

Dear dremreynolds,
While we are very appreciative of your choosing to stay at Hanging Gardens of Bali and the time you have taken to post a review, I am just not sure of what you are trying to say here and what exactly were the negatives. I am very afraid that Trip Advisor is starting to become a forum for some extremely trivial comments!
Yes we are a little remote but that really is the purpose of a real Jungle Resort and why people actually book to come for that reason..so is the distance from Ubud a negative?
Our iconic pool is probably one of the most photographed pools in the world, in fact there are more than 45K shots of it on instagram alone! I will admit that the very rainy weather we have experienced recently could dampen the affect.
Our spa manager might have been a bit over zealous in his attempt to introducer our spa facility so for this minor infraction I do apologize.
And it was raining....sorry about that and we are extremely sorry that you slipped. Thankfully as you said you were not hurt that bad. And our bellman was also upset and wanted to help...so is that a bad thing? He did something wrong? As I understand our team wanted to give you a nice farewell and gave you a nice gift and also paid for your taxi back to Seminyak...this is a negative? Why would you tell people to stay in a nicer resort..what was actually negative about our resort..we are still tryingto find out from your review what was so bad..except maybe for the rain. I also do not believe that the distance to our resort is an issue that needs to be presented in such negative way.....
