“A Cultural, Environmental and Exciting stay”
Reviewed 12 December 2013

I have stayed at this Villa several times and each time the experience gets better. My last experience was a few days ago and it was absolutely great. The drive to get to this villa gives me an insight into the cultural and village life of the Balinese people. You get to drive by temples and villages that gives you a feeling of peace and tranquility. The villa itself is top class with all the trimmings a a five star resort. The staff are always around and are extremely helpful. The villa itself is private with it's own pool and jacuzzi tub. The ambiance is breath taking being located in the midst of functioning rice paddies. The staff will custom cook your breakfast of choice and serve it in your private villa. The evenings at this villa are stunning, with clear views of the skies and the wonderful sounds of nature, one feels intimately connected with nature. To truly EXPERIENCE Bali, villa Kaba Kaba is the place to stay at.

"Welcome to the real Bali!" That's what I think when I come to Villa Kaba Kaba. Just one hour drive away from the stress of the tourist centers like Kuta or Seminyak, this villa provides you the serenity and rice paddy atmosphere that you expect from Bali. I was there already 10(!!) times and I enjoyed it every time. Alone, as a couple or with kids, Paul's villas provide all you need. Starting with a customized breakfast served by friendly Balinese ladies, beautiful and comfortable villas in modern Balinese style (with hot Jacuzzi!!), a quiet and relaxed village surrounding and an amazing view into the sunset. I highly recommend Villa Kaba Kaba to everybody who wants to enjoy the "real Bali".

Room Tip: Talk to Paul directly. He will do his best to meet your requirements.

We have stayed at Villa Kaba Kaba on two occasions. Both visits were delightful. The resort is peaceful and well managed, with personal attention provided on a regular basis by the proprietor. The villas are high quality, and the food is well prepared with a 'home' touch. The menu ranges from authentic Indonesian to popular continental dishes. The villa is a perfect getaway from the noise, traffic and congestion that is now prevalent in the main tourist areas. The Abrahams

Room Tip: Another nice feature is the access to Canguu Country Club nearby. Nice colonial settings! Great spor...

We have stayed here 3 times now around the day of silence. With the whole of Bali shutting down lights I can`t think of a better place to star gaze. Its a truly beautiful part of Bali and the setting superb.Add to this a great host in Paul, fantastic cooking from the chef Suli and really well built and maintained villas where everything works its a great holiday guaranteed. Its also very private if you need it to be. Thanks Paul and Suli for everything.

Room Tip: There are 3 villas that suit singles, couples or families. All have the rice paddy view experience.

Awesome place, rich in culture and totally relaxing. My family has stayed twice, and even our teenage daughter appreciated the merits of Kaba Kaba over Kuta Beach. If you walk around the surrounding area, chances are you will see a Balinese wedding, funeral, or some other traditional event. It is truly a National Geographic experience. Every morning I got up and would either jog or ride a bike. The area is safe and the people are friendly. The villas are superb. They have everything you need, but if you want something different, the staff will get it for you. Private and situated on a rice patty field, I still remember being amazed the first time of having our own pool. We are looking forward to visiting again in the future. Thanks Paul for creating and sharing a one of a kind experience.

I have been travelling to Bali since the mid 1990s and in the past few years I have always tried to spend at least a couple of days at Villa Kaba Kaba during my visits.  When I go to Bali I want to golf, dive, explore and sleep – all things that are made very easy for me at Kaba Kaba, by Paul (the owner) and his friendly staff.

This is an exceptional villa with beautiful décor, Balinese style furnishings and all the amenities necessary to making your stay perfect. Best of all, Villa Kaba Kaba is located away from the more built up areas of Bali which has seen incredible growth over the past few years.  Sitting in the middle of rice fields, Villa Kaba Kaba provides the perfect setting for those looking to de-stress and unwind.  Most people don’t realize that almost all Balinese villas are built behind large walls and so the view that Villa Kaba Kaba offers is quite unique.

Paul is an expert on everything Bali and can provide you with all the information you need to create a memorable Bali experience. He is fluent (sounds fluent, anyway) in Indonesian and is able to recommend the best beaches, restaurants and bars without hesitation. He is able to organize spa treatments directly in the villa or even a scuba diving course in your own pool! One morning he took us to the fish market to buy red snapper, lobster tails and shrimp directly from local fishermen - a fantastic experience that most visitors to Bali do not get to enjoy. The seafood bbq that night was amazing.

If you want to go golfing, I would recommend the golf course in the mountains (can’t remember the name of it just now). The air is cooler and so you do not have to deal with the heat down near the coast. Paul arranged the tee time and transportation.

As a Villa Kaba Kaba guest, you automatically become a Canggu Club member, which allows you access to their tennis courts, gym, sauna, swimming pool and squash courts for free!

The villas are located approx. 45 minutes from the airport (free pick up), 15 minutes to the nearest beach, 15 minutes from the Nirvana golf course and 30 minutes to Seminyak. It is the perfect jumping off point if you want to explore the mountains, Ubud, east and north coast.

In addition, there is no stress trying to get around the island since a car and driver are available and included in the price.

Paul, keep up the good work!

Room Tip: Villa 3 is my favourite as it is the smallest and most cozy.

A friend recommended that I stay at Villa Kaba Kaba and I have to say it's the best advice I've ever had. Around Seminyak, Kuta and Jimbaran is too frenetic for my taste. The big hotels have private beaches and your own supposedly secluded area in some, but there's always someone that overlooks you.

What I was looking for was peace, beauty and tranquillity and at Villa Kaba Kaba I found it. I stayed at Villa 2 and the all round views are maginificient. On all sides you are surrounded by paddy fields and you can simply laze an afternoon away reading a good book and watching the local farmers go peacefully about their work. Occassionally, you might see the owner, Paul, a very friendly man who speaks the local language and is a wealth of knowledge on where the good places to eat and visit are in Bali.

The bedrooms are very comfortable, moutains of piilows and a four poster bed with nets that kept out any insects and a well stocked minibar, although you don't really need it because there's a full size fridge in the kitchen. LCD TV, lots of sofas... chairs...more pillows, little objet d'art and pictures adorning the walls; an aircon that actually works properly and doors that open all the way to reveal everything you went there for in the first place.

Car and motorbike rental can be arranged and a driver to ferry you about if you don't feel like taking on Bali traffic. Personally, I was happy to lounge in the jacuzzi or take a dip in the pool. Despite the great views it is very private and your nearest neighbours are away in the distance, and that is what I really enjoyed about the place: you can breath and truly relax; no one else's music or noise, just the steady hum of the day.

At dusk it;s even better as a fiery sunset burns the sky, Of course, that all sounds very poetic, but what are the negatives. Well, for those who want to be right in town surrounded by other people--it's not. If you want to be on the beach--it's not, although it's only a 15 minute drive away. Villa Kaba Kaba is for those who want to experience luxury, refinement and great hospitality at its best.

The drive to Seminyak only takes about 20 minutes, so if you want to try some of the favoured clubs and restaurants you can. Membership to Canggu Cub is included during your stay and they have a nice restaurant you can relax in after a game of tennis. Wifi, cable and all the modern conveniences are there. The kitchen was great and we had a dinner table big enough for a party. Breakfast is fabulous and if you want to arrange a barbecue you can. The place is very flexible which gave it that homely feeling.

I think it makes a great alternative to people thinking of staying in Ubud, which can be very pricey and frankly overrated, especially since it featured in a film. Just like my friend I would recommend Villa Kaba Kaba.
