“Lovely place to stay, great coral reef program”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 May 2014

We always enjoy staying in older Balinese hotels where the rooms has character. Not like the newer concrete hotels with very cold designs which totally doesnt fit the Bali-scene.

We stayed in the villa for one night and in the bungalows for the next night cause part of the group left earlier so we dont need the whole 3 bed room villa anymore. The villa is excellent, clean and comfy. The previous guests must have cranked up the AC very hard, we didnt need to turn it on till the next day and the rooms was still pretty nice and cool.
The bungalow rooms felt older than the villas but not in a bad way. It was charming with nice terrace looking at the well maintained gardens..

Beach is one of the nicest on the north coast of Bali. It's a snorkling beach, not a sun-bathing nor surfing kind. The sand is darker and plenty of coral fragments around. The snorkling/diving is very nice! they managed to grow beautiful corals and attract so many fish from a barren (or broken?) bay where there was barely any fish 15 years ago.

We stayed at the Taman Sari for 4 days and we had a great time there. The gardens are beautiful, the atmosphere very relaxing, and the beach quiet without all those people trying to sell you something. But the best thing really is the coral reef, which is directly accesible from the beach. Just stunning. We would just be in the water snorkeling all the time. There's also a nice little turtle nursery on walking distance from the hotel. You buy a ticket you can use for a week.

We also went on a trip to Menjangan Island, which was even more amazing. You think the reef by the hotel is great, but the reefs near the island were way better! More fish, more other animals like octopus, lobster and shrimps. Also, we spotted 3 deer on the island.

The food was OKish, nothing special. The meat and fish was overcooked all the time and the pizza was the worst (straight out the freezer?). In other cases the veggies in the soup would be completely raw. The taste was good though. Also, the Indonesian dishes were good, which is what we came for :)

We came to Bali 8 years ago and had a great time. The place was just more relaxed. Nowadays it's really crowded, people hassling you all the time, heavy traffic, etc. We were really disappointed by that. So when we came to the Pemuteran area, we finally experienced that feeling of the Bali we used to know. But the locals were already talking about plans for a new airport there and a harbor for cruiseships. It sounded to us like this exceptional area would become like the rest of Bali within a couple of years.

Room Tip: We stayed in a villa we had to share the outside area with. It didn't really bother us because t...

I have just spent six blissful days in this beautiful hotel on the beach in the north of Bali.I had a deluxe cottage which stood on its own in a beautiful garden.
The room was spacious with a large bed and good mosquito net. The room was serviced twice daily.the bathroom was charming, partially open with white pebbles on the floor and a shower that appeared from a statue.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant on the beach, with a choice of four menus included in the price.
The best thing was the coral reef at the front of the hotel, where a group called Biorock is growing coral.
I had a wonderful facial, manicure and pedicure in the hotel, at a very reasonable cost.
I would certainly recommend this hotel.
Especially for children, the snorkelling is very safe, and it is only a small distance to the wonderful snorkelling and diving at Mengagan island.

Room Tip: It is worth paying a little extra for the deluxe room. The villas looked great for a family.

Arrived late but were welcomed from staff and given some juice. Villa Ratih's grounds and pool are beautiful and private. The large suite has two outdoor bathrooms which were under used by us. The largest suite was not cool upon arrival and the a/c would not hold a charge for more than a day. The villa had many common sitting areas I wish we had more time to have used. The refrigerator is located in the outdoor kitchen with your daily complimentary water. The restaurant had wonderful food and the staff was friendly. The massages are inexpensive but given by truly talented therapist. The beach was average, but beyond the restoration reef was well worth seeing. I would definitely return to this relaxing getaway.

The grounds are spacious and well-maintained. My grass shack was clean and very spacious. The resort was very quiet.
The beach area is just not nice (see my photos). There is a lot of trash that washes up on the beach (as in the rest of Bali).
Once you are there, you are pretty much there. It is not possible to walk on the beach -- it is too rocky and dirty.
I wouldn't rush to come back here and I wouldn't necessarily recommend coming all the way to this resort, depending upon what your interests are.
I felt that I could have been anywhere staying here in contrast to other resorts that are very Balinese.

Have spend 2 Nights in the big villa with 2 bed rooms and private pool. Booked in advance, so you would Expect that the a/c was turned on and that the villa was ready. But NO.
The villa has Got all potential to be awesome, but when you pay a High Price you also Expect a High standard. I Think that the villa was not clean and had not been in use for a long time. Kitchen was horrible and i had to wash the glasses before using it. No te/ coffee available, only a Keddle. No ward robe and slippers.
I Expect the staff to light the villa at Night, when I am at the hotel restaurant, But no, i returned to the villa at 20.30 with my family and it was all Dark. We almost stumbled through the garden and had to search for light with our children. Also the pool was Dark without light. The front desk is run by men, and they are not very smiling or welcoming. When we arrived with 3 suitcases's 1 man helped us with 1 out of 3 suitcases's and he Kept standing waiting for money indtil we gave him some. If he had arranged for all 3 suitcases, i would happily pay him.
The pool area and the restaurant and Beach is very Nice and i linked it a lot. Here staff are very different and smiling and giving a good service. The hotel is located right out to the coral Reef and having sene reefs around the World, i am very positively. The corals and the Reef area outside the hotel was much bigger than i imagined. The kids loved to snorkle from the Beach. Nice food at the restaurant and tables on the Beach, But expensive. Be aware that it is not easy to get a driver from the Streets, Due to location and area, you have to book with the reception at higer prices.
Villa is located outside the area. Having stayed in other hotel villas, i was dissapointed by the standard.

Room Tip: Choose the garden cottages. They look Nice and close to the Beach.
