Not as good as expected and quite pricey. Old fashioned rooms which would have been fine but furniture was dusty and not really cared for. Food in the restaurant is good when it finally arrives, the secret is to order earlier in the day, then it should be ready when you arrive. Also check your restaurant bill if you pay when you check out. Take a jumper!

Firstly the town of NE is misrepresented in all guide books. It has very Little to offer and appears rundown and very dated. The choice of hotels, restaurants and bars is limited and what there are are of a very poor standard. The teabush hotel is also like stepping back into time á la FawltyTowers. The only positive were the staff who were friendly and understanding when we said that we were leaving a day early. It clearly wasn´t the first time that people had left after just one night. The bathrooms were dirty and the shower mat was filthy with footmarks on it. The place was dated and had cobwebs, stains across all carpets, no wáter was available in the shower in the morning and it lacked any character or sense of pride. I would recommend miss out NE and the hotel all together and move straight onto Ella which eclipses NE.

Room Tip: dont choose any

First, the location is just horrible. Our driver had difficulty to find it and when we finally arrived... it wasnt really what I expected. We pay just a little less than in other high standard hotels, but this one is rubbish. Service is smiley... but barely anyone speaks english, I can remember anyone at the front desk, you need to go look for someone. The hotel looks really old inside and I didnt enjoy staying there at all. Super quite even in the dinning room... very awkward to say anything to your friend / partner as everyone would hear it. Not to mention that there was no alcohol in menu at all... dont think there is a single thing about this place I liked. Definitely dont recommend. Night time it was cold and we had a heater which broke immediately. Luckily it was quickly replaced. Bathroom... brrrr no no no. Overall if I paid $15 I wouldnt mind, but we paid way more than that.

The hotel is on a hill with some fantastic view, clean and comfortable. Staff were extremely friendly. We stayed at the hotel in December, so it was a little cool during the night, however heaters were provided. Food was lovely too. Only draw back was there was no bar, however wine was available with your food.

For a B&B, this place is very nice, clean, comfortable and has really nice staff. The only complaint I have is that the walls are extremely thin so you can hear people's conversations from 3 rooms down. The breakfast is good too.

Visited the little inn on Jan'14 and firstly the location was great.10 minutes to town, 5 to the lake and had great panoramic views all around the hotel. Staff were very friendly and always greeted us with us a smile and had very quick response to all our needs. But sometimes felt they are trying to over do it as well especially sampath, however in terms of customer service i would rate 4 out of 5.
Breakfast was decent where they had a basic meal without much varieties but we were satisfied.
Our main concern was the rooms where it was very small than we expected. Didnt had a view and we could hear through the sounds on other rooms so privacy was a concern through out! Also my fiancee suggested that near the dressing glass inside the room, there were no table to put her stuff so we had to share the one left in the corner for everything, Would be better if there is a small dresser table for same.
All in all a good stay at Tea Bush!

Room Tip: Definitely check for a spacious room as i'm not sure whether there are any!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Tea Bush Hotel is a boutique type hotel of 10 comfortable rooms, situated in Nuwara-eliya, the little England of Sri Lanka. The original planter’s granite bungalow, “Shelborne”, as it was then known built in the 1800’s, where most of the hotel rooms are housed adding to the old world charm of the hotel, was the residence of the superintendent of Haddon Hill Tea Estate. All rooms are provided with hot and cold water and room heaters are optional. Ample parking space coupled with drivers’ quarters is a boon for the tour operators. The large well appointed restaurant serves delicious food for both in-house guests as well as walk-in guests. Room service is also available on request. The limited number of rooms makes every guest a special one for the hotel. The high elevation of the hotel above the town makes the view from the rooms and the restaurant of the surrounding hills, Nuwara-eliya town and the Lake Gregory to be quite breathtaking. Mt. Pedro or Pidurutalagala, the highest peak in the Island is close at hand. One could get a grand view of Adams Peak or Sri Pada, the famed holy mountain by climbing the Single Tree Hill just behind the hotel.Guests on their own may visit the Victoria Park and the Lake Gregory which are just walking distance from the hotel, while hiking trips may be arranged by the hotel to the surrounding hills. Guided day tours may be arranged on request to the Hakgala Botanical Gardens with its famed rose beds or to the Horton Plains, the National Park among the clouds at an elevation of 7000 feet, and perhaps a peep down the Worlds End, the 3000 feet sheer precipice. All this would make your stay at the Tea Bush Hotel linger in your memories for long years to come. ... more   less
