My wife and I stayed here for four nights in February, 2012 based on the recommendation of a friend. We loved it. First, it's in the mountain highlands where the temperature is very comfortable day and night, which makes for a pleasant stay. The scenery and colours are terrific. We stayed in the superior teak room (below the yoga studio) which was spacious, clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The partial open-air bathroom was a delight.
Owner/manager Richard Kaal is amiable, laid-back, helpful, a wealth of information about Baliand a delightful host. His staff have been well-trained and provide excellent, friendly service. Be sure to have a massage in the wonderful hut dedicated to that purpose; the woman providing the massage is excellent at her craft, one of the best massages we had in Bali (and we had many, including at five-stars in Nusa Dua).
Meals are individually prepared from scratch and delicious.
The place is quite isolated, which is part of its attraction, and, as others have noted, reached over a bumpy, crumbling road, which also adds to the adventure. We hiked in pouring rain in the nearby national park to the second temple and enjoyed this moderately difficult walk.
Highly recommend this small resort.More
