“Don't never go there!”
Reviewed 6 January 2011

I honestly think, that most of the positive and praising comments about the pan pacific hotel in this webpage are from pan-pacific staff around the world, because it's difficult to believe, that somebody could love this place. OK, sunset BBQ seafood restaurant food was very good and golf course as well, but thats it. It is supposed to be 5* hotel, but TV-s in the rooms are tiny-tiny with tiny screen and bad quality and with only few channels, everything in the room was wet and damp - floor was wet, sheets were wet and smelly and finally all our clothes and shoes were wet and stinky as well. Roomservice almost always forgot to bring small towels to the bathroom, also they started to clean rooms way too early, for instance 8:45 in the morning(!). Buy the pool there was not enough chairs and some of the guest had to put their mats on the grass (with ants etc). Breakfast buffee was not good and one day they raised the price of the breakfast with no previous announcement (although the food was exactly the same). Spa experience was not good, also I had the worse pedicure I ever had!!! Fitness center was also not so good, equipment was aged and they had only one (!) set of headphones for all the fitness center!!! Location of the hotel is poor - there is no beach nearby and to get around it takes several hours because of the traffic. Finally - hotel stuff tried to debit guarantee sum from my credit card without my permission (they didn't even ask it) and they tried to do it so many times, that finally my credit card limit was full and I couldn't pay with this card. I do not recommend this hotel to anybody! Because of this ecxperience you can ruin your trip and your impression of Bali, we certainly did:-(

We stayed here a couple of years ago on an adults golfing holiday and liked it so much we decided to go back with our three children over Christmas 2010 through to the New Year of 2011.

We had a villa overlooking the golf course and the sea and I've got to say it was quite simply the most enjoyable hotel accommodation I've ever had (and I've stayed in a lot of hotels....). We had two completely separate bedrooms within our own walled garden, a lovely little plunge pool to cool off in with a fantastic outdoor shower and a beautiful terrace with dining table and a day bed. We had a wonderful couple of evenings on our terrace with the hotel chef coming to prepare our own delicous barbecue. Otherwise, we ate at one of the hotel restaurants, our favourite being the pool side bar but as we stayed for ten days the hotel became a bit samey so we escaped a couple of evenings to a nearby resort area called Echo Beach which was a definite change of scenery and very enjoyable.

The hotel staff are fabulous and everybody greets you with a big smile and lovely wishes to have a lovely day. The adjoining golf club is Greg Norman designed and really quite spectacular - we played two other courses whilst in Bali but the NIrwana is by far the best.

The pools are lovely to be around with a small criticism being the loungers are in need of replacing - some are quite rickety and the cushions have seen better days.

There are two tennis courts and two squash courts and a gym - all of which we put to good use - there's an extra charge for courts after 5pm.

The spa is stunning although like all spas very expensive. My husband reckoned his £10 massage on the beach was just as good as his £100 one at the hotel....

All in all, a very enjoyable place to stay. In hindsight we should have gone somewhere a bit livelier for our children who are 21, 20 and 18 but they seemed very happy having a rest so maybe that was for the best.

And finally, unless you have a burning desire to visit Bali, I would maybe choose somewhere else. It's very crowded with endless traffic and you really get pestered on their beaches which are not particularly beautiful!! It's also an incredibly long journey from the UK unless you are using it as a stopover to go on to Australia...

3.5 stars.
Positives: The view of the golf course, the ocean and Tanah Lot was truly beautiful. There was always a soothing breeze from the ocean. The food was good and reasonable for hotel prices. Usually it cost between US$10 and $20 per meal per person for us. I believe the breakfast buffet, if not included in the reservation, cost between US$10 and $15. As tourists, we only trusted the food in the resort. The massages were better than some other places in Bali according to my family members (although they were 3x the normal spa prices in Bali if not booked through promotion packages).
Negatives: The resort was incredibly humid! I could smell mold as soon as we arrived. The paths surrounding the swimming pools were very slippery. The frontdesk did not find the spa pacakages prepaid for 2 of our 3 rooms. It wasted us half an hour to walk back to our room to retrieve the records from our luggage and "discuss" with the manager. My manicure was overpriced (>$20) and poorly done. The salon did not even have dryers. The AC in the rooms was insanely cold. We had to turn it off, but we were hesitant about opening the windows and potentially letting mosquitoes in.

It was the first trip to Bali for me and my partner, we had chosen the Pan Pac because it is located far from the usual noisy touristy areas. The Pan Pac gave us just what we needed, a quiet vacation just for us. Most of the times, when we walked out of our room, we would not meet other guests in the hotel, and it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The staff were friendly, and helpful. The rooms though slightly aged, was cozy, clean and beautifully layout. We especially loved the bathroom which has a window that opens to the bedroom.

It was a good base to travel to other parts of Bali too. Of the 5 days we were in Bali, we spent only 1 whole day in the hotel and used the facilities. We loved the pavillions by the sea, the cool breeze was so wonderful, we had a nap on the divan, and we felt we had ample privacy too.

We would be back for sure

Now this is how to age gracefully! Wonderful hotel with excellent, attentive staff. Food is excellent, and attention to detail everywhere. Hotel is feeling its age, and there are certainly newer locations in Bali. But for a relaxing getaway with opportunities for golf, and far from the maddening crowd, this is great!

We stayed from Dec. 3rd - 5th on the hotel's golf package which we think is very good value if you are going to golf at the resort's gorgeous ocean view course. It was my husband's birthday, and they knew it right away when we checked in. Birthday cake was sent to the room within twenty minutes of our arrival....what a nice surprise. The staff are so genuinely gracious with their hospitality, and helpfulness that we really felt they cared when they asked us what we did that day, or how our golf game went. Check in was smooth and it was nice to be greeted by the traditional Balinese musicians and announced with a gong upon arrival! The room is quite spacious and furnished with traditional Balinese furniture. The beds and the pillows are sooo comfortable, but the bathroom is what we like the best about the room. The bathrooms are very big for a hotel, and the water pressure in the glass shower is good. The only negative about this hotel is that the walls are paper thin. We were not bothered by noise from the next room, and it did not affect our stay.
There are three restaurants open at the hotel and we ate at all of them . The buffet breakfast is very good, offering Asian and western breakfast choices in a beautiful setting... DO sit outside where you can enjoy the view of Tanah Lot temple and the signature par 3 hole of the golf course adjoining. The Friday night Cultural Dance Buffet in the amphitheater was very special, with roast suckling pig and minced duck sates, and all the Indonesian specialty dishes. A+++ for the setting and ambiance, and you get to see the Barong Dance as well. The Sunset Grill Barbecue night is another "must". This is the best value and quality grilled dinner we have tried in Bali (there's sushi and sashimi too!). Again, A+++ for romantic ambiance, a beautiful view, sound of crashing waves, wandering musicians, candlelight, and staff that wait on you hand and foot making you feel special! This hotel is secluded and far from the "action", but what a great place to unwind and spend a few days in paradise being completely spoiled! We will return again and again.

Beautifull gardens and swiming pools, little bit away from main tourist atractions(except Tanah Lot near by). Perfect services and friendly staff. Hotel is situated on coast of indian sea near by Tanah Lot temple, unfortunately without beach. Hotel offering free shuttle bus to Kuta and Seminyak, for 10USD to Ubud. Very good food but overpriced comparing on Bali.
