“nice place for vacation”
Reviewed 20 August 2012

I always stay in this hotel every time I go to Anyer, since it is nice for vacation with family.

The location is not too far from Jakarta, just about 2 hours drive by car.
The price is fair with so much facilities inside, especially for kids, like: swimming pool, sea pool, soccer, flying fox, volley ball, bicycle, motorbike, banana boat, jet ski, etc....

There are many type of rooms, like hotel or villas with sea view in each rooms...
there is also Ramadhan package which is included breakfast, coffee break and sea food barbeque dinner so that you shouldn't go outside to have a dinner....

I really recommend if you look for villas or bungalows in Anyer........

I have no idea how it is a 4-star hotel. the rooms are extremely bad. the bed sheets were very dirty that my husband and I slept covering ourselves with our clothes from head to toe to avoid contact with the bed and the bathroom was simply horrible. Tv is the old box TV with all local channels except for fashion TV. We shortened our stay once we arrived and saw how bad the hotel was, we wanted to leave as soon as possible to Jakarta.

However, I must say that the view was the best part of the hotel. The sea view with some faraway volcanoes looked great.

We did some activities to keep us cheered up. We played tennis in their worn out tennis court, and went on a fishing trip through the hotel. The nice part was that we gave the fishes we fished to the hotel restaurant and they cooked them for us.

food there is average. and so is the service.

Internet: we simply couldnt get neither at the lobby nor anywhere.. we had to get in the IT room for that.

One of the worst part too was that they dont speak english. which made it even harder for us to ask for anything we wanted.

For anyone stuck in there.. go to the american restaurant/cafe/bar nearby called "bluemoon". it had great food and free internet.

if you wanted to stayed in here and your priority is the beach, i suggest this hotel is the place. BUT i saw a sign says "Dilarang Berenang'' which in english "No swimming" on the beach, i dont know for sure if it was just temporary sign because of the bad weather or it is not. But i still swim there and keeping the distance from the sign. Infact after like 20 minutes i swam there i saw few people swam too, which is funny. MY ADVISE : if you wanted to have some fun with a huge wave come over at 04.00-05.00 pm.

In front of the beach there is a restaurant and a swimming pool, swimming pool is not bad but the cleanless is not on the good category, the breakfast's taste isn't good enough, you should try it for yourself. Outside the restaurant there is a billiard table.

Room Facilities

The mini kitchen didn't kept plates, glasses, anything. its just a kitchen with no kitchen-stuff. i got the picture uploaded here.

And its not well treated.

The bedroom on the other side, is comfy. the bed is formed by rotan-wood. The AC is fine, but the lighting in the two-separated-bed is bad. And bathroom(two-separated-bed) is not like a 4 stars hotel, which is the water spoiled everywhere when you turn on the shower, and its bad decorated(my taste).

NB : Wifi is bad, i cant even get connection from it.

Anything else will do just fine.

Sorry for my bad english.

Disappointing. Cant say its cheap. But surely its far from well maintained 4 stars hotel with minimum facilities: semi-broken ac & refrigerator, rarely cleaned sofa, no blanket provided, below expectation breakfast menu & taste. We experienced broken sink, but the maintenance guy fixed it right away, thanks for it.

Hospitality, easy access to the beach and swimming pools are the only good things they have.

This Hotel/resort is situated on a coast with several others. From what I saw this hotel is in the middle of the pack.
Pros; Extremely helpful staff, room service at the same price as restaurant meals, pool, room made up each day, clean, willing to organize trips (Bargain hard). We took a trip to Anak Krakatau which is in the caldera of Krakatau (Krakatoa). About a 40ft wooden hulled boat with a crew of 5 plus the Captain and the 3 of us. # hours out, a hike up the side of the (active but quiet) volcano, a trip to an adjacent island for a swim and snorkelling (the extra crew came into there own getting us out of shape travellers over the side and back in again) and the trip back. The price started at 7,000,000rpa and finished at 5,000,000 (about $550 US)

Cons: A bit run down, far from town, berserk traffic if you do go to town, Count your change and insist on correct change (except anything below 1000 (11 cents US) is generally not given but is expected. It's the tropics and the expected mosquitos were there along with some type of nosee'um.

The beach at the resort can be dirty although they try to keep it clean but the Sunda Strait itself is quite dirty with plastic bags, candy wrappers etc. that this stuff keeps floating up to shore.

Krakatau was amazing as was the shopping and the trip to a native village in the jungle. We went into Jakarta and went to the National Monument were we were given a brief overview of the Country's history and a huge park with representations of each province.

Glad I did it? Yes
Would I do it again? No. I would try Bali ...maybe

I completely agree with the first reviewer – this has to be one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in and the fact it’s rated as a 4 star hotel is laughable. We went there on a 3-day business trip otherwise I would have left immediately. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom houses, which also had a lounge and a little kitchen. Everything was quite run down inside, plus it was pretty dark in all the rooms. The kitchen had plenty of cupboards, which to my surprise actually didn’t have anything in (no plates, glasses, cutlery etc) apart from a few dead cockroaches. In the bathroom the flush on the toilet didn’t work and dripped incessantly and not once did we have hot water (or even luke warm water) during our stay. The place was full of mosquitoes to the point where you couldn’t sleep at night because of the constant buzzing. I have lived in tropical countries for a long time but have never been bitten to that extent before. This was mentioned to the front desk and they did come and spray all the rooms but this was at 11am, so by the evening the mosquitoes were everywhere again and there were no coils on offer to at least help control them a little.

The first time we went up to the front desk to ask about internet access not one of the three staff there could speak any English. I speak a little Bahasa but was quite shocked that in a 4 star hotel there is not one English speaking member of staff. This is clearly not a hotel for tourists. I think it must be mainly used for business meetings and for weekend breaks by Jakartans. The other shock a tourist may have is being woken up at 5:30 in the morning by music blasting from a large speaker out on the grass in front of the rooms. This, it turned out, was for early morning aerobics! It didn’t matter if you wanted to do aerobics or not you were woken up anyway. How can a hotel this size not have a gym to do this type of thing in so that guests actually have a choice whether to get up or not??

The grounds and the beach in front of the hotel were quite dirty with lots of litter. This was not so much of a surprise on the beach as a lot was getting washed up from the sea but there should be no reason why there was litter scattered throughout the hotel grounds.

The breakfast at this hotel was pretty poor - just rice, noodles, toast (although the toaster didn’t work so it was more like warm bread) and incredibly strong orange cordial. The lunch and dinner buffets we were provided were typical Indonesian cuisine and were fine although if you are vegetarian there is absolutely no option in this hotel.

I’d like to be able to give at least one positive comment about this place to make this a more balanced review but to be honest I didn’t experience one positive thing.

Needless to say I won’t be going back and for the price of this hotel there has to be better options in this area.

My wife & I went for a quiet, relaxing time. Mambruk suited us perfectly. The charming and helpful staff - nothing was ever too much trouble for them - ensured that we not only got the restful and easy-going time we needed but also felt very welcome. We felt like friends, not just clients/customers.
The resort is not a hot, trendy, up-market spot with a buzzing night life and lots of other tourists to meet. But then it doesn't pretend to be. Banten Province is not Bali. Anyer is not Kuta Beach. Mambruk Anyer is friendly, relaxing, comfortable and outstanding value for money.
