Just returned from a weeks honeymoon on the island. Amazing holiday from start to finish. The island is beautiful and accomadation fantastic, we stayed in the deluxe beach villa which we couldn't fault.
Staff were helpful without being too pushy and we found the majority of staff extremely friendly.
The food was fantastic and would highly recommend going select all inclusive, the reef restraurant and duniye were by far the best but all of them are very highly recommended.
Overall the best holiday we have had

This island is absolute paradise. Ignore the idiots finding anything & everything to whine and moan about. Like I say, they're idiots.

Staff-all beyond helpful, friendly, would go out of their way to assist daily. Some guests need to work on their own manners & realise that they don't cost anything & should be used regularly. Our allocated restaurant waiter was Shaam (Harange rest) and he was AMAZING.

We also loved
Shirfaz (Palm)
Afsan (Thai & The Palm)
Visam (Thai & The Palm
April (Duniye & The Palm)
Mohammed (Tandoor Mahal & Beach BBQ)

These guys made our holiday just wonderful.

The whole island was kept spotlessly clean by staff, sadly once again guests are just down right rude by littering in places. No rats seen anywhere at all, as spoken of in precious reviews.

Garden villa rooms - more than adequate, always kept clean, 1-12 are newer and on the beach front so would recommend asking for one of these. No worth upgrading in my opinion, most of the time was spent by the pool or on the beach. Room used only for sleeping & washing. Didn't hear any noise from the neighbours ever either... Until a couple with a very young baby came. Sadly we could hear the baby crying a lot and also the parents cooing at the baby constantly. Haven't quite worked out why anyone would come to paradise with children. The peaceful tranquility by the pool and on the beach just wasn't the same with the piercing scream of a baby. Similarly when the pool is taken over by parents and children playing games... Questionable manners here and really the parents should know better. It is also sad to see parents just leaving their kids to the buffet alone, they really should be supervised.

Food - definitely go premium all inclusive option, definite worth the money. Didn't have a bad meal in 2 wks. All restaurants served tasty food.

The gym is very well kitted out & the member of staff that was on duty for the majority of our stay was an absolute diamond. So incredibly helpful and polite, she was wonderful.

People moaning about alcohol... Get a life. Alcohol is illegal in the Maldives so count yourself lucky to be drinking. Alcohol isn't the be all and end all of a holiday. No there isn't any alcohol in the room, however if you have a bottle of wine with dinner staff are more than happy for you to take any that's left back to the room. People need to have some respect and get over themselves. Oh and dress appropriately in restaurants / bars... Nobody wants to see your bits & a bikini really isn't appropriate when eating.

Diet coke would be a good alternative in the mini bar in the room. No diet drinks available so option would be good. I wasn't that bothered and I'm sure staff would have been accommodating if I'd have asked.

We were told that the "buses" that run up & down the island were golf carts... So ignored the mini buses we saw and started to wonder if we would ever be able to get a lift... Until we realised by chance that the mini buses were the lifts!! They run very regularly at night and are a god send after a big meal and a long walk isn't fancied.

Guests... I think the manners of some guests leave a LOT to be desired. Here's a few hints about how you could make yourself more appealing to your fellow holiday makers... Also you could maybe try wearing something other than budgie smugglers... My goodness I saw some parts I did not expect to. I wish men would wear shorts.
Shower before going in the pool
After uncovering food at the buffet...re-cover it
Eat with your mouth closed
Don't let everyone else hear your conversation at meal times
Use please and thank you's to staff members
Have the decency to push your chair in when you leave the table

In summary... Kuramathi is absolute PARADISE :-)

We stayed here only for 4 days: this is paradise! Our superior beach villa with jacuzzi was wonderful: the design, the cleanliness, the food...everything excellent and you feel like in paradise. The wifi is free and the All Inclusive package is worthwhile

Room Tip: Superior beach villas with jacuzzi are incredible

My wife and I spent our honeymoon on Kuramathi for 8 days / 7 nights in July 2014 and had the time of our lives. With perfect weather, abundant wildlife, diverse excursions, top class food and excellent cocktails, we truly couldn’t have imagined going anywhere else. We always told ourselves we wanted to go somewhere that we’d likely never go again for our honeymoon, but this resort has convinced us to come back as soon as we can! Some details and highlights:

Booking: We opted for Select All Inclusive so that we could experience all of the a la carte restaurants and we are so glad we did. The diversity and quality of the food options on the island is simply outstanding. Our favorites were Duniye (Wagyu beef is a must), The Reef and The Island Barbeque (yes, the Steak Diane is as amazing as everyone says it is). With respect to reserving a table at these restaurants, as many reviewers have noted previously you can book up to 3 days in advance. We tended to get up around 6:30-7:00 with the sunrise and never had any problems getting a reservation at any of our desired restaurants even though the island was ~85% full. For lunch, we fell in love with the Island Coffee shop which has a great selection of salads, soups, sandwiches, burgers and other grilled meals to choose from. (Do yourself a favor and get the California Vegetarian Burger - it's sublime). Our favorite bars on the Island were Laguna Bar (witnessing the sting ray feeding is a wonderful experience), Dhoni Bar and Fung Bar. There is a huge variety of cocktails to select from, many of which come frozen which is a welcome reprieve from the heat. Lastly, we decided to do a private dining experience on the serenade jetty that’s just off of Laguna Bar. It was a 5 course meal in our own secluded, open-air room on the reef and was one of the most romantic evenings we have ever had, not to mention our waiter (Hassan Mihaadh) was fantastic.

Arrival: When you arrive in Male you’re greeted by Kuramathi staff who grab your checked luggage. From there, we were shuttled off to an air conditioned waiting room as we opted for the sea plane transfer to the island versus the speed boat. We loved the sea plane because it was only a 15 minute flight and you get some amazing views of the surrounding atolls on your commute. After landing in the water next to Kuramathi, you’re boated over to the main reception area and greeted with cold cloths and a delicious fruit drink – a perfect welcome to the hot and humid climate. At main reception we were thoroughly told about all the details of the island in a time efficient manner and then shuttled off to our villas by one of the buggies.

Lodging: We stayed in a water villa with Jacuzzi and were thrilled with our choice. We only really used the Jacuzzi once on a rainy day but it was a lovely way to spend time outside when the weather wasn’t great. The fact that we were on stilts over the Indian Ocean allowed us to hop in the water at any time and snorkel around (some of the best snorkeling off of Kuramathi is on this side of the island which was very convenient for us). There’s a pretty wide variation of high tide versus low tide, so the wildlife viewing opportunities and changes in scenery can be amazing. Speaking of wildlife…

Wildlife: It’s like something out of a National Geographic documentary or Disney movie. We did not go diving but we snorkeled almost every day and were able to see all sorts of sharks, rays, dolphin, sea turtles, barracuda, crabs, eel, reef fish and coral. We should note that we snorkeled both around Kuramathi and some of the other surrounding islands on the excursions offered by the resort (highly suggested). On land, the island has an enormous amount of hermit crabs, lizards, fruit bats, heron and other birds as well. And though not exactly wildlife, the stargazing opportunities on the island is second to none.

The Staff: The staff could not have been more friendly, courteous, and hardworking. The island is kept in pristine condition and is meticulously cleaned every day. Our room was turned twice daily – once in the morning and once in the evening – so we always had a clean room, fresh towels, and a re-stocked refrigerator. The maintenance workers around the island were never short of a smile and always exchanged pleasantries with us. The waiters and waitresses at the restaurants and bars were also very prompt, enjoyable, and conversational.

Excursions: Given that Kuramathi is one of the larger resort islands, there is no shortage of things to do during the day if you’re feeling adventurous. We went on several guided snorkeling excursions to neighboring islands where we saw some of the largest wildlife of our trip. We also went parasailing (try to book late afternoon so that you can see the sunset!), big game fishing, tubing and canoeing. With respect to big game fishing, keep in mind that it can take a very long time to catch anything and that the fish are kept instead of released back into the ocean (and these fish can be very, very large). The resort allows you to eat what you catch if you so choose but we ended up donating what we caught to the restaurants on the island. We also went on a sunset cruise which is an absolute must. We thought we were just going out for a casual ride around the island during the sunset with a glass of champagne but turns out the boat tries to find and follow pods of dolphin. Absolutely stunning! Lastly, although it’s not really an excursion, my wife and I got a couples massage from the spa and it was so wonderful we considered doing it again on our very last day on the island.

Remember to Bring: Lots of sunscreen and bug spray. The sun in the Maldives is extremely strong and more likely than not you will need more sunscreen than you anticipate, so bring an extra bottle (or 2!) to avoid paying a hefty price at one of the local gift shops. With respect to bugs, the island is sprayed daily to try to get rid of them but it’s inevitable that you will likely get at least a few bites. We would spray ourselves with bug repellant every night before we would go out to the bars / restaurants and generally got away unscathed. We’d also suggest picking up a water-proof camera to capture some amazing pictures and videos of life in the reef.

Again, we had one of the most memorable vacations we could have ever imagined at Kuramathi and are already looking forward to returning again soon.

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Kuramathi and it truely was the most amazing experience. We stayed one week in a deluxe beach villa and the second in a water villa with jacuzzi. Both were amazing, our room boy for both was brilliant leaving our room spotlessly clean and refilling the fridge with plenty of drinks.

The restaurants were all amazing, we were AI a la carte. Its hard to pick a favourite but we loved the steak at island bbq , duniye was always fantastic and always plenty of choice in the buffet restaurant.

The staff were so professional and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble.

We booked the serenade meal on the private jetty and our table was decorated beautifully with "happy honeymoon".

Snorkeling was fantastic especially off the jetty. We saw so many fish, friendly reef sharks and a sea turtle.

I can't rate this resort highly enough it was sheer bliss, pure white sands beautiful sea, such a lovely relaxing holiday.

Can't wait to come back, we miss the resort and lovely staff so much. Thank you for such a memorable Honeymoon.

Stayed here for 9 nights of our honeymoon in oct/nov 2013 - the resort was recommended to us by Kuoni, and it was just perfect.
It's one of the larger islands so lots of variety to keep you occupied, and also far enough from the airport island to feel away from it all. The snorkelling was great, but I loved just watching out for the shark fins from the shoreline!
The choice of restaurants in the evening, and standard of each, was incredible. The island barbecue was great - definitely choose a dish flambéed at your table - I loved the prawns. The standard of food available for lunch was also excellent - at the Palm and coffee shop - fantastic salads full of lovely fresh ingredients.
The staff are incredibly hard-working and the standard of service is exceptional.
We stayed in a deluxe beach villa with jacuzzi. We weren't fussed about the jacuzzi, as it was just in the back garden - however, these villas are in a prime location halfway up the island and quite private, so I'd recommend.
All in all an unforgettable stay - dreaming of returning one day (and I don't usually go anywhere twice as there are so many places to go on holiday!)

Room Tip: Deluxe beach villas with jacuzzi are well-situated, detached and of a good size.

Our family of 4 was at the resort in May 2014. We have a wonderful experience at the resort. We were wowed by the excellent service, good food, beautiful beaches, and exciting activities organised by the resort. Activities which we enjoyed - snorkelling, welcome drinks for a few night at the beach bar, party at a villa and a picnic at a sandbar ! The weather was perfect and white beaches have plenty of shade for you to relax and suntan. The resort even throw in a surprise with a flower decoration, birthday cake and wine for my wife's birthday. It was memorable and certainly value for money.

Room Tip: Room near to the beach for good view and accessibility.
