Lake Beratan is location to the famous Ulun Danu temple one must have seen in adds on exotic locations. Apart view of the temple (he temple has a separate entry in TA), you can rent a swan paddle boat(!) for some fun on the lake. There are a parasailing, canoeing, fishing etc. activities available. It's popular with Balinese and other Indonesians.

If you are on your way to northern shore it's a good stopping place. Otherwise there's little interest in this area.

The beautiful view, pleasant weather and magnificent temple make this place an important attraction a serious traveler to Bali should not miss. It is bit far from Kuta where most tourists stay but it is easier to travel from Ubud. I would always suggests tourists to stay a couple of days in Ubud from where one can reach most distant attractions comparatively easy.
One must reach here in the forenoon to enjoy the beautiful view. One can spend atleast an hour here unless you have more time to do some boating in the lake Beratan. It also offers some good shopping opportunity for souvenirs and unlike other places around tourist attractions in Bali, the prices here are comparatively reasonable. You are still expected to bargain as tourists they always hike up prices by more than 100%.

The well groomed garden around this temple offers a chance to relax enjoying the view. The floating temples offers best opportunity for photo shoots but be patient as you may find the place but crowded at times. I strongly recommend this attraction for all tourists who come to Bali

We visited on a weekend and took a stroll around the gardens and the outside of the temple - we were after a day out to somewhere a bit different in Bali.
The gardens are well manicured and include a deer enclosure.
At the top end of the gardens are animal handlers where you can have your photo taken with a snake/owl/bat etc, which we didn't do.
The lake was picturesque and the temperature much cooler up in the mountains. We enjoyed the fact that this area wasn't filled with hawkers - just lots of Indonesian uni students including some who seemed (quite randomly) to be doing a casual cheerleading display throwing a girl up into the air by the lake.

the temple by the lake is totally nice stop. The environment is surrounded by peaceful aura. When I came here there were not so many people. To avoid crowded please visit in early morning. It would be great trip…

Lovely place, worth visiting, was lovely and cool wandering around. Entrance fee was 50,000 for 2 people. Lots of tourists but still enjoyable.
