Richmond Hotel Obihiro-ekimae

Just finishing up a two night stay at the Richmond in Obihiro. The location is good, just opposite the train station and just a block from the Fujimaru dept. store and with many restaurants in the area. The hotel itself is fine. The rooms are the typical size for Japan, quiet (I'm in 1201 right next to the elevator and for the first time in my travel life can't hear the elevator), and the bathroom in the room is nicer that expected, no unit bath here. A definite plus. Breakfast in the morning was fine. The only part of my stay I didn't like was that parking is tower parking, meaning your car goes into an elevator and up into the tower. Fine if your not going anywhere, but awful if you will be in and out for meetings (or if you forget something in your car). Otherwise, a fine stay. I'd definitely stay here again.

I enjoyed 1 night in Obihiro with my husband. I am impressed of the hospitality and well organized staff. The room is super clean and it has comfortable bed, free pajama, tooth brash, luxuary shampoo and conditioner. Excellent location nearby Obihiro Station, and a few munites to downtown and night market. Coin operated, self-service laundry is installed. Convinient for long distance traveler. Definitely I would like to come back and stay again this hotel.
Thanks to the staff who recommended Obihiro's good food and restaurant to us!

We stayed at Richmond as a stopover between Chitose and Sounkyo. This hotel offers value for money and we managed to book a room with breakfast for slightly more than 9000 Yen. Location-wise, it is perfect for travellers by train since the JR station is just across the road. The main part of town is a very short walk away (5 to 10 minutes). For those who drive (we did!), the hotel offers parking for a fee. The automated parking was a novel experience for us & driving the MPV into the lift required a bit of skill since we were not used to parking this way. Rooms were large and clean. Breakfast was good as well. There is a Lawson supermart across the road for anyone who needs to buy some groceries...

This is part of a chain of hotels. It is located across the street from the Obihiro train station. It is a modern multi-story building. Rooms are large by Japanese standards and have a fridge, coffee and tea, closet, and desk. Cable internet (ethernet) in the rooms but no wireless available that I could access. There is a PC for customer use in the lobby. I did not pay for room so can not assess price/value. Our rooms included breakfast. Breakfast buffet is OK, limited bread choices, eggs, sausage and ham, and the usual Japanese items. But the variety is not as great as in other hotels I have stayed in. Most of the clientele appears to be business people but there were a few families and only one other foreigner. The hotel does not have a gym or pool. Plenty of hot water. Beds are a bit hard by American standards but comfortable and warm. Windows open in the rooms. Only one towel provided. Good amenities. Big screen TV but no English language channels offered. One person on the desk staff spoke fair English. All in all, a perfectly adequate hotel.

Room Tip: 不妨多花少少錢入住兩人房的兩張單人床,是轉角房間。景觀及空間也勝其他房間!
