When we walked into the open lobby and looked out upon the ocean, all I could say is "This is a preview of Heaven." We were shown to our Villa, 508 where we were introduced to our Host, Mini. We were taken back by her large beaming smile. When we left breakfast, I would ask the wife, I wonder where Mini is so we can ride back to our Villa. It was like she was reading my mind and there she would appear. Everyone we came in personal contact with us was very open and extremely friendly, the strong point of a well trained staff. The staff seemed to be one large happy family, which made our three day stay amazing because by the time we left Soori, we felt we were part of their family and the staff was part of our family. It is very apparent, personal attention to the guest by the staff is paramount. However, if you wanted privacy, it was always there for you to enjoy.

If we had the time to travel, we would return to Soori in a heartbeat.

Marcus, keep up the excellent management.

When we traveled to Bali, we wanted to be on the beach, but heard Seminyak and the area aroudn there was overdeveloped and filled with too many tourists. Alila Soori was about 35 minutes further from the aiprort (about 1 hour total drive) and it was simply amazing. Each room has a private pool, there are no other hotels on the beach, the beach is black sand and gorgeous. NEarby there are a few temples, so as you sit on the beach, you see locals walking back and forth with offerings. The food was ok, but definitely expensive. It was probably the one drawback - you don't really have any other nearby food options, so you'll be paying a lot for so-so cuisine.
The service was exceptional, everyone knew our names, the manager was lovely and gave us a tour of the rice paddy rooms and the breath-taking 10 room house which is available to rent as well.
The place is expensive, so watch for specials on jetsetter or other travel websites
We would definitely recommend Alila Soori, and if we are ever back in Bali, we will return!

Room Tip: We were on the bottom floor, but I'd recommend top floor (only 2 levels) for better views of the sea and more privacy

We stayed for a week in the hotel in an ocean view villa. For those who want to stay it may be recommended to book an ocean view villa instead a beach villa because it has more space and is open. It was a wonderful hotel with good service and food. Perhaps it is not cheap but it is good value. The garden and scenery was very nice. The food was excellent. It is dangerous to take a bath in the sea, but the private and main hotel pool are also very OK.

My husband and I arrived at the Alila Villas Soori and were completely blown away by it's beauty. We were greeted by Anga, our personal guide, and he showed us to our villa, a huge one bedroom overlooking both a private infinity pool and the ocean. It was gorgeous. The resort's restaurant was top notch, specializing in both Indonesian and western specialties and their tasting breakfast menu is delicious. Anga was there for anything we needed and and took us on several day trip adventures around Bali. He taught us a lot about the country and culture. We were sad to leave him when we had to depart! We had massages at the spa and they were amazing, well worth the indulgence and they have free yoga everyday. This hotel will truly cater to your every desire but the best part about it is the natural beauty that surrounds it and the staff they employ.

Honeymoon in July 2011.

What a place! We had an Ocean View Room which is superbly decked out: massive bed which is super comfy, his and her sinks, indoor/outdoor showers, massive day bed next to your own private infiniti pool with un-interupted views onto the black sand beach and permenantly crashing waves. Never seen anything like it (I mean the waves crash ALL the time, and if you like the sound of the sea this is the place for you, but it's not a swimming beach due to the very strong rip currents).

Each villa split in two: Upstairs is Ocean view, downstairs is Garden view. Ocean does have direct view to the sea, whereas the Garden ones didn't look like they did and pools often in shade. Note: pool was not bath temperature.

The whole places is geared up for couples to enjoy themselves and service reflects this. Very discrete and you can get away with not leaving the villa if you like - we often had lunch brought along). But you would then miss sundowners by the communal infiniti pool which is a lot more pleasant than it sounds.

2 restaurants: One local, the other western. We ate 3 dinners in the local, 1 in the western. Very delicious food. Not cheap, but the room rates are not a giveaway so you need to be prepared to pay £10-15 for a main meal dish even though you are in Bali. Some of the food got a bit annoying at times because felt chef was trying to hard to be stylish (scrambled egg and ham profiterolls for breakfast!) but don't let this detract from what was a wondeful menu.

Western restaurant served the most gorgeous lamb and steak. I would say though after 4 nights there we were happy to be looking at a different menu, if not happy to be leaving the place which is about as relaxing as it gets. Would go back tomorrow.

Very friendly staff, general manager was excellent and interesting guy and the massages we had were first class.

You get what you pay for here.

It's not a explore-round-the-hotel kind of place though. You can walk along the beach to the headland which affords brilliant views over rice fields and the coast line, but that's about it. Not a problem for us, but Bali has a lot to offer so worth combining I'd say with some where you can get out and have a look.

Room Tip: Package deals that give meal & massage included with rate.Go for Ocean over Garden View as whatever the extra cost, it's worth it
