We just came back from Bali, were we dived with Werner Lau Dive Center (Pondok Sari) in Pemuteran.
Although off-season, there were quite some other divers there. Hence we were diving in bigger groups (guide +5/6) than at other places we had been before. We had 2 days of diving at Menjangan. Overall it was ok, but we had expected more. The equipment is well maintained, only the fins we didn't like, since it's not the ones with a strap around the heel but the closed ones. I have problems with those because of a scar, but nothing else was available.
The boats are spacious and there is water, tea and crackers provided; dives are generally limited to 60 min incl. safety stop, therefore my wife and I surfaced after every dive with ~ 80 bar left in our tanks. On the first day our guide seemd very halfhearted, just diving ahead, almost pointing out nothing to us; second day with a different guide was much better.
Though you dive in a marine national park we still found empty beer and soda cans, candy bar wrappers, etc. at the bottom ...
Overall, other dive sites are just as good as Menjangan and the smaller dive bases we went with seemd to care a bit more about their customers.
